I got a nice idea Room Registration. You create a room then you register it as a room (like premade rooms) which can be powered by any power source. Any Prox Sensor that is placed in it would activate if any player gets near (doors to open from outside the room) or in the room activating all lights or other things linked to the proxy. When a Prox Senor is in the room the whole room would be pretty much a senor but only when near the doors or inside the room
Very helpful, Khraze. I just wish we had some kind of wireless/proximity power instead of the ugly wiring. I feel like I need to get an electrician's degree to figure this out.
You can indeed place a landing pad on it. Anything you can build on the ground you can up there and it’s quite rad. Good luck in your base building ventures!
I am having a lot of trouble trying to build a base up in the air. I am following the steps you describe, but when I try and put down a second base computer up on a platform at the edge of my build limit, the base computer ALWAYS gives me the previous base registration error and won’t let me place the second base computer. I have tried this on numerous planets and numerous positions and I can never get that second base computer to allow me to continue. Any tips you might have would be greatly appreciated!
Did you find a fix for this, I'm going to try putting a floors down to land my ship up there so I can go back down and remove my first base, not sure if this will work though.
If you attach electricity to the cuboid room or circle room, the door functions normally. No wires to the door are necessary. If you can't find a place on the outer walls of a cuboid room to power (which are indicated by the red/copper looking bars around the outside of circle rooms/square rooms and cuboid rooms and only disappear if you place something like a whole wall covering window), you can power something inside the cuboid room like a light you have placed on a wall inside, and it will give power to the whole building and everything inside/attached to it, barring a few objects which require their own power. edit: it did do this at one point, but then it hasn't since, so probably just ignore this, I might've experienced an unintentional bug? I dunno, door complications are stupid
May I ask. What is your rig set up? Your game runs so smooth. My game runs great on 1080p gtx 1070ti but when I build a big base it has so many fps drops. Ty
Some of it is obsolete. Came back to NMS for the first time since 2017 in the last couple weeks, and watched this video for a refresh, but immediately realized that Hello Games had changed the entire build-menu, making the technique for adjacency-glitching impossible, AFAIK. Take that with a grain of salt though, because I've just gotten back into the game, so I could likely be wrong.
The power holding the door closed is great for keeping plants and stuff behind a locked door that players cant get to, unless you dont care about taking a wall down everytime you're home
I don’t really like what they did to the doors. If we are going to be using the same circuit to make the doors automated why not just make them automated when you power them?
dude ... at 7:45 ... what about the waypoint method ? you said you have to build extra base computers, you can extend the limits of your base with the waypoint method you explained in a previous video.
You used to be able to build a catwalk using carbon-based short walls and ceiling tiles if they were attached to a cuboid room. Not sure if that is still valid. I think I'll try it tonight. Also, the new landing pads will snap to large room corridors.
You should have set the inverter to have both inputs from the proximity sensor, then it would have only pulled power to the inverter when you get in range.
I personally think NMS devs need to give us more freedom and less silly restrictions without the need to "glitch" i find building extremely fun but at the same time very limiting since i didnt k kw how to glitch build. for instance, you can't build a floor panel underneath a placed set of stairs it would seem. and god is it difficult to build a roof slipe as well, when it should be extremely simple. ypu have to pisition it perfectly otherwise its just red out.
@@tomtenak4967 He put it isn't "snapped" to anything. When you add a door on a landing pad it adds a little extension with the door incorporated into it. Adding things beyond that door will snap too low and you have a big step preventing you from crossing smoothly.
@Leorhit, if you cannot cannot get your landing pad to snap, or better yet even see snap points, run like 300ft from your base, and if you can't go that far, use the C camera to go further, for some stupid reason you don't see any green snap points unless you're really far away.
ey khraze i have a problem with the landing pad, the doorway that creates when you put a structure next it's like too deep from the inside and you need to jump to exit the building, there is way to fix this? or some stairs? srry my englando
I really hate how you have to see wires everywhere for everything now. I wish that if you attached something to something, they shared power via the side.
I still am interested in NMS, been so since the first day it got suggested to be announced.. but still don't have it... so this guide is helping me A LOT thx :D tho I'm curious.. the stairs and stuff... you delete them.. are you suggesting that you can just build in the sky? or is that part of the "glitch building" ?
I'm already tired of the wiring mess when you build using the basic structure components. I wish they'd of made it so the wood, concrete and metal pieces had a sort of conduit path built into them. WAIT at like 1:40 you said you'd normally "HIDE" the wires....? Is there a way to do that?
Zak ! You can build wires in segments what I like to do is run wires behind building and break it into one segment once I reach the building and run it up and across down to the outlet
if you're on pc, I think there's a mod to hide wires when you're not in build mode.(I saw it mentioned on the subreddit, but haven't looked at it personally)

how to build the pillar with cuboid at the top? like 9:03
I just put all my planters on the freighter it is automatically powered there so don't have to worry about wires.
biodomes are great
Are these obsolete now with the new building system??
Some of it is obsolete. Came back to NMS for the first time since 2017 in the last couple weeks, and watched this video for a refresh, but immediately realized that Hello Games had changed the entire build-menu, making the technique for adjacency-glitching impossible, AFAIK. Take that with a grain of salt though, because I've just gotten back into the game, so I could likely be wrong.

Okay, thanks man 👍🏻.
The power holding the door closed is great for keeping plants and stuff behind a locked door that players cant get to, unless you dont care about taking a wall down everytime you're home
I would love to do this but on the ps4 i keep hitting the base build limit and i have next to nothing even built!
Been waiting for this one.
OMG thank you for this video! I just wish we had the build camera in VR. Luckily we can just load up our saves on desktop for building. :)
Love all the great vids keep it up. Im really late game in my main save but these are still helpfull.
No mans sky gonna turn us into electricians yet lol
Make a man out of you yet
Khraze, you're a life saver, I was going nuts with the closed doors. It simply didn't make any sense to me why powered doors don't open.
Dude, awesome!!!! TY
thank you for these videos, you're teaching me a lot
I cannot build new base computer when I reach max height for sky base please help what do I need to do ?
Iam having the same problem I think they just patched it in the new bug fix update
Bro this is actually life saving!
I don’t really like what they did to the doors. If we are going to be using the same circuit to make the doors automated why not just make them automated when you power them?
Should do an updated beginner guide or a basic guide, for mid game players like how to unlock the extractor.
Is there any purpose to doors needing to open and close or is it just for aesthetics?
dude ... at 7:45 ... what about the waypoint method ? you said you have to build extra base computers, you can extend the limits of your base with the waypoint method you explained in a previous video.
Great tips
I hope they could add more logic gate, like OR, AND, XOR, NOT gate
Very usefull!
You used to be able to build a catwalk using carbon-based short walls and ceiling tiles if they were attached to a cuboid room. Not sure if that is still valid. I think I'll try it tonight. Also, the new landing pads will snap to large room corridors.
How did you make the pylone ?
What are these connections points? Are they called connections points or did you use a switch or something?
You should have set the inverter to have both inputs from the proximity sensor, then it would have only pulled power to the inverter when you get in range.
Wait, I’m kind of a newbie, but how to you get those giant windows for your base that’s not part of a prefab?
Quick question is there a way of using like photo mode to build with so I can just move the camera around?
No. But you have the build camera ( default c on pc) that does exactly that.
@@Khrazegaming Thanks Khraze! Im on ps4 its L3 if anyone else needs it. So much easier!
I personally think NMS devs need to give us more freedom and less silly restrictions without the need to "glitch"
i find building extremely fun but at the same time very limiting since i didnt k kw how to glitch build. for instance, you can't build a floor panel underneath a placed set of stairs it would seem. and god is it difficult to build a roof slipe as well, when it should be extremely simple. ypu have to pisition it perfectly otherwise its just red out.
Do the new power requirements apply to underwater bases? How would power generation work then? I haven't tried to build underwater yet.
So erm. Where's the link to the channel you learned this from? you said you'd put it i the description but I'm seeing only your videos.
How do you attach landing pads to bases now?
Doors
I gave up base building for now my doors keep vanishing and the snapping point on landing pad are broken.
Leorhit did you not watch the video? He literally snaps a landing pad in this video.
@@tomtenak4967 He put it isn't "snapped" to anything. When you add a door on a landing pad it adds a little extension with the door incorporated into it. Adding things beyond that door will snap too low and you have a big step preventing you from crossing smoothly.
It takes work to do what you want. It sounds like you’re just lazy and don’t wanna put in the work
@Leorhit, if you cannot cannot get your landing pad to snap, or better yet even see snap points, run like 300ft from your base, and if you can't go that far, use the C camera to go further, for some stupid reason you don't see any green snap points unless you're really far away.
Mad Skillz!
ey khraze i have a problem with the landing pad, the doorway that creates when you put a structure next it's like too deep from the inside and you need to jump to exit the building, there is way to fix this? or some stairs? srry my englando
I really hate how you have to see wires everywhere for everything now. I wish that if you attached something to something, they shared power via the side.
Agreed!
That's not how power works. If you plug a toaster, does the unplugged coffee maker next to it power up too?
@@THEPELADOMASTER in a game with FTL travel and critters that look like dicks with legs, why shouldn't power work that way?
Can we get an updated version of this video for the areas that have since been changed/added?
how did you build horizontal ramp?
Thank you! I built the ugliest base and feel like I have to step up my game. Will use many of these tips :)
I still am interested in NMS, been so since the first day it got suggested to be announced.. but still don't have it... so this guide is helping me A LOT thx :D
tho I'm curious.. the stairs and stuff... you delete them.. are you suggesting that you can just build in the sky? or is that part of the "glitch building" ?
My proximity switch stopped working and locked me inside the base. Oops!
8:58 teleporters - thanks for this tip!
