Videos back up! 🙌🏻Thank you for watching! Let us know which find you'd like to see in the window of wonders this week! For more adventures 👣 -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc8jD...
That's actually a pretty neat fossil! You might expect it's from a lepidodendron (a scaly tree-like fern) because it's in such an old material as shale near a coal seam but the morphology of the scale imprints shows that it's a lepidote (an early bony fish)! It's a nice big imprint too since the fish were only ~30cm long. Notice how the scale shape changes on one side to be more squished. That's where the fish's body curves around so you either have the dorsal half of the middle of one side of the fish or the back of the fish transitioning to the tail of a really big one. I'd guess it's Lepidotes maximus but you'd have to ask a paleoichthyologist to be sure. It has my vote for the window of wonders. Edit: It's shale so it'll degrade in water. Best to just keep it dusted.
That’s really interesting! Thank you so much for the information. We believe the fossils we find here are the shale thrown out from fire coal, we’ll have to keep our eyes peeled for more! 🥰
@@NorthernMudlarks What an incredible lot of treasures you found. Alex, you've got eagle eyes to have spotted that teensy little lavender bead. Your cat certainly was enjoying the sunshine and grass. My vote for the windowsill of wonders is the lover's ring, key, the Irish pipe and thistle pipe. Hope you both have a Happy Easter weekend. Greetings from eastern North Carolina!
The way they make tiny glass beads is amazing. They pull the glass out until it's very thin then quickly wind it around a pin rod. This creates the tiniest of beads. Incredible.
The thing you found was the handle of a tiered cake stand my grandmother had one and was very proud of it, it always came out on hay days and holidays! Xx
What a lovely exposition on the brass ring! I believe the fossil is Lepidodendron, one of the common tree ferns of the Carboniferous period, when much of today's coal was formed. It had a scaly bark often mistaken for reptile or fish scales.
Another great video. Can’t wait to see the find of a lifetime next week. I think that little Pug dog should have pride of place on the window this week
So many fun finds!! I like to look with you. I’m always thinking you’re going for one thing. But then you come up with something else. It’s so much fun Treasure Hunting with you.
Well you found some really lovely finds on this lark ladies. I adored the key all green and weathered. The thistle pipe was beautiful and so ornate and the little pug dog was so charming. I also fell most of all for the ring. I found it so sad that a treasured possession which stood for so much in someones life, ended up in the bin. Lost, but now found again. I'm looking forward to your next episode. I'm excited to see what you found . Xx
In the window please display that tiny pug (dog) figurine as it is in perfect pristine condition considering its years. Besides everybody loves a good tiny animal figurine.❤️
I have an idea for the school slates. You could paint inspiring words or phrases on them then put a hanger on the back so they can be displayed on a wall. The smaller ones could be attached to a wood plaque. I love the fossil and the marbles and hope you are planning to film the melting of the marbles. Wonderful idea. Just when I think you can't possibly improve your already awesome channel you prove me wrong. It has been a pleasure to watch the progression of it over the years. Thank you for all of your hard work and sharing your journey.
Hi Gail and Alex. Great video. Thanks. Loved the little pug dog, such a cutie, but not half as nice as darling tabby cat at the end. I just love her. Haven't seen Schwoo or cats much lately. Love to all. Xxxx
The pug, thistle pipe, and fossil bark (we find very similar in sandstone where I live) are my picks this week. The grouping of wonky bottles also look so lovely together.
That is a clock winding key that you found. The coal fossil I think is either from a plant or a reptile skin. A cake stand handle is what one of your finds looks like to me. Perhaps the ceramic pug needs a place in the window. Was pleased this video became viewable. Lying in bed on my birthday morning having breakfast watching the Northern Mudlarks. Yeah! Thanks.
Fantastic finds once again ladies! I think the wedding band has definately earned its place in your window this week! The long handle type thing eith the loop at the top looks like the top handle off a cake stand to me. I've made a few myself and the modern ones are very similar looking, it would be interesting to see if it has a thread inside at the bottom of it. Thank you for a lovely virtual trip out once again to your mystery foreshore ladies x
It’s so hard not to try to reach through the screen to pick something up. When you asked us if we could spot the find, I thought you were reaching for the blue bead a foot to the left of the pipe. So many things to choose for the window, but I’d choose the ring or the pug. I loved your kitty posing by the beautiful sponge ware pieces. I’m glad you were able to save the video!
I could watch you two Mudlark all day. You find some really great things. I don't know how you are able to stop and leave. You are both just lovely and enthusiastic. ❤🇺🇸
The lovely thistle pipe and the wee dog would be great additions to the window 🪟🙂 You’ve got me very curious for next weeks video. Can’t wait to see what the key has to do with it 🙂
Hello Ladies, the very very tiny seed bead is what we call a “charlotte” as they are the smallest seed beads used. I use them all the time in my jewellery work. The metal handle I use to have something like it on a afternoon tea cake platter which you would hold out to your guests to let them help themselves to a small cupcake.😊😊 Maybe one day when I finally get back to the UK I might just go for a fun time mudlarking myself when I return home to the Shetland’s 😊
That was realy enjoyable.i think its always calming when your down by the water.i think the little pug dog should gi into the window as a pet for Barbie but i don't think he would like the skull mask on her.so glad i was able to watch it there was no sound before.
Hello Northern Mudlarks as Always Another AweSome Video. I Think The Key And The Cut Glass Bottle Stopper,And The Pug Should Be On The Window Sill. If I Had A Place Like To Find Treasures I Would Never Be Home. What You Do Looks Like So Much Fun. Thanks Again For Sharing Such Great Videos😊👍
Hello Gail and Alex. I'm binge watching all your videos. This is my new favourite channel. Thank you for sharing your adventures and passion. Paula from South Africa.
Well I had sound and the video. I think the pug should go in the window of wonders and the thistle pipe. Great finds all day and can't wait to see next weeks. Goldilocks was lovely too and the marbles and bottles, its all lovely. Looking forward to next time we go hunting together as you really make my day. XX Can't reply on the latest video as youtube is playing up so sending you this. Fairy Acorn
I really enjoyed this adventure. The fossil is so awesome and the little pug and all the marbles, but my absolute favorite thing is the scottish thistle pipe and the irish pipe.
Wow! pipes galore! Fantastic video Ladies, I vote that the key goes into the window, it's very pretty and by the clues you gave it's important to something as well. Looking forward to next weeks video to see what that is! The little dog is so cute 💗😀 x
i love the sound of bone being used in wind chimes, so the bone handles and all could be hung from antique chains and the noise is so pretty, dense. and secretive.
Got super excited when I remembered you posted another video. A Lil light in my day, my dog passed today. Thank you for coming in a saving it, even if it's just alil.
My vote for the WoW.....the ring, the Thistle pipe and the pug dog. But I really love the key and the shape fossil as well. Much love from Las Vegas, Nevada, USA! 🥰🥰

I was panicking for a while! Saw the original video but couldn't react to it!
The little dog and the cut glass stopple bopper get my vote.
I second the little pug. So cute!
The pug figurine.
The cute miniature pug should be placed in the window. I so want to visit Scotland and England, maybe one day.
Tiny dollhouse pet, (Siamese cat or Pug dog?) and the treasure box key, please.
I love how you’re showing the item cleaned up and giving info as you find it! Really keeps your attention! ❤️
I love the little history bits as well.
Yes.
Agreed! Love the history that goes along with the item, thank you!
I agree 1000%!
I also love the formatting!
Yes! I was thinking that same thing. Thank you so much!

Pug dog for the window 👍

Love the sponge wear all around the dandelion ❤ I do think the little pug deserves a window seat 🥺
WOW! THAT RING IS BETTER THEN THE KEY! WHAT AN AWESOME FIND GAIL!
Wonderful video! I vote for the beautiful pipe with the leaves on it for the window!
Wonderful finds :) I vote for the little dog figuring.
I vote for the tiny pug dog for your weekly window. Thank you and carry on!
The way they make tiny glass beads is amazing. They pull the glass out until it's very thin then quickly wind it around a pin rod. This creates the tiniest of beads. Incredible.
You both find the most beautiful things Thankyou very much.

Thank you for inserting beautiful little bits of contemplative nature scenes into your videos!
I'm glad you got the sound fixed. I couldn't even leave a comment.
It looks like it could be a handle for a relish/condiment tray.
We had delete and re-upload the video. We have no idea what went wrong!
The thing you found was the handle of a tiered cake stand my grandmother had one and was very proud of it, it always came out on hay days and holidays! Xx
I agree
I was torn between cake stand top or top of a floor based ashtray.
I was on lamp finial! haha

Hi girls happy hunting today!!
Love the items this week! I vote the little pug into the window. However, those marbles are amazing!
Excellent. Fun time!
For the window this week it has to be the tiny porcelain pug puppy... so cute 💞💞💞💞💞

I'd love to find antique rings!
I love the amount of respect and love you show each find! Lovely!
For her finds but not the beach. Who breaks a cod neck glass bottle to get the marble and leaves the broken glass on the sand?
