I am a fan of brotherhood of steel east 🤩 elder Lyons did a lot of good for the communities and people in the waste. Tho elder Lyons didn't invest in the future of his Lyons brotherhood of steel in my opinion they were the best. Imagine if Lyons did invest tho, they would of definitely expanded all over the east coast similar to how well NCR expanded.
The problem is... the Brotherhood were an elite group because of their careful selection of initiates and reclutes to the cause. Lyon's had good intentions, but at the end of the day, they were trying to help everyone, and the Brotherhood was being destroyed because of it. They weren't that many members, they couldn't hold the whole Capital Wasteland as a protective force for that long. It would force them to accept all manner of reclutes from civilians, then reducing his effective personel to mere militia. Look at the Minutemen in that regard. Being closed and selective of their forces, plus their mission of technology safekeeping and not doing charity, is what made them such a heavy force.
Maxons East brotherhood returns to the original mission proposed by the founder of the brotherhood of steel. The west coast brother hood neglected the outside world, hoarding technology purely for the sake of hoarding it with no plans for when or how they would reintroduce it back into civilization and fulfill the original mission of being the stewards of humanity. Imo the lyons brotherhood rejected this and instead tried reintroducing basically all they had back into civilization as a form of charity, thus neglecting the other original purpose to regulate and control technology, especially technology that would be very dangerous in the wrong hands. So I guess you could look at it as a combination of both branches but really it’s a full return to the original mission.
