Tanks would utterly destroy these suits. Remember power armour replaced tanks not because they were better, but they used less resources namely oil. Also tank design never seems to lift off very high past the Sherman design( no abrams or challenger 2 as far as I know) God knows why they didn’t just power tanks with the fusion cores! America pretty much created the source of unlimited clean energy right there.

It allows a artillery crew to shrink down to a single person, able to ambush tanks and damage them. It’s a device that if we follow the tactics of the trench warfare in anchorage, it basically lets a sorta storm trooper style tactic, letting the squad not only take a trench, but, thanks to the heavy weapons it allows usage of, also somewhat hold said trench.

This is something that irritated me a bit. Why does the Brotherhood of Steel not make use of the Enclave Power Armor? Specifically the Hellfire Version. It did not make much sense to me, wasting all of those acquired power armors by not using them. More well armed trooper = more efficent army.

8:56 - I'm no huge lore nerd, so I could be wrong, but I don't remember in the first game most of the brotherhood members having Power Armor... most of them had either Combat Armor or robes. They don't give you one after joining either, you have to repair one from scrap parts. Enclave gives them away like a standard uniform. That's why it's so easy to get one in Fallout 2 if you can bullshit your way through the drill sergeant.

X-01 was produced by the enclave pre-war, it was too secret, and was completed the day that the bombs fell, the research was lost by the enclave and all prototypes were lost due to the bombs, so they had to start over on their research and eventually re-produced it post war.
I know the location of two x-01 power amrours in fallout 4 in is literally not that far from the vault head north .and a bit from robcio junk yard Wich has some fusion cores and a fat man launcher and two fat man's . The second one is at fort hagen in the check post I recommend getting it after you clear the island of super mutians just so you don't lose the suit because of how damaged it is.

I'd rather have the T-60 as a cheaper alternative to the T-51b suits, which are the old T-45d suits that got upgraded with more armour, lighter materials and Fusion Packs similar to the T-51b. The armour will be superior to the T-45d, but it will be slower and weaker than the pinnacle of power armour.
Fun fact: The comic perks for power armor, with a jetpack and plasma rifle where kinda reference to the novel Starship Troopers, Robert A Heinlen's novel book where a soldier wears a powerful and mobile power armor to fight Pseudo Arachnids, and the fallout power armor resembles that from a description from the novel, the power armor in Starship troopers resembles that of a steel gorilla.
There's something that has bothered me about power armor since fallout 4 came out. If the game is set roughly 10 years after the events of fallout 3 and the Brotherhood of Steel chapter is the same one from fallout 3, Then how come they don't have any hellfire suits? I mean they had enough technical expertise to build the Prydwen out of nothing more than scrap and a few old schematics, you'd think they could have comfortably been able to salvage if not completely reverse engineer the hellfire suit.

I know that the Brother Hood and the larger settlements of that area formed somewhat of a loosely tied governing body over the area and goal was to kill the super mutants and pacify the raiders and anything else that presented a problem. (Cough Cough Deathclaws Cough) Also they did reverse engineer the suits and used it to upgrade their own.

Hellfires probably require special alloys or other resources the Brotherhood can't currently access in sufficient quantities to arm everyone, and we know that the Brotherhood prefers to armor everyone in the same suit to ease logistics. They went for the T-60 upgrade in all likelihood because the T-60 was originally built as a T-45 upgrade, making it easier to convert their existing T-45 stock.
Some correction regarding locations: Raven Rock was not exactly a military base like. Maelstrom AFB, Adams AFB and others in the US. It was specifically designed to be a safety bunker, fallout shelter for high ranking government officials and the presidency. It is a real world location, altough as far as I know the exact layout of the place as well as its location has been made public, so I highly suspect it has been replaced in favor of another such place which is still classified.
And for some reason the tesla armour in Fallout 4 was a t-60 model. And we're also stuck with the base X-01 suit instead of getting the rest of the suits. Though, I suppose that would make sense, since the enclave don't seem to have made an appearance in the commonwealth. Perhaps future DLC?
Enclave is remnant of pre-war government so it sort of makes sense that they would have occupied old pre-war government buildings where the X-01 is found

I feel like according to Fallout 4 t-45 was the first but..... in Fallout the first game there is t-51b and thats the power armor used in the battle of Anchorage. So I'm pretty sure t-51b was the first power armor according to the original lore of Fallout not Bethesdas bullshit.

I think fallout 4 retconned power armors by introducing a power armor frame. It was always said that a power armor is like a house with ventilation and recycling systems and you can poop and shit anytime inside but in 4 its just like something like a temporary power up with a quick battery
They are treated like vehicles with gas in FO 4. In the classic games they behave like armor. Yes they affected your stats positively or negatively sometimes, like -1 Agility but it was a suit.

the Midwestern power armor is most likely to be a power armor repaired by scrap they could find considering that they were stranded by the blimp crash at the beginning of their campaign. as for the design they were near vault zero which held some of the greatest minds so the design could have been made by engineers perhaps ahead even more advanced then the enclave.

If I were to give an designation and lore to a new series of power armor, I would have it NB-13, It would have high ballistic damage resistance but its weakness would be energy weapons, Because it wouldn't have any energy damage resistance, They're only given to Sentinels of the BoS and the suits are extremely rare to find out in the commonwealth, Only about 2 suits remain out there in the commonwealth, The rest in the BoS's hands. Also the BoS have been researching this power armor and have made some improvements, This is the NB-14, This would have the same ballistic resistance but with better energy damage resistance. To get a suit, Your gonna need to find an BoS sentinel and get lucky to kill him and take his suit, That's why the suits are incredibly rare, The BoS have the blueprints and that's why they have so many. That's NB-13's lore. Like it?
In reality this armor would be useful only against small gun fire while anything above 12 mm would easily penetrate it. This is not anti-tank armor, this is more like house cleaning armor against enemy personnel. So if you wonder how US defeated Chinese tanks with this, it didn't but this armor is better in urban warfare aka in cities. Tank in the city is just large target that can be knocked from every window, this armor would use inside of the buildings as cover. US military is developing this armor in reality of course. Strategically this armor is more effective than tank, but there is lots of weapons that can easily punch a hole through it. (hence: 50.cal or anti-tank rifle)
+Paladin Black umm not in power armor... If give them big movement speed you need extra power and energy of suit will last less and mechanically it would be more complex. Modern MBT have 120-140mm guns, give them high explosive ammo and no... You can't survive that... Nor even 100m from explosion. It's pretty devastating which means tanks don't have to be accurate to kill you, they need to shoot in radius of 100-200m around you. Power armor would be useful against tanks only in city. Note that modern strategies like used in WWII have one logic: destroy city before you capture it. Which means only in rare occasions they will send MBT in city. Light armor vehicles are mostly equipped with 12 mm machine guns and would also represent threat to power armor. It's still has potential because the best usage would be in capturing of buildings.
Actually modern tanks have anti-armor solutions that consist of kinetic sabot rounds (variants of this such as APFSDS rounds) and HEAT rounds that rely on the Munroe effect from shaped charges. It could be speculated that the alloys and countermeasures in the power armor could mitigate or even defeat hits from AT weapons (I personally find this theory questionable), that is, if the tank's gunner could even land a direct hit on a highly mobile man sized target (usually people sized targets just get bursts from the coaxial-machine gun, not to mention the considerable length of time it takes to reload the main gun if you miss). And even if the tank crew opted to attempt to kill the power armor's operator with concussive force with HE rounds fired within 50m of said operator: Fallout 4 shows that power armor is capable of absorbing incredible amounts of shock without any harm coming to the operator (just jump off of a skyscraper in any power armor and youll see what i mean). In short, your argument is invalid.
I really don't like how Bethesda retconned the T-60 power armor into the lore of the game. The T-51b was the most advanced up until Oct 23, 2077. They could've easily come up with any other way to put new power armor designs into their game, like for ex. the Brotherhood developed it like how the post-apocalypse Enclave created its X-01 and other F3 power armors, the later which also feel a bit on the retcon side. It certainly wouldn't have been that much of a strech, given their technology and PA expertise, and probably available documentation about the existing ones. They also could've payed extra attention to the locations where said armors could've been found, implicating abandoned brotherhood or enclave locations, or old US military installations or transports for the T-45 and T-51. Who said there couldn't have been transient Brotherhood or Enclave presence in the Boston area in the past, given their flying capabilities.

They don't need it, they have an endless supply of synth, in battle, all they have to do is flooding the battle field with synth. Plus the have coursers, those guys might not be as strong as power armor users, but they should be much more powerful than elite soldiers.
this video needs an update recently we find out that X-01 was pre-war. We find this out in the Nuka World DLC, the enclave would have finished where they left off before the bombs, then used that to make their armor. It honestly makes more sense then to start from scratch.
I think their should be a DLC bringing back the Enclave or forming the Enclave from the Ashes to contest the East Coast BOS or take the NorthWest Brotherhood and bring them to Boston and have both brotherhoods fight.
I was thinking having a dlc where everybody's moving to the commonwealth because of the relative peace and a "raider defense force" I mean, honestly I'm ok with living in the commonwealth in comparison to the Mohave because of the rather tranquil environment where the Mohave makes me want to wish for a nuclear winter (Alaska anyone?) and DC because we have to worry about slavers, supermutants (lot more) although it is nice that they have a quick supply line to a steel forging location. That and the minutemen have mortars, and the current BOS there, and if there are peace talks between the the Minutemen and BOS maybe we could get rid of the city raiders
Well actually a power armor cant replace a tonk i mean: Ww2 era soviet heavy tanks lile the IS2 had a 122 Mm cannon and a lot of armor on the front.... Power armor you can actually see that the armor actually is a flat metal sheet with a bit of thickness i think it can stop probably 50. Cal..... but not a 122 mm shell... sooo yep I remember the idea was to make more movile the us infantry and more armored for certain places like cities (acrually the cities in fallout concept where inmense like those art deco old pics not what we actually see on the game) but like one or 2 power armored troops on a squad not like 500 power armored troopers so for that role is perfect but not as a tank as well a tank is pretty bad on urban environments and power armored troopers could move more easy... X-01 was produced by the enclave pre-war, it was too secret, and was completed the day that the bombs fell, the research was lost by the enclave and all prototypes were lost due to the bombs, so they had to start over on their research and eventually re-produced it post war.
I know the location of two x-01 power amrours in fallout 4 in is literally not that far from the vault head north .and a bit from robcio junk yard Wich has some fusion cores and a fat man launcher and two fat man's .
The second one is at fort hagen in the check post I recommend getting it after you clear the island of super mutians just so you don't lose the suit because of how damaged it is.
except Nuka World has a suit of X-01.. not top secret

I'd rather have the T-60 as a cheaper alternative to the T-51b suits, which are the old T-45d suits that got upgraded with more armour, lighter materials and Fusion Packs similar to the T-51b. The armour will be superior to the T-45d, but it will be slower and weaker than the pinnacle of power armour.

Fun fact: The comic perks for power armor, with a jetpack and plasma rifle where kinda reference to the novel Starship Troopers, Robert A Heinlen's novel book where a soldier wears a powerful and mobile power armor to fight Pseudo Arachnids, and the fallout power armor resembles that from a description from the novel, the power armor in Starship troopers resembles that of a steel gorilla.

There's something that has bothered me about power armor since fallout 4 came out. If the game is set roughly 10 years after the events of fallout 3 and the Brotherhood of Steel chapter is the same one from fallout 3, Then how come they don't have any hellfire suits? I mean they had enough technical expertise to build the Prydwen out of nothing more than scrap and a few old schematics, you'd think they could have comfortably been able to salvage if not completely reverse engineer the hellfire suit.
+nuckingfutsguy They are probably keeping those suits in the Capital Wasteland to effectively police the area. I know that the Brother Hood and the larger settlements of that area formed somewhat of a loosely tied governing body over the area and goal was to kill the super mutants and pacify the raiders and anything else that presented a problem. (Cough Cough Deathclaws Cough) Also they did reverse engineer the suits and used it to upgrade their own.
Since the BoS hates new tech, there is also the possibility that they savaged most of the enclave armors, which makes me kinda sad
they don't hate new tech they just think that most technology needs to be preserved and kept out of the hands of anybody in the wasteland that isn't them.

Hellfires probably require special alloys or other resources the Brotherhood can't currently access in sufficient quantities to arm everyone, and we know that the Brotherhood prefers to armor everyone in the same suit to ease logistics. They went for the T-60 upgrade in all likelihood because the T-60 was originally built as a T-45 upgrade, making it easier to convert their existing T-45 stock.
Some correction regarding locations: Raven Rock was not exactly a military base like. Maelstrom AFB, Adams AFB and others in the US. It was specifically designed to be a safety bunker, fallout shelter for high ranking government officials and the presidency. It is a real world location, altough as far as I know the exact layout of the place as well as its location has been made public, so I highly suspect it has been replaced in favor of another such place which is still classified.
And for some reason the tesla armour in Fallout 4 was a t-60 model. And we're also stuck with the base X-01 suit instead of getting the rest of the suits. Though, I suppose that would make sense, since the enclave don't seem to have made an appearance in the commonwealth. Perhaps future DLC?
One question, how is the xo1 found in prewar buildings in fo4?

Enclave is remnant of pre-war government so it sort of makes sense that they would have occupied old pre-war government buildings where the X-01 is found

I feel like according to Fallout 4 t-45 was the first but..... in Fallout the first game there is t-51b and thats the power armor used in the battle of Anchorage. So I'm pretty sure t-51b was the first power armor according to the original lore of Fallout not Bethesdas bullshit.

I think fallout 4 retconned power armors by introducing a power armor frame. It was always said that a power armor is like a house with ventilation and recycling systems and you can poop and shit anytime inside but in 4 its just like something like a temporary power up with a quick battery
They are treated like vehicles with gas in FO 4. In the classic games they behave like armor. Yes they affected your stats positively or negatively sometimes, like -1 Agility but it was a suit.

the Midwestern power armor is most likely to be a power armor repaired by scrap they could find considering that they were stranded by the blimp crash at the beginning of their campaign. as for the design they were near vault zero which held some of the greatest minds so the design could have been made by engineers perhaps ahead even more advanced then the enclave.

they do have "power armor" have for years just never done anything with em since first waves of em was moremof a power exoskeleton but couldnt figure the battery out being as it had to hve a shit ton of power to move the hydraulics to help the person lift heavy things an such if need be an to bulky so they have been workin on makin a better ome but have enough powerr an now they released a new armor set that essentially turns to "liquid" when struck by a bullet so it doesnt damage the armor or whatever an protects the user it jusr looks like a paintball suit or airsoft armor but is built like a tank

The t-51 saw battle in Alaska the t-60 was the one at fort strong and was given to police later the x-01 was made by the enclave the Chinese invisibility suit was made during the creation of the t-51 then the stealth boy was made

If I were to give an designation and lore to a new series of power armor, I would have it NB-13, It would have high ballistic damage resistance but its weakness would be energy weapons, Because it wouldn't have any energy damage resistance, They're only given to Sentinels of the BoS and the suits are extremely rare to find out in the commonwealth, Only about 2 suits remain out there in the commonwealth, The rest in the BoS's hands. Also the BoS have been researching this power armor and have made some improvements, This is the NB-14, This would have the same ballistic resistance but with better energy damage resistance. To get a suit, Your gonna need to find an BoS sentinel and get lucky to kill him and take his suit, That's why the suits are incredibly rare, The BoS have the blueprints and that's why they have so many. That's NB-13's lore. Like it?

In reality this armor would be useful only against small gun fire while anything above 12 mm would easily penetrate it. This is not anti-tank armor, this is more like house cleaning armor against enemy personnel. So if you wonder how US defeated Chinese tanks with this, it didn't but this armor is better in urban warfare aka in cities. Tank in the city is just large target that can be knocked from every window, this armor would use inside of the buildings as cover. US military is developing this armor in reality of course. Strategically this armor is more effective than tank, but there is lots of weapons that can easily punch a hole through it. (hence: 50.cal or anti-tank rifle)

+Paladin Black umm not in power armor... If give them big movement speed you need extra power and energy of suit will last less and mechanically it would be more complex. Modern MBT have 120-140mm guns, give them high explosive ammo and no... You can't survive that... Nor even 100m from explosion. It's pretty devastating which means tanks don't have to be accurate to kill you, they need to shoot in radius of 100-200m around you.
Power armor would be useful against tanks only in city. Note that modern strategies like used in WWII have one logic: destroy city before you capture it. Which means only in rare occasions they will send MBT in city. Light armor vehicles are mostly equipped with 12 mm machine guns and would also represent threat to power armor. It's still has potential because the best usage would be in capturing of buildings.

Actually modern tanks have anti-armor solutions that consist of kinetic sabot rounds (variants of this such as APFSDS rounds) and HEAT rounds that rely on the Munroe effect from shaped charges. It could be speculated that the alloys and countermeasures in the power armor could mitigate or even defeat hits from AT weapons (I personally find this theory questionable), that is, if the tank's gunner could even land a direct hit on a highly mobile man sized target (usually people sized targets just get bursts from the coaxial-machine gun, not to mention the considerable length of time it takes to reload the main gun if you miss). And even if the tank crew opted to attempt to kill the power armor's operator with concussive force with HE rounds fired within 50m of said operator: Fallout 4 shows that power armor is capable of absorbing incredible amounts of shock without any harm coming to the operator (just jump off of a skyscraper in any power armor and youll see what i mean). In short, your argument is invalid.

I really don't like how Bethesda retconned the T-60 power armor into the lore of the game. The T-51b was the most advanced up until Oct 23, 2077. They could've easily come up with any other way to put new power armor designs into their game, like for ex. the Brotherhood developed it like how the post-apocalypse Enclave created its X-01 and other F3 power armors, the later which also feel a bit on the retcon side. It certainly wouldn't have been that much of a strech, given their technology and PA expertise, and probably available documentation about the existing ones. They also could've payed extra attention to the locations where said armors could've been found, implicating abandoned brotherhood or enclave locations, or old US military installations or transports for the T-45 and T-51. Who said there couldn't have been transient Brotherhood or Enclave presence in the Boston area in the past, given their flying capabilities.

They don't need it, they have an endless supply of synth, in battle, all they have to do is flooding the battle field with synth. Plus the have coursers, those guys might not be as strong as power armor users, but they should be much more powerful than elite soldiers.

this video needs an update recently we find out that X-01 was pre-war. We find this out in the Nuka World DLC, the enclave would have finished where they left off before the bombs, then used that to make their armor. It honestly makes more sense then to start from scratch.

I think their should be a DLC bringing back the Enclave or forming the Enclave from the Ashes to contest the East Coast BOS or take the NorthWest Brotherhood and bring them to Boston and have both brotherhoods fight.
I was thinking having a dlc where everybody's moving to the commonwealth because of the relative peace and a "raider defense force" I mean, honestly I'm ok with living in the commonwealth in comparison to the Mohave because of the rather tranquil environment where the Mohave makes me want to wish for a nuclear winter (Alaska anyone?) and DC because we have to worry about slavers, supermutants (lot more) although it is nice that they have a quick supply line to a steel forging location. That and the minutemen have mortars, and the current BOS there, and if there are peace talks between the the Minutemen and BOS maybe we could get rid of the city raiders

I remember the idea was to make more movile the us infantry and more armored for certain places like cities (acrually the cities in fallout concept where inmense like those art deco old pics not what we actually see on the game) but like one or 2 power armored troops on a squad not like 500 power armored troopers so for that role is perfect but not as a tank as well a tank is pretty bad on urban environments and power armored troopers could move more easy...
But thats my opinion of course!
