  • In this video we leave Moab, UT and head to the beautiful mountain of Colorado to explore the Ophir Pass trail and tackle the famous Black Bear Pass. Ophir Pass is a short, easy and very scenic trail that you an run in just under 2 hours. Black Bear Pass is a longer and much more challenging trail with a steep hill decent, tight switchbacks and some very narrow sections of trail with sheer cliff to one side. Your technical driving skills will need to be at their best for this trail. #blackbearpass #ophirpass #jeepwrangler

    I've been working two jobs for a month now in order to save up for a new Jeep. It's gonna be my first Jeep; and hopefully the first of many. It's not easy as I'm not used to working 16-18 hours a day, but I'm hanging in there. Your videos have been one of the main reasons I haven't given up. I can't help but dream about all the things I'll be doing once I've accomplished owning one; not that I've been having any dreams lately lol. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for your videos

      Your hard work will pay off and once you get the keys to your new rig and get to go have some great adventures, it will all be worth it!

      txlbmx JHope I would, but the Rubicon is one of my dream cars. I would much rather just work my butt off right now while I've got my heart set on it; than to just get a placeholder car and put it off for some more time. I don't think I'd forgive myself if I put myself through this only to come up short. Plus, I'm not just saving up for the car itself, but also the mods and just rainy days in general.

I’m new to the channel but have checked out a few of your vids. Great work, I’m so jealous. There is nothing scenery wise here in the Midwest like the places you’ve been to. When I was 12, my dad drove our loaded down old Willys Jeep over that trail in 1970 with Mom and my bro. Sandwiches, dog, guns, whiskey, no flats, maps or walkie-talkies, no drama, nothing but net. We thought nothing of it, went searching for tougher terrain. He even let my 14 year-old brother drive Black Bear for a spell.

      The nice thing about trail etiquette is helping others in need no matter the rig or situation. My comment was not of jealousy but of the memory. My son has since passed but I doubt many children with muscular dystrophy have experienced the places first hand that he did.

    • @sublime929
      @sublime929 5 лет назад +2

      Most of what is done to these rigs is out of a love for modifying and upgrading. Competent driving skills go a long way. A stock 4X4 will go everywhere a heavily modified rig will go with the exception of the toughest trails. Sure maybe not as easy but it can be done. For what these guys like to do there is no such thing as "over" prepared. Just in case...

    I went to Ouray a few years ago in my FJ Cruiser and absolutely loved it. My rig had mild lift, lockers, armored up underneath, winch, etc. Was exhilarating to travel the various roads up in area... Imogene, Ophir, Black Bear Pass, Engineer, Poughkeepsie, etc. Definitely for faint of heart in couple areas especially the off camber on Black Bear looking down over I think it was Telluride. LOL

    Man no kidding about the wet tires after the little waterfall, I had my stock XJ and I I actually slid and high centered myself at that spot, just barely. That piece of wood u can see in the video is actually how I got out, I just put it under one of the tires. Poor mans maxtrax lol

Next time you guys are there, take Imogene over into Telluride, easy-medium slightly easier than BlackBear, and the Views! Oops got to the end of the video so you already have. Thanks for highlighting my favorite places :)

    There was one spot on Ophir that was a little sketchy in a stock jeep cherokee.... We were coming from silverton to telluride. Was after the pass, was right by a switchback, had one wheel off the ground for a split sec. I did black bear when i was 14, older cousins are half crazy and it scared the crap out of me! Last dollar road is an easy but pretty trail also, from just outside Telluride over towards Ouray. Great spot to watch planes take off out of Telluride and what a trip that airport is!! Nice video!

    Drove Black Bear a number of years ago in our stock Rubicon. I'd worked myself up a bit over the whole thing but was most concerned about the switchbacks -turned out the steps were more unnerving. I predicted, however, that having done it once I'd want to do it again but, like you, I was happy to say I'd been there, done that and moved on. Also drove Imogene after lunch in KTEX and that made for a long day! Thanks for posting!
