- The worlds of music and entertainment Wednesday mourned the loss of dynamic singer/dancer/actress Tina Turner, the undisputed Queen of Rock 'n Roll who died in Switzerland at age 83 following a long illness.
I grew up with Miss Tina Turner, she was a living legend all by herself, wow what an icon, from poverty to extreme wealth retiring to the French Riviera all the way from the cotton fields of Tennessee to Switzerland in her 5 story chalet, to millions of fans all around the world, we love you and thank you for all you gave to the music industry.❤
Legends never die. Tina will live on in our memories, hearts and her timeless music. R. I. P

She was a true inspiration. It is a testament to the fact that life begins at 40. You could reinvent yourself and take your whole life and put a line through it. And end up a star in your own right! RIP Queen of Rock N Roll.

I remember watching her in the 60s with Ike but Tina Turner stood out and when she sang and danced I felt the impulse to dance along with her as a young girl. Also, when I learned about her abusive husband it taught women to stand up and not allow someone to humiliate you or put you down but to leave as soon as one can. That is what I did in my marriage because no one should put up with verbal and physical abuse from anyone! I will miss you and thank God for you - RIP Tina!

I remember how big "what's love got to do" was in Ghana when it was released.
As a lil girl I always stopped whatever I was doing to dance to it each time I heard it.

A person who was not like other world artist, she had loads of hits, but still she was a little more like the rest of us, she had no scandals etc...
I think that Tina was like a part of people's lives, you heard her sing on the radio every day and then you could sing along, because most people knew the lyrics.
Honestly, I think she became a part of people's lives in a different way than other artists like Elvis for example, she was a huge star, undoubtedly she was a world star, but it wasn't written about her like other such big stars, so she didn't get that hysteria around her like Elvis, for example.
A star that was there a little more in the background, but she was there all the time, as a dear part of everyday life, I think her music will be remembered for a long time, so rest in peace Tina...

I hate these types of breaking news reports, because as soon as you heard her voice, you knew it wasn't good news. The passing of entertainers that you listened to and admired while you were growing up is always very sad, but this one hit especially hard.

I remember Tina Turner in the 80's. She was a big star. Powerful and beautiful songs with a good voice. When you see her picture, you feel better because of her super grooming. She has good teeth and smile. I like also her hair. Her smile is also very nice that shows she is a person with beautiful heart.

The first woman who had a nr 1 on Billboard. And sang duet with Bryan Adams , Mick Jagger and David Bowie just to mention 3. Iconic Queen.
For sixteen years, her husband beat her.
But on this night, Tina Turner washed the blood from her face, wrapped a cape around her bloodied clothes, covered her eyes with a pair of sunglasses, and placed a wrap on her head, because the swelling was so bad, she couldn’t wear her wig.
She ran out of the hotel, hid among the trash cans, and then ran to the Ramada Inn, where she begged for a room.
All she had was thirty-six cents and a Mobil credit card.
But after sixteen years of cruelty, she finally walked out on Ike Turner.
To be clear, it wasn’t easy. She was so worried about her safety, she stayed with friends, paying her way by keeping house. It got so bad that Tina Turner-the Tina Turner-had to use food stamps.
And yes, it’s incredible that Tina Turner built her career back from nothing.
But what’s even more incredible is the battle cry she repeated inside her head-the battle cry that gave her strength: “I will die before I go back.”
Never forget it: No matter how deep the hole is, you can always find a way out.
In their divorce, Tina Turner gave Ike nearly everything. All their money. And the publishing royalties for her compositions. “You take everything I’ve made in the last sixteen years,” she said. “I’ll take my future.”
