You go do what you want after you pass. Well, if you're even aware you're dead. You may not be as strong a high frequency as these motherfuckers or Olympian athletes. What do you really know bro? Maybe Layne could've been reincarnated if he had the ability to choose. Energy can't be created or destroyed.

If every one of you who kicked, and can stay off would just tell a dozen people to never touch the shit would be a great public service. I'm so glad I've never got caught up in the skag, junk, dope, whatever you want to call it. Seems like those who get hooked walk through a door they can never come back out of because even if you're clean the urge is always there. Good for those who can give it up, and if you can't, keep trying

Born & raised in SeaTown, I was fortunate to see everyone from
Mother Love Bone, Nirvana, PearlJam, Soundgarden, MudHoney,
SuperSuckers, Melvins, Screaming Trees, Candlebox, Temple of the Dog,
Alice in Chains in the late 80's thru mid 90's and this show, Mad
Seasons, standing just left of center balcony level. watching many
different band members from different bands descend down into their own
abiss and prisons, weakening physically, emotionally, and vocally, but
this was a very special night and show whereas a mutual appreciation
between band and audience grew as the night progressed, and you could
see a light on in Layne that i hadnt seen in some earlier AIC shows. It
was truly a magically time to be alive, and to witness one of Rock's
all time greats taken too soon from us.Enjoy and if you are suffering
and dealing with addiction or mental health, talk to someone, be
proactive and know there is hope and a better way to live!

No human being can be as flawless of a singer as Layne without some vices his happened to be drugs. The amount of pressure to nail it perfectly every time the pressure from his record label to produce to tour in withdrawal constantly must have been overwhelming the weight of having to carry such a burden everywhere he went must have pushed him into seclusion to see himself beautiful and amazing whither away into oblivion must have been horrible and frightening, embarrassing, and disappointing. Is there anything left to feel every single day that wouldn't destroy a person? I'm so sorry Layne I get it and there will never be another like you thank you for gift.

  • @tiffanyhouchin6055

I LOVE LAYNE!!!! Layne sounded better live than on CD, the energy of the performing in the open air of a venue just juices him musically like nothing else... He didn't need to rehearse per se, his voice was never anything less than AMAZING! Yeah, when other people are in a band with you everything needs to be tight, but his voice was just phenomenal. No one can touch it. I want to go back to 1995...or maybe a few years earlier and watch him, Never did get to see him live. We lost so much after losing Layne. 1996 is when his long time girlfriend/fiancee Demri Died of an overdose. This was just a year before...I don't think he cared as much after she was gone. I was born thirteen years after Layne, damn did I miss out, on so many bands, but I did live to see them when they were alive at least on TV, some in concert. I wish was a little older and had the option of going to more concerts, or maybe just going to Seattle to live and join the scene. We have not had a musical talent explosion like the Seattle takeover around 88-2000 since the sixties. WILL we ever see anything like this again? Layne is irreplaceable. He had it all except every day he woke up feeling dead in a way we can't comprehend. I feel lucky to have been there to see MTV play AIC and all of the sweetness of the 1990's. What ever happened to the old MTV that really was MUSIC TELEVISION? Today it is mostly crap, gone are the glory days of REAL MUSIC VIDEOS! We need new music. The crap that these rich and gigantic record companies put out today is a poor excuse for music and is intended to be autotuned, nevermind talent or ability, just throw the "performer" at a plastic surgeon and autotune their voice, give them some prewritten songs to use and voila! A new act to drag in the dollars. Makes me sick to see "Taylor Swift" on here with millions of views from kids who have no idea what music really is.
Rest in Peace Layne, WE MISS YOU! DAMN IT! WHY DID YOU LEAVE US? WE LOVE YOU FOREVER. See you one day, I hope. Can't wait to see the band in heaven. It seems to get larger every week. This year we have already lost too many, BOWIE released his last album, had a birthday, then promptly died. Then others, famous and talented, all getting older or sick and dying on us. They lived rough and too many others have died young. Hope you have found peace, Layne. I believe you have. Love, Tif

I absolutely love Mad Season and AIC - the best bands in music history because of beautiful, sweet Layne. He has such a beautiful voice filled with so much sadness, and the lyrics with guitars are so amazing. There is just something about Layne that really touched my heart so much that I created a music studio in my home and decorated the studio with pictures from this Mad Season concert at the Moore and AIC MTV Unplugged - two best concerts in music history. And Layne is so beautiful inside out. Everyone keeps saying how bad he looks during these shows, but I think he looks very beautiful. His hair is soooooo very beautiful. Just a really beautiful guy. I can't really talk about beautiful Layne in the past because he lives on through his amazing music. Also, when I found out that he is wearing gloves to cover his track marks, that made me feel even more sad. I wish someone helped this amazing, beautiful guy. Every time I watch this concert and MTV Unplugged, wanna give beautiful Layne a huge hug

THIS? Was SO much fun to watch. The part where the guys start getting a little playful with the music-- it brings a sense of lightheartedness to something very profound. Lovely see Layne obviously so engaged and thriving here. I can't help thinking that if all the band members had been allowed to stick with Mad Season instead of having to go back to their contractual obligations with their bands, Layne might have been saved, after all. Thank you to whoever shared this glimpse of this amazing timein music. :-)

This guy was adored by millions!!
And most of us loved him because of his insane talents!
He could play the drums, he wrote the most amazing lyrics and he sang like no one else!
But it seems like it's never good enough for them. Or they don't believe people who tell them how great they are.
      It's so sad.
You mention Kurt Cobain. I'd say Scott Weiland also was pretty much the same. Amy Winehouse too.

I never saw Layne live. I was a young fan in the early 90's, and loved AIC... Because of Layne's voice mostly... Layne always felt alone in a crowd. I miss you so much Layne. He felt dead inside long before he left us. I miss his presence on Earth. He made it a better place. Crying now. RIP Layne, Hope you found happiness that eluded you down here on this dirthole.

He tried, he had already paid for and attended "the best" rehab facilities in the country 13 times. I guess some people are past the point of an N/A meeting working for them. It's sad, but I think Layne just kind of accepted the fact that he was going to let his addiction win, but I do give him props for trying. He really did try, he backed out of huge multi-million dollar gigs (like touring with Metallica in 1994) to go to rehab again. As the years went by, Layne became more and more reclusive, then his health and appearance started deteriorating (which made his stray away from the public & media even more b/c they had bashed him and talked negatively about him so much in the past), and before you know it, all the positive influences slowly start to fade away & there you are...alone with your addiction...so I can see how his addiction progressed. I know he knew he was dying, he even said "Slow suicide's no way to go" in the "Wake Up" lyrics in 1995, and I believe he just accepted it & thought it was his fate----I just hate thinking about how afraid & helpless and alone he may have felt in his last days, when in reality he had millions of fans who would've given anything to be by his side, or even just speak to him for 5 minutes. His lyrics & music saved so many people's lives---I just wish he would've known that he was so much more than just a musician/artist...he spoke directly to people's soul...he was a HERO. I wish more than anything he was still here, but I am grateful for the beautiful music and legacy that he left behind. But he did try to get help...13 times. RIP Layne **WE LOVE YOU**

I respect everyone that has battled with addiction and won and recovered and for those that can't be with us today from addiction you are greatly loved and missed and you will never be forgotten

Dixie T OH MY GOD! You are so ignorant. He was clean during this time. Do your research! Mad season was a band created by Mike mccready when he met baker in a rehab facility in MN. Mike jammed with bakers a few times and tgen came up with idea to be in a new band with members who were all clean. Barret on drums. Baker on bass and mike on guitar. They then needed a singer and Mike knew tgat layne was struggling with addiction trying to get clean so he invited him to jam with them as a alternative to try and help Layne get clean. He WAS CLEAN DURING MAD SEASON. DO YOUR RESEARCH. IGNORANCE OMG

""Layne was not healthy," Eliason has been quoted as saying. "Heavy, heavy drug use ... the problem was getting him there. We were in cahoots with his roommate, who'd help get Layne off the couch and point him in our direction.
"Layne would show up and he'd go back to the bathroom and be doing dope back there and you'd wait for hours before he was ready to come back out. He was pretty open about it. I asked him, 'Why? Why are you doing this to yourself?' He said, 'I'm either going to drink or I'm going to do dope, and drinking is harder on me.'"

Watched the 91 AMA on YT the other day & noticed a comment saying how versatile everything was, black & white artists & music intertwining with one another seem to blow the minds of younger kids today!!! Makes me so sad, kids today are surprised when people sound good live, sing songs with meaning & actually play real instruments!!! There's a very real reason why Layne, Kurt, Chris & many others are missed so much.... They take a piece of our youth, innocence & future could of beens when they go!!!!
