Thanks for the video. I didn't know the front bowtie could be removed from the front. I've seen a lot of videos removing them by the back which includes taking off the cowl, followed by removing the four clips and then prying the front grille just enough to squeeze your hand down through and push the bowtie clips out from the back.

Great Video….. Only thing is do different is lightly scuff the gold w some sandpaper, then prime it… But you did a great job and it looks awesome. I’m gonna do mine.. thanks for the idea and video

I vinyl wrap mine but I'am going to paint it cuz I dont really dig the wrap and if I have to buy the black one I'll still need to remove the rear one and you method is easy
What about painting the black in the grill? Cause a super dark bow tie and a faded black grill don't look well together

My 2019 silverado bow tie has an up arrow for the front like you are doing. But how did you paint your rear bowtie?
How well is the paint holding up? Does the paint come off any?
You can easily remove the gold part from the chrome surround and reattach it. I had an old bowtie from my '17 Colorado that I messed with. 4 blobs on the back drilled out and the yellow insert comes right out.

Applying heat and SLOWLY pulling on the insert will do the job, WITHOUT any drilling!!

Hey Hector, can you do that same thing to the steering wheel bow tie or is that risky for the airbag system? What about the wheel cap bow ties? Can you do a video on those?

I know this is while late but I recently (as in like 3 days ago I painted my bow tie on the airbag with a dupli color gm black paint paid 6 or 10 for the pen/brush/ clear kit and used the pen part for the edges or the emblem and the brush for the main part and let it dry then put the clear over it just if you do that(if you haven’t done this already) do be careful with the clear coat part, try not to brush a lot, I had a slight issue where the more I brushed(it wasn’t going onto the paint) and part of the gold came back when it fades because it inevitably will I’ll fix my mistake

There is a LOT easier way, and NO masking required. Those gold inserts are glued in, heating them up and VERY CAREFULLY pry them out. Much easier to paint! Reversing the procedure will require heating them again to make the putty sticky. On today's vehicles, ANY emblem can be removed, WITHOUT damaging the finish, by using heat and SLOWLY pulling the emblem off. Worked like a charm on my '20 Blazer!

Do you know if brush on paint does well? I want to use some of that Black 3.0 stuff and I think it'll look cool , but I think it'll look less even coated.

I covered the gold on my Camaro with carbon fiber vinyl and gloss black on our Silverado. Probably take the wrap off and paint the ones on the Silverado.

The rear emblem is attached with adhesive. I’d do that one on the vehicle 👍🏼

It air dries INSTANTLY!!!!!! Just DON'T BREATHE the vapor! Stay safe!!!!!!

YES! It worked on a 2001 Cavalier, will work on a 2014 Malibu. Don't know about Fords or Mopars.

Neysha Nothing is permanent, you may have to repaint in about 10 years. Just like car paint, it’s all on how well you take care of it
Yeah I was wondering about that.. probably wouldn't hurt to give the surface to be painted a light sanding!? But don't take my word for it anyone feel free to give advice on this before I go to painting

MJ P any kind of paint works, caliper paint is all I had but it works well 👍🏼
You need AT LEAST 2000 degree paint, that Summer Sun will "burn" regular paint right off..........LOL!

Joseph Bostic No, I think that will mess with the texture. Clean it was some Trisodium Phosphate if you’re worried about the paint bonding 🤙🏼

Matco Fools the emblems on the back are usually on there with adhesive, it's best to do it on the truck. Good question 👊🏼

It would be nice if one could do a "DELETE" when ordering a vehicle. Who needs a CHEVY logo to tell it's a CHEVROLET? The vehicles would look a LOT better (cleaner) without the badges or logos! IMHO

Full disclosure on this one…2015 Silverado all chrome grille…it absolutely snaps the clips lol…if you do this some, possibly all can/will break…maybe weather dependent or some are luckier than others but I broke all but one. However with that said, if your swapping from gold to

just fyi... you dont have to remove the entire emblem..... with a hair dryer and a credit card/small screw driver, the gold comes off the chrome bowtie outline... it slowly peels up.... heat it up a bit and start on one end and peel it up and slowly peel it the rest of the way.. only held onto the chrome border with some 1/2" 3m tape. just replace the 3m adhesive when your bowtie is dry to stick it back on in place...
Why would you do all that when you can pop it out in five seconds.. painters tape is cheaper than 3m double sided, and it's easier and faster this way
