    Did I miss the 0-60 results? The real hot rod of the bunch is the 1500 RST w/ 6.2/10-speed and max towing package. 0-60 might be the same (or worse) because of wheel spin, but that midrange punch is intoxicating.

    Great video comparison. The 6.2L costs an extra $1200/year in fuel or an extra $100/month. That 6.2L is a beast but the 5.3L is the smarter buy.

    22 Refresh LTZ for me, and I LOVE it. MPG is actually pretty good even with paddle boards on the roof and going >80 for hours...city MPG hurts. I religiously do the supreme gas, but not sure it is really needed...The ONLY complaint I have is the huge turn radius...it takes some getting used to. Adaptive crruise and all around cameras are pretty awesome. Fun video, looking forward to your channel.

    JB,
    I have a '21 Chevy RST 6.2L I get low to high 20's for mpg. Coming from a '18 5.3L there is absolutely no comparison. When it comes to mpg. All of my milage is done on a calculator although thr computer in the truck is very close as well. I just had a 108.4 trip cruise set @70mph using 91 i filled up 3.860 gallons.

      The 6.6L would be perfect in the ZR2 and would probably be more cost effective to slot against the raptor and TRX

  • @matthewanderson9912
    @matthewanderson9912 2 года назад +3

    Nice video.
    The 6.2 is on another level for speed as compared to the 5.3. The fuel mileage can be similar. I think with these two particular trucks part of the difference was how they were optioned. The 5.3 was a non Z71 so it had a single speed transfer case and also it had 18” wheels which are a pretty good amount smaller tires than the 6.2. All 6.2s have the two speed transfer case and this particular one had 20s.
    The transmissions are interesting because I didn’t realize this but the 1500 10 speed is the 10L80, not the 10L90. The 8 speed is the 8L90 which is a higher power rated transmission than the 10L80. So that’s probably got something to do with the difference in shifting. I know on the Facebook groups the 8 speed gets trashed for how it shifts but the one I had seemed fine.

    • @JB_WhoWork
      @JB_WhoWork  2 года назад +1

      Good info! I believe the 6.2L had 22” wheels which I should have mentioned as a factor. They had a LTZ 5.3L but it sold before I could do the review. I think if I skipped the acceleration test, the MPG would have been closer 👍🏾

Go figure.The only thing I did get was the performance package. It is a carbonpro so about 150 or so lbs lighter. 1500 rpms at real highway speed is why these trucks get 300,000 miles are only just begin to depreciate. They last forever! And the low cost of servicing them makes them all that much more of a great buy. It's a shame manufacturer's have caught onto this and double their prices in the last decade.
