All I can say about strobe is from those that have used it a lot. Their conclusion on those of the receiving end was is that strobe made it hard to detect if the person holding the light was moving. With just the regular light they could detect movement but with the strobe it was harder to catch their movement. This was from a gun night training academy. So if a person found it important to hide their movement more, then the strobe makes a difference. As for me, I'll use the strobe in such circumstances. Oh, I should add, my Dad never told me to use a flashlight to look for things in a room with lights on but I do VERY often with my trusty Baton 3 (that is on me all the time), It will bring out details and colors to help you pinpoint things better. And if I drop something on the floor and can't find it, I put the flashlight horizontal on the floor and rotate it. You will see everything on that floor including how dirty it really is. Your house will be cleaner doing this.
You've done it sir. This is indeed the best flashlight video ever created. It had loss, relationships, excitement, triumph, wisdom and mocking of idiots. And cheap beer. A lot of cheap beer.

20 plus minutes of drinking, pleasurable touching of knife grips and some pretty great advice on being a better son... This is the greatest fistlight video of all time! Fantastic video!
I hope people listen to you regarding flashlights for self defense. I use them frequently, and live in one of the most violent areas of California. Most impressively, they function to prevent problems. And are very helpful, for emergencies other than violence, as well as automobile problems, even during the day. For which Olight Warrior 2 mini is excellent for. The Javelot is absolutely amazing for search at night with fog present.

The Baton 3 is absolutely a great gift. I gave one to my mother (with the tactidcal charging flask) and it is still to date her favorite thing I've ever given her. Uses it daily. Well, nightly.
The most relatable thing in the entire video. Losing the light you just had in hand. Looking for it for a while with no luck.. wife comes in and finds it in sub 1 minute 😂😂😂😂😂
wHaT aBoUt YoUr MiNd? Serious question for you though regarding weapon mounted lights: Flood or Spot? I know you normally are more into spot style stuff, but I feel like having a flood type light on a weapon makes it easier to illuminate something without pointing your weapon at it, since the light throws in a wider area. I know you said that you can't think of a scenario where you need to illuminate someone and not point a weapon at them, but still, being able to would be a benefit I think.
Having flashlight with back switch that is quick touch enabled and has a good amount of lumen and Candela works wonders together with situation and environment awareness. Warding off unwanted contact with a flashlight lit in the face of the opposer is like using garlic on vampires in most of the times especially if your awareness gave good distance. I shit you not that aggressively babbling ppl often immediately shut up and turn 180° going away from you. Even most agitated dogs goes away or calms down when lit on.
The Obulb MCs (specifically the new ones with the *s* on them), have a motion sensor that turns the light on when it is plugged in. The Obuddy is just a cute way for that function to work. Charger goes in the backpack, and when you walk by him, the light pops on for a bit.
I've found the strobe works very well on animals. A bright light just stops them for a sec or even makes them curious...but a strobe sends them running.
The truth is.. it doesn't have to completely blind them for couple seconds like it does during the night. Even 1000 lumen flashlight in broad daylight provides enough distraction to give you at least that "one free shot" which is always way better than nothing and can be a difference between life and death. I've been testing that and it's quite difficult to look at the flashlight and aim at somebody even something basic like 1000 lumens and bright adjusted eyes you have to look down or away. Obviously you were able to find him and hit him because he was just standing there.. he could jump to the side give you a front kick and run for his life.. still better than standing there with empty hands. It is a no-brainer EDC even if you have any other weapons. (in UK you can't have anything so flashlight + some skills can make all the difference)

Internal batteries can only recharge so many times before they are no good any more. So i went with the streamlight protec hlx. Its awesome. But this year they just released the protec 2.0. its a new battery system but same micro USB charging. It has a removable and replaceable battery. Hasn't failed a single time.

you know what I've always wondered... why do small lights normally mean small lumens? They seem to focus on battery life, big output usually means a big honking battery compartment. But for a self-defense light I don't necessarily need it to last 25 hours at full output-- 15 minutes would be just fine! the actual LEDs are usually much smaller than the battery compartment, you could use a stack of coin cells that would last 15-30 minutes and have a lot more output when you need it in something that's still pocket sized.

I also carry knives and a pistol for same reasoning . Its a matter of distance and escalation. Verbal deescalation first if posible , Flashlight deescalation at distance at night , then close in if a sudden thing my knife is coming out if person is not armed with a gun .
My impression has always been that the strobe is not as good as a steady beam because these smaller tactical flashlight beams are very tight, so in a dynamic situation you only really nail the retina with the brightest center cone of the steady beam intermittently which causes a kind of random flashing pattern for the recievers brain to deal with anyway. The strobe is a bit more hit and miss as only some flashes will happen to line up at the right time when beam aim is optimal, so the actual effective flash interval is less than the strobe pattern itself, allowing too many unhindered perception windows for bad man/lady. Also steady beam is simple. Keep it simple. Same beam used to disorientate other is same beam you can use to orientate self.
I love watching mikes disappointment towards stupid people, he is to old to get mad at the people, he just gets sad at how dumb people are and I love watching it.

I also carry knives and a pistol for same reasoning . Its a matter of distance and escalation. Verbal deescalation first if posible , Flashlight deescalation at distance at night , then close in if a sudden thing my knife is coming out if person is not armed with a gun .
I got my butt kicked by a Flashlight 🤣😆🤣 I bet is the most embarrassing admission by a criminal to the other inmates 🤣😆😂🤣👍
As if it wasn't bad enough it was a 5'5" 140 lb nerd.
Bud Light.
Coors Light.
Keystone Light.
Bud Light Lime.
Miller Lite.
Amstel Light.
And flesh light...
The ring on that light is designed to be used with a pistol as well as for striking.
Light is the very first and simplest line of defense

At the end, this dude was as lit as his flashlights! LOL
What are your thoughts on the Thyrm Switchback?
You said I know that their bright oh godddd on the exact moment I flashed myself with my warrior X😂😂
The new flesh light I got has been working wonders!! Oh wrong video
Lmao 🤣 can’t with this video. Icy Mike is extra icy! Love it! Dare I say, cold as ice… cold blooded 😂
You've sold me on flashlights in the course of running your channel.
Great dad advice.
I thought those were energy drinks at first. I was worried your heart was gonna explode mid video.
I love watching mikes disappointment towards stupid people, he is to old to get mad at the people, he just gets sad at how dumb people are and I love watching it.
Yeah I used to take joy in people being dumb... as I become older and kinder I just get frustrated.
