I think you’re right Mike…. I used to spar with a similar sort of dude (I knew him from when I was 3 yo). Not sure what happened in his house when we were young but when he smelled blood, his level of intensity increased, no matter what/when/were. I am pretty sure he justified it in much the same way as Strickland. My view is that he was always trying to prove himself and he thought this was a way he’d gain power. That guy ended up in prison for manslaughter. Personally I think real strength is your ability to support other people with your strength and power. Re, knocking someone out cold- That’s a real hard thing to do if it’s one on one, they have their hands up (and know even a little about defence) and are moving (unless there is a massive weight/power difference…. And you can’t run away). If they are trying to knock you out then that’s slightly different.
Mayweather showed more class than Sean when sparring influencers. I never thought I would ever say that Mayweather showed class but here we are. Sean is a bully. We all have our own issues though.
I don’t really know anything about Strickland beyond his recent comments to the media, but if he is a bully, it’s just a bigger bully beating up a weaker bully. No pity.
Mayweather had a prior agreement with Logan and was literally paid. Logan didn't just walk into Mayweather's place of training and axt like he's on the level where a spar shoukd even happen.

When some clown comes to spar you and think they’re nearly as good as you, you better show ‘em that they aren’t or they WILL go away and say you’re ‘not that tough’. That’s the way it is. Sean had to stop that from happening.
It’s not the first time this happens to Sneako. He got the same treatment from Bradley Martin. I think there’s probably the element of the cameras being on too.
I’ve heard Sean say in interviews the fight time he went to a gym he got the sh*t beat out of him and it was the best day of his life. This is what he was doing
I love this because you address so much more than the fight. These are concepts that we all should be considering as a society and how we function and progress.

Having heard bits about Sean's past and his outlook on these, I've assumed you'd be on point. But how on point you are with all of this scares me. It's sad to see that he seems to be passing on his trauma instead of working through it, mistaking abuse for "manning someone up" and being a bully with being a father figure.
This is like doing the first 3 weeks of Army basic training without the rest of the experience. If you do the Spartan tough love, be sure to do the rebuild at the end.
I'm a little confused as to how to reconcile the fact that you said the level of intensity was fine and normal, yet also said that he was definitely trying to knock Sneako out.
Maybe it's because he didn't succeed in knocking him out. So it ended up being a fine level of intensity even if he was trying to knock him out. If he did knock him out then it wouldn't be fine.
@@arcrides6841 That doesn't make sense to me. You don't have to get knocked out to get brain damage, and intent does matter. Sneako was fortunate. and perhaps got a little lucky he didn't take a more damaging shot.
@@sonofjay817 I agree but perhaps that was his line of thinking when making the video. It's the only thing that I can think of to explain the contradiction.
His argument was that sparring hard is fine, but Sneako didn't know what he was in for. He thought he wanted this to feel tough but it was actually more than what he wanted or expected it to be. It's fine to go this hard if you know what you consent to.
A smart person sees the red flag “Sean Strickland will try to knock you out”… not a throw away line even though it sounds like it, you see that as a RED FLAG. Sneako looking to get content instead got a reality check… which I suppose is a good thing as this video proves he’s all talk.
i think he means that in the way the phrase is being used. some kid being a drunken idiot running their mouth at the mcdonald’s at 3am ”has it coming”, but you dont want to send him to the hospital just because of that.
Definitely something to watch out for in the gym. A lot of us are there because something might not be wired just right. Lots of unusual and unhealthy dynamics are there for the taking if folks aren't careful.
I'm not a fighter but to Sean's defense as for why he couldn't knock Sneako out, they were using bigger gloves than you would in UFC weren't they? I'm sure that must affect how much damage you're taking or else there wouldn't be a reason to use bigger gloves in sparring or whatever.
lmao sean weighs at least 50 lbs more than sneako, 1 pound gloves arent gonna do much to mitigate damage in that situation, also plenty of people get dropped in sparring, it just further proves that sean really has pillow hands
Sean also just doesn't really knock dudes out period. He can hit hard and even drop dudes, but there's definitely a reason why he fights so defensively against pros.
@@terrycruise-zd5twThey still mitigate damage somehow even if only a little, also Sneako managed to block a lot of the punches so I don't really see your point that Sean is weak just because Sneako survived 10 seconds of Sean going hard. That's not really a fair critique imo, we all know that someone 50 lbs heavier who's a pro fighter could knock down Sneako if he really tried and didn't get pulled off after a short amount of time. Sneako was seconds away from falling if Forrest hadn't pulled him off imo
I think you’re spot on with everything you said and I had some of the same thoughts as you when I first seen them spar… Specifically why Sean went so hard on sneako. Good video
What about Mikey? What did Sneako say to about him? IMO Sneako was cyber bullying and back out when dude called him to fight MMA Think there's a couple more fighters he's mouthed about and I feel like Sneako finally got his issue.

Some people may disagree, say it doesn't help and it's just abuse. But other people learn from that. Some people are wired that way some are not.
2:41 my first thought was not “that’s what he gets” because I don’t think Sean was trying to knock him out or go anything above sparring. It was more “well yeah….I didn’t expect any different”
Shooot… he’s called it like a book! had training partners like that, we didn’t agree on sweeps before sparring, sweeped me a couple times during the match, felt annoyed… and then try to be nice to him…felt like Stockholm syndrome…thanks for clearing that up Mike

If you think about the bruises Sean left on Nina's legs after he was teaching her some stuff, you can safely say that he was being "kind" to Sneako- that's just who he is, he was showing Sneako his world, unfortunately for Sneako.
“They told him it was gonna happen” but also when Sean invited him out he said he was willing to do a light spar with Sneako. So Sneako had already talked to Sean about sparring before those guys told him not to. So he kinda trusted Sean over the other guys.
That was a light spar. Sean never switched levels, and was clearly only putting minimal effort into those shots. If he'd swung with as little as 25% effort, sneako would've been on the ground from on or two hits.
I’ve seen this shit happen over and over again at various gyms for various reasons. My advice has always been to understand that you are dealing with guys that fight for a living. They don’t think like everyone else, you have to know what you’re dealing with sometimes for sure
Sneako was pestering him...... Eventually a dog is going to stop growling and bite when it wants to be left alone.... Sean has made his feelings on influencers and sneako did pester him, so it's sort of a Darwin Award, annoy a man of violence and be surprised when he becomes violent. I don't think sneako will pester him any more, that was a clear "this is your warning spar seasion, after this go away" and yeah you could see sneako was regretting pestering him at for a podcast interview.....
The first time i got into a ring i had the crap knocked out of me. Later on it was told to me that they wanted to see if i could take it, get back up and keep fighting. Old school. Initiation into the blood club.
I wonder if there's a part of Sean that feels the same way - remorse and wanting to be cool afterwards. But then actively trying not to be an a-hole further.
As usual, Mike has a great point, however this time its wrong by just a little bit: Sneako agreeing to this, "knowing" in the abstract what he was getting into, being hurt and humiliated at the end, and still wanting Sean's respect (which he earned, to an extent, according to Sean himself) is a story with a good ending. He now can learn a lesson very few people ever get to learn, which is what the first-person experience of violence is like. The gap that was bridged here is the gap between knowing abstractly and knowing experientially. That is valuable. If everyone could know this as deep in their bones as sneako now might, they would be less haphazard about choosing to employ violence in other situations. People who know how horrific it really is can of course become psychos like Sean, but also they are the only ones that have any chance of being wise about it.
Thank you for this breakdown. Absolutely true and great assessment, honestly it’s sad to see how it played out. I guess it’s the true nature of trying to go viral and what harm that can do to a person. There’s better ways
There is a little extra context I'm not sure Strickland was even aware of. Sneako was livestreaming and made fun of Mikey Musumeci's voice and appearance and he basically shit on jiu jitsu said some very rude things about Mikey. Mikey called him out for being a bully in a IG video but got a lil heated and challenged him to an MMA fight since he heard Sneako claimed to box. Sneako immediately backed down and turned it around on Mikey making him seem out of line for challenging him to a fight. Idk, it doesn't mean he deserves to get beat up, but it doesn't feel as bad.
I actually really feel bad for Sneako. He was about to bust down crying after that ass whooping. At least he didn't get knocked out. Hopefully he didn't get any brain damage.
This is just sad for the sport. Because at the end this is the kind of videos that make people think mixed martial artist are bunch of violent psychos.
WHAT A MINUTE! "i earn the podcast now?"..."we'll see in a minute..." holy shit, sneako went up another peg... took it like a man, and KNEW DAMN WELL WHAT WAS COMING
"If you're a nerdy influencer you don't get to spar a pro!" Its all a matter of how emotionally secure the fighter is. Guys like Steve Thompson feel unthreatened, guys like Sean have to protect their ego. Sadly, many great fighters are emotional toddlers who become physically dominant as a coping mechanism. Nerds invading their space gets under their skin on a deep level. They have to cleanse it for peace of mind.
Considering that Sneako always tries to bully or threaten people, this reality check was needed and I kinda like that it finally happened. Sean could have ended him with a single liver shot, it was open the entire time, he just chose to not do that because it would be too „easy“.
There's an inherent wisdom that comes through adversity. That kid went in full of himself bc of his influencer platform and got taught a lesson in real life. Influencers are a strange group. They have garnered far too much unearned self confidence and fame with nothing behind it. He took a beating, good for him.
I really appreciate your breakdown and agree. I had never heard of Sneako before this. Now lots of people know his name. He traded some brain cells for eyeballs. Only one person can tell us if it was worth it or not. I did MMA for twelve years after a decade of TMAs and I've never taken a beating like this because I respected the process. Don't get me wrong, I've been dominated before but I never had somebody leaping in with right hand after right hand as I was turning away from the strikes. And I've trained with some sketchy, damaged men. Respect the process and don't jump to the top of the ladder unless you want to fall hard.
Sean didn’t just change the pace out of nowhere. He let Sneako work, with basically zero resistance, for 4 minutes. And THE WHOLE TIME he kept saying “just you wait. It’s about to be a bad day for you. Here in a couple minutes/here in a minute/ here soon. You ready?” I mean that’s definitely not catching someone off guard. He gave him like 20 verbal warnings to see if he really wanted to continue
A pro told me he never spars amateur bc what the amateur wants is to connect a hand, knock down him and that's it. It doesn't matter if the pro go serious and give the amateur a beating afterwards. The amateur wants to tell people he knock down a pro once. In the case of youtubers it's similar but with money and cloud involved.
Icy Mike and his journey through fatherhood and his own issues, while still attempting to provide positive masculinity, may just be what the internet needs. There’s nuance to this shit, and Mike’s honesty is refreshing.
Awesome video on so many levels. I've been in Sean's position but more often I've been in Sneako's position. I'm still trying to get out of that wanting to be liked by the abuser mentality. Very hard.
What Sneako has to do is learn MMA and come back for a rematch. I am a Nigerian and at times like this my ancestors teach us to repay bloody nose for bloody nose. I can see that Sneako is not afraid of getting hurt, that solves a big problem with fighting and puts him ahead of the class. if he betters his fighting skills he can damage monsieur Strickland. War is war gentlemen. We all know he really wants to hurt Sean back. I say he prepares himself and when he is ready he should ask for a rematch.
Sean'ss persona is based on ''ím an 'asshole'''. Sean warned him multiple times that things are about to get bad. Sneako had plenty of oppurtunity to walk out before the beating.
I don't have any dog in the fight for either man but Sneeko said he wanted to spar knowing at least to some degree it wasn't going to be easy and Sean Strickland let him throw punches for 4 minutes the whole time telling him the last minute is going to be the worst of your life sounds fair to me

For example Sneako converted to Islam just because he was gaslighted into it, and now he thinks he's better than everyone else, and uses his religion as a shield kind of like how Steven Segal is a "Buddhist" to present himself as some spiritual sage.
Sneako knew fully well Sean was gonna mess him up, but for him the attention was worth it. Now he's suffered a huge self esteem blow. He thought Sean was gonna give him the old "you agreed to fight me, you have my respect" but he doesn't know Sean has his own way of dealing with these things. People are gonna pat him on the back for this and he's fine with it.
Yep. I thought Sean was being an asshole, but Sneako is so toxic that it was kind of cathartic to see him get punched in the face by a champion of his own ideology. I wish they'd both chill t f out
@JesterJahima Sean's clearly doing some soul searching, but has his flaws. Sneako thinks he's doing soul searching and is mostly developing more flaws. They're both attention driven, and need to calm down, you're absolutely right.
Here we go, these the kinda replies I was hoping for. I used to watch Sneako, I used to think he was cocky, but I enjoyed him years ago before or during COVID.
But goddamn, since then? Been waiting for this kinda moment. Ahhh, man, it’s like being hungry for so long and you finally get to eat! Just completely satisfied.
@@QuantumMecha I was never a Sneako fan so I can't really explain why people USED to like him. I do know those that really hate him the most are his old fans, as opposed to those of us like who were only recently exposed. So I'm guessing as he got popular he started to change.
@@ProtomanButCallMeBlues Yuuuup, you’re on the mark my man. It seems to be the weird unfortunate fate of people getting popular. but why would Forrest walk away if he thought the sparring was going fine
if Forrest knew Sean dislikes influencers, then he should've stayed
This analysis went deeper than most sermons, well done & wisely spoken sir🍻
@3:00 It's because we know who Sneako is and what he's about. I feel like a lot of the MMA youtubers who have covered this (to your point) DON"T know who Sneako is and the wild $hit he says and does. Dude tried to clown Mikey Musumeci, which is why some people were glad to see him get roughed up. Nothing wrong with getting served a bit of humble pie. It's good for ya. Anyways I hope he learns from this and grows as a person. I'm sure a lot of MMA practitioners can attest that when you get your ass handed to you in the gym, it can lead to some great self-reflection.
I came to the comments to say exactly this. He’s a bad person, teaching kids how to be bad people en masse, and bullying people with his platform. We’re happy to see him get his due. I only wish it was Mikey Musumeci that he agreed to tangle with after what he said about Mikey’s personality.

Read 10% of the comment and guessed he was in prison. Yupp
Phenomenal breakdown of the situation
Mayweather showed more class than Sean when sparring influencers. I never thought I would ever say that Mayweather showed class but here we are. Sean is a bully. We all have our own issues though.
I don’t really know anything about Strickland beyond his recent comments to the media, but if he is a bully, it’s just a bigger bully beating up a weaker bully. No pity.
Mayweather had a prior agreement with Logan and was literally paid.
Logan didn't just walk into Mayweather's place of training and axt like he's on the level where a spar shoukd even happen.
@@rocketpigrecords3719 i was not referring to the Logan Paul fight. Mayweather recently sparred an influencer.
@@thedust850 did that influencer just insist on sparring a grumpy Floyd, after Floyd got robbed of his title, after Roy Jones told him it's a stupid idea, and Floyd just called him a nobody to his face?
Maybe you're autistic & can't read a room, but Sneako insisted.
Know why? We're all talking about that goofy looking jackass now. Sneako got exactly what he wanted.
Cry harder for him, poor guy 😭
When some clown comes to spar you and think they’re nearly as good as you, you better show ‘em that they aren’t or they WILL go away and say you’re ‘not that tough’. That’s the way it is. Sean had to stop that from happening.
Pretty solid take on the whole situation, definitely makes me pity Strickland’s future kids though.
It’s not the first time this happens to Sneako. He got the same treatment from Bradley Martin. I think there’s probably the element of the cameras being on too.

Really good video, felt like it came from a real place Mike
I’ve heard Sean say in interviews the fight time he went to a gym he got the sh*t beat out of him and it was the best day of his life. This is what he was doing
I love this because you address so much more than the fight. These are concepts that we all should be considering as a society and how we function and progress.
Fuck man... that statement about being hurt and nothing you can do about it. That's some powerful shit right there, Mike.

Having heard bits about Sean's past and his outlook on these, I've assumed you'd be on point. But how on point you are with all of this scares me. It's sad to see that he seems to be passing on his trauma instead of working through it, mistaking abuse for "manning someone up" and being a bully with being a father figure.
That was quite honestly a very sophisticated breakdown of the dynamics of abuse.

This was a very Real take on the matter. 👊👊✊✊👏👏👏 My main question after watching the whole encounter is, "Why was he even in there with a Pro?"

@@PaladinJackal what do you mean by this? what have you done in your life to think this way?

Definitely something to watch out for in the gym. A lot of us are there because something might not be wired just right. Lots of unusual and unhealthy dynamics are there for the taking if folks aren't careful.
Sean saind in a video that he respects sneako for standing till the end like a real man, I understand that.
This was beautifully said. Thank you ❤
This is by far the best analysis.
Good video
This is a good take on things. Thank you.
What about Mikey? What did Sneako say to about him? IMO Sneako was cyber bullying and back out when dude called him to fight MMA
Think there's a couple more fighters he's mouthed about and I feel like Sneako finally got his issue.
In my country we have a said: "a well timed slap can wake you up" meaning make you wise, make you a grown up. To others it could mean make you grow an spine or make you a man.
Some people may disagree, say it doesn't help and it's just abuse. But other people learn from that. Some people are wired that way some are not.
We dont enjoy people being hurt its the lesson they need to learn..words like audacity, come to mind.
I was waitin on Icy to give some feedback on this because i literally went through this when i first started boxing but i adapted and learned the ins and outs good etiquette sparring
I really disagree that Sean was trying as hard as possible to knock him out, he wanted Sneako to quit, not go to sleep
If you think about the bruises Sean left on Nina's legs after he was teaching her some stuff, you can safely say that he was being "kind" to Sneako- that's just who he is, he was showing Sneako his world, unfortunately for Sneako.
I gotta say, at 7:44, that transition to Forrest Griffin from your Gym. Excellent.
Thanks I felt like that one hit!

They don’t think like everyone else, you have to know what you’re dealing with sometimes for sure
the funniest part of this is that Strickland still couldn't get a finish.
He seldom ever does. He's a defensive expert and all that, but there's a reason he chases safe decision victories.
This was awesome, best take I've seen on this, and a really mature solution with wisdom.
Great talk!
That very last part is really F'd up because it is the mentality of so many that actually get abused. They still want the love and approval.
That was an exceptional breakdown. 👏🏾 👍🏾
That is the beat commentary/ breakdown on this I have seen. Well said
Noone seems to be talking about sneako threatening another streamer on a live stream
Thank you for this breakdown. Absolutely true and great assessment, honestly it’s sad to see how it played out. I guess it’s the true nature of trying to go viral and what harm that can do to a person. There’s better ways
Also daddy issues (abuse in general), that kind of trauma affects people in all sorts of ways
Genius analysis! Thanks Mike! I enjoyed every second! ❤
First time watching and I absolutely respect and agree with your take on this.
Nailed it, Mike.
I agree with you in your analysis. That's precisely what I thought.
"If you're a nerdy influencer you don't get to spar a pro!"
Its all a matter of how emotionally secure the fighter is.
I keep unliking because I keep smashing the like button with every great point you make! Great video, thanks!
You ready?”
I mean that’s definitely not catching someone off guard.
To be clear, I disagree with a lot of his takes on a lot of different things. But that’s ok. There’s nuance to this shit.
