  • Ken Tanaka of Wish4Fish is back on the water! This time fly fishing Utah on the Green River.
    I am back in Utah and of course I had to meet up with Doug Roberts of Old Moe Guide Service for fly fishing the Green River. This is the 3rd time fishing with Doug and as you can see we had a blast as usual! As you can also see we crushed it and caught plenty of fish. This time we didn't have crazy hoppers flying around or a prolific cicada hatch so we had to adapt to the circumstances.

    8:09. Least favorite part of doing a float trip. They are loads of fun, but sometimes the fish outsmart/manuever ya in the boat. Luckily, the numbers and fish you couldn't otherwise get to make up for it. Nice video Ken, thanks for sharing!

      Yeah, no kidding! I was just about to say "I'm getting out to net this fish!" Especially when he went downstream of me. Unfortunately made a bad choice of trying to stay in the boat.

      Awesome! In a boat is a bit different. I use the current as well as side pressure as well on a boat but you also have to factor in trying to lead the fish to the net as well.
      Honestly the burger was just OK. Next time I will opt for a regular burger instead. I mean it's no Pastrami Burger from Frostop! 😉

      @@bryanowen2881 - Spinner Fall SUCKS! I had one of their douche guides float right through my hole I was fishing while I was wading. Not only did he float through my hole but he allowed clients to cast right through it. Any company that has their guides do that are worthless.

    At about 8:20-8:22 in the video what were you doing to the line right before you set the hook? Were you just letting a bit of line out or were you twitching it?

    • @Wish4Fish
      @Wish4Fish  4 года назад +1

      Great eye fly man! I was actually wondering if people would catch that and if someone would ask about it!
      I was letting out line. You can see from the 8:25 mark that there was a fast run that I was fishing. That part happened to be fast than the boat so I had to let out line to keep a drag free drift.

    • @KaptenInsano
      @KaptenInsano 4 года назад +1

      Thank you for info, I'm a major novice when it comes to dry fly fishing at any kind of distance, so I always figure it's better to ask and learn all I can when I can.

    • @Wish4Fish
      @Wish4Fish  4 года назад +1

      Of course! That's the best way to learn is through others and to ask questions! So feeding line, stack mending and reach casts are all very useful on the water. Manipulating the line to your advantage can be key! Please feel free to hit me up anytime if you have any questions.

    I have the airflo superflo river and stream and it always has memory kinks in it and is not as fluid as rio golds or the previous series of airflo. Am I doing something wrong with the fly line?

    • @Wish4Fish
      @Wish4Fish  3 года назад

      So it’s very possible that you twisted the line. This can happen when putting it on the reel if not done correctly. Did you line it off the spool?
      It can also happen if you stepped on the line or tried to brush it to the side.
      Line memory happens to all the lines. Although strange that you said I
      that Airflo is giving you trouble because it usually gives me the least about of trouble.

    • @jayk.2276
      @jayk.2276 3 года назад +1

      @@Wish4Fish okay, is there a way to untwist it haha. I guess i wouldn't say trouble since you are correct, it is the least amount of problems I've had with a fly line. I stay away from rio because they crumble apart, which is why I went to airflo. And I did spool it myself haha.

    • @Wish4Fish
      @Wish4Fish  3 года назад

      Getting it spooled is definitely the way to go! Unfortunately not the easiest way. Do you have a spooling device? That does help.
      What I do is let the line go downstream all the way to the backing and give it a couple flicks of the rod tip and real it back up. Hope that helps. It had happened to me before as well. Like you said, the least amount of trouble is with Airflo but perfect is impossible
      😉
