And if nothing else, they're not with a real intended mark when he's wrapping them SO TIGHTLY around the axle. Best part is, with all the stress, he's driving them to the same senility they take advantage of EARLIER...now that is irony. The other way to fight them is education, which this serves, too, because possible marks see what phony morons these guys are and know to NEVER allow them access to their computers, let alone their bank accounts.

I was honestly thinking the same exact thing. When I was in Italy, some scammers approached my family and I while we were eating. They tried the usual stuff they pull on tourists and we retorted in Italian "What made you choose such a sad and malicious way of life?" The scammers were like "wait you're Italian? Please enjoy your meal we're sorry." I'm pretty convinced that half of the motive for these scammers is that they've demonized Americans as a way of absolving themselves of responsibility for their actions. It's much easier to scam someone you think is evil than your neighbor. Wasting their time is one way to make them feel like shit but I think disowning them as a native is the ultimate form of shame

Vulnerable people who are not tech literate enough to smell a rat but must still actually have a decent enough PC and internet and enough competence to get team viewer working and use online banking and the ability to purchase gift cards. My grandparents used to get targeted by people like this but they could barely turn their old PC on. No chance of someone getting team viewer setup over the phone.

Online banking, ESPECIALLY thru pc (most people use phones) is not easy to do for tech-illiterate people. To the point where I'd say if you're educated enough to do online banking, you're educated enough to not get scammed. I really doubt scamming would be a viable way to make money if you only relied on the extremely small demographic of 'old people with mental issues who also happen to be tech-literate enough to do online banking'. Statistically there has to be enough regular people getting scammed too to be worth it.

Vulnerable people who are not tech literate enough to smell a rat but must still actually have a decent enough PC and internet and enough competence to get team viewer working and use online banking and the ability to purchase gift cards.
My grandparents used to get targeted by people like this but they could barely turn their old PC on. No chance of someone getting team viewer setup over the phone.

In other words, she's so dumb and gullible that she's un-scammable. The moment the scammer tells her to get on the PC, she'll be lost and call me for help and I'll know it's a scam.
Online banking, ESPECIALLY thru pc (most people use phones) is not easy to do for tech-illiterate people. To the point where I'd say if you're educated enough to do online banking, you're educated enough to not get scammed.
I really doubt scamming would be a viable way to make money if you only relied on the extremely small demographic of 'old people with mental issues who also happen to be tech-literate enough to do online banking'. Statistically there has to be enough regular people getting scammed too to be worth it.
@@kirishima638 also if even if you get fully scammed, just the act of buying the gift cards is really difficult. It looks easy in the videos, but in real life old people will talk to family members about it or the store will ask questions and someone will call out the scam eventually. Too many weak points in this scam.
