  • I believe you can find vegetable glycerin in health food stores and WalMart. Here is a link for a 4 oz. bottle for under $3 on the Vitacost website - tinyurl.com/yb...
I hope this video was helpful and that everyone is staying safe and sane.

I feel like the one with glycerin was definitely shinier! It turned out beautiful, thanks for the tip!

I had a loose powder eyeshadow that I wanted to press into a largeish pan to use as a highlight. I didn't know about the binder. I just used alcohol. At first it seemed great... 24 hours later it just fell out everywhere. I had gold dust all over the place and it went to waste. A binder is necessary in my limited experience -- even if it doesnt' seem like it right away.

This was just the video I needed! I Have been considering buying the RCMA no colour powder as a replacement for my essence all about matte powder - I wanted to find a way of reducing my packaging waste and I thought repressing the RCMA into my existing essence compact would help reduce my makeup waste. But saw lots on the internet about the difficulty with repressing loose powders - definitely going to get some vegetable glycerin and try this myself! Thanks Tash xx

Translucent loose powders are much thinner and finely milled, so I'm not sure how it would repress. I wish I still had some of my RCMA powder so I could try it for you!

@@TooMuchTash Very true.. translucent powders are definitely hard to work with -the essence all about matte powder has a tendency to break in the pan because it is so fine to begin with.. if all else fails I will just use the RCMA as a loose powder!

I know this is an older comment but RCMA recently launched a pressed version of their No Color Powder; 8.5 grams for $18. I just bought it from Beautylish but haven't received it yet. I've had it in one of the shaker jars for years but only used it once because it's such a mess so I was really happy when this pressed version was announced.

Can you so this same technique with loose setting powders and loose eyeshadows? Also would love to hear a follow up on how the product works after some use, would you do anything different? Would love more videos on your pressing more loose items too!!! ❤️😘❤️

I image so unless it's a super fine, translucent powder. And I'll give more of a follow up in my next Makeup Basket video. I'm wearing the highlighter today and love it. Super metallic and blinding, so it's not everyone's cup of tea haha

I tried to do this a week ago with a colourpop loose highlighter but only with alcohol and after it dried, it crumbled and returned to being a loose highlighter again 😭. I'll try using glycerin next time!
Update: I tried it and it worked! It looks just as good as the loose form!

I just finished your highlighter declutter video and came looking for this because I have loose highlights from Sydney Grace and WnW that I like in terms of color and formula but never use bc they're so messy. Thank you! Btw, you may want to link this video in the description box of your recent cheek products declutter as others may be interested after hearing you mention it, like I was.

I think I'll use hyaluronic acid instead of glycerin as that is what I have on hand. Thanks for the video.

I watched a video by Rachel Stephanie were she pressed products without alcohol. She just pressed them in stages.

I skipped forward to the glycerin method because I am considering using one of my mixing mediums. I’m just curious, do you have to add alcohol to the glycerin or mixing medium? Or did you just do so by choice? I’m clearly clueless. Sorry! Thank you!

    • @TooMuchTash
      @TooMuchTash  6 месяцев назад

Hi! I think adding some alcohol helps it dry. The alcohol eventually goes away and helps it to stay as a powder. Adding just glycerin would probably turn it into a cream highlight, but I'm not 100% sure!

I assume so unless it's a very fine, translucent powder. I feel like it's so fine, the alcohol might change the formula somehow.

      Coco Cannelle you’re welcome! 😊
      Reporting back:
My equipment: I used a dropper from an empty The Ordinary bottle, about 3-4 Tablespoons of 91% alcohol with 20 drops of vegetable glycerine (from the drugstore). Mixed it up in a small glass container using the dropper. A small plastic spatula/scooper (from a face mask). Coty Airspun Extra Coverage Translucent Powder and an empty Elf highlighter compact. Paper towels and the lid to my large Belif moisturizer (fits perfectly in the compact).
      Process:
I did a test like Natasha did to check if the formula would be affected in any way. It actually made the powder more buttery and gave a “soft focus” filter. And the amount of product on my brush is evenly distributed as opposed to dunking my brush in a tub of the loose powder and having to tap off.
I made more and pressed the powder 4 x (to absorb all of the alcohol) with Belif lid and let the final product dry open over night before I used it today.
      Results:
It’s beautiful! 😍 I am now more inclined to use it daily. I’m now on year 2 of trying to finish my Coty Airspun Extra Coverage Powder.
      Thank you Natasha! ❤️
