So good! Thanks again for coming all the way up to Canadia and ripping some laps with The Slip Angle bros and us. You've gotta come up for our track day meet next year, we'll find you some cool stuff to drive.
@@garageworm17 Both are great to turbo. There's a lot of misconceptions regarding it. Both engines have piston oil squirters, a forged iron crankshaft, iron block. Both are great for turbocharging. Both can handle around the exact same amount of torque before blowing up. And both also have 9 to 1 compression pistons from the factory. :) There's literally almost no difference. I guess everyone forgot that Jeremy Clarkson & Richard Hammond never used to wear helmets while driving on track. This was literally the most runoff I’ve ever seen at a track and Craig is a big boy. He can make his own decisions.
*thank youu* lmao. Almost no other cars on track, wasn't driving the car for lap records, and there's so much runoff at every corner you couldn't hit anything if you tried except for the pit wall which as you can probably tell I was being extremely safe on that corner.
TheCarPassionChannel we get it all the time with The Slip Angle videos too. It’s pretty funny how mad people get over something that has literally no effect on them what-so-ever...
3:06 not to be THAT guy... but why didn’t he have the rotating assembly balanced? As much work as been done, that seems pretty standard and would help a great deal. Just a thought.
In my opinion, I get it - because his goal was to make as much power as possible without opening up the bottom end, to keep max reliability. I've never seen any garage built, machine shopped performance engine last the same 250,000 miles a stock one can. As soon as you take it apart it's compromised, unless you have a small Mazda factory in your house
Ah I missed that the bottom end wasn’t opened up at all, i figured it had been since he mentioned machine work being done. That’s the only reason I’d mentioned it, plus I can’t imagine it’s never had the bearings done. 🤷🏽♂️ I’ve been wrong about less important things 😂 thanks for the reply dude!
So... NA build coming soon? I mean, cams, mild headwork and a decent header, could actually be a somewhat cheap build? Ofc the ITB's are expensive. But I would love to see you do a nice NA build.
If you have a closed roof then you do not need a helmet on the slower tracks in Ontario. It's different at the fast tracks ( The old Mosport track for example) .
Only required if you have no roof. Keep in mind this is a pretty slow track. (Unless you are in some 500 hp monster of course, but those guys usually wear helmets)
There are just so many flavors of miatas, you simply cannot have a big enough garage for them all!.. if Quinn would convert to e85 i bet he would be able to squeeze that last out to break the 200 barrier..
Man you have to rent from National. They have much better cars that would definitely be more enjoyable on a track, I mean road. I just rented a Mini Cooper and that go cart was a blast!

Can someone please explain what "shaving a 100th of the head" means 😅 I never under the idea of shaving a cars head to begin with so if someone could kindly explain 🙏🏼
It's when you have the bottom of the head machined down (Quinn actually meant a 10th (0.100")). When you do this it makes the combustion chambers slightly smaller and raises the compression ratio of the engine, so you get more horsepower! If you raise the compression a lot you need to use better fuel (higher octane) in the engine. Btw shaving the head by 0.100" is a LOT haha

I'm not sure why Quinn doesn't tune it on e85 or w/m I bet she'd pull 200whp at that point. Not that it really needs it but just curious why he doesn't do that since 200 was his goal, it still probably has that in it with the 8k rpm.
I think it's mostly because a practical 200 was his goal. He could probably do even slightly more aggressive cams, and definitely more aggressive porting. I'm assuming he doesn't have E85 readily available in his area, but he does have either 93 or 94 which is a stronger fuel than our CA91 for sure.
