What a perfect solution, and the fact the standing height without rider is almost the same, means it still sits nice and stable on the side stand and not "over upright" then needing the stand shortened.. Good to see you back up with videos buddy.. Take care and keep safe.. Del & Pennyxx
Hi, I just this afternoon (4.20.21) installed these lowering springs along with the recommended front forks adjustment . I had time for a quick blast. What a fantastic transformation ! Yes, I have better contact with the pavement at stops, and the overall center of gravity has been lowered. It really feels like a different motorcycle. Thank you for a great product, as well as the clear instructional video.
So I went ahead and installed them myself. I totally forgot I had a nice bike jack. Also I didn't need the vice. It was easy just in my lap. Thanks for all the detailed steps, especially about the gasket rings and the washer on the bottom part. I ended up losing the left washer INSIDE the wheel for a bit. I wrapped double-sided-super-sticky tape to a screwdriver to fish it out. :D Other than that, it was fast and simple, no issues with anything. It's like a totally different bike now.. It's so much easier turning around. It's amazing how much difference that 30mm makes.
Hello, I have a 1200X 2024 Scrambler, So thanks to you I have now lowered the bike with the simple suggestions you have suggested. Thank you very much it has been very helpful . David.....Adelaide......Australia.....
The more I look at the model of Triumph, the more I start falling for it. It seems like a great, fun, all around bike. Thanks for showing how to make more accessible for those shorter of stature.
Ah - I will order these for sure - just need the extra confidence of being more sure footed when road conditions are not flat - well done on another great modification!
Bought the scrambler but knew I was too short (5’6”) these spring landed today and fitted following your video with little issue and I have zero mechanical talent. Much better now I think if I get the triumph low seat I will be flat footed as it’s supposed to lower by 1 inch. PS the mirrors I got from you are very good too👍
Yet another worthwhile present to myself!.....I dropped mine on a steep camber after stalling at low speed....prior to fitting your booster plug....because of my short arse inside leg measurement...This is what I’ve been waiting for....I was contemplating swapping the XE for the XC...But no need to now, cheers for that! This is SO what I need. I've had my XE for a couple weeks, and I've nearly dropped it several times in close quarters slow turns due to the height.. because it sits SO high.. It looks to be a quick half-hour or less swap. I ordered the springs from the US distributor, arriving tomorrow. I love how easy the Triumphs are to work on. I'm fortunate that the XE fits me perfectly but, I haven't seen a bike this easy to fettle since my old SV650 nearly two decades ago 🙂
Craftsmanship and imagination, well done. The only thing better would be if Triumph could provide this as an option on the production line. Either that or . . . and I never thought I’d say this . . . provide a similar automatic lowering feature as Harley-Davidson’s Pan America.
Thanks for the great vid guys, purchased the heavy duty springs from you a few weeks ago but had not had chance to fit, all done today really easy job.
Thank you for this video. I replaced the rear shocks on my Royal Enfield 650 twin with 30mm shorter ones just hours ago and I did find it a bit hard going so I was interested to see how a professional bike fettler would tackle lowering seat height. As always, I was impressed. So far I'm undecided as to whether I will slide the front fork tubes up in their clamps 30mm or so. When it stops raining and my operation scar heals some more I'll go for a trial ride.
Thanks, you’ve just made my day. Been wanting this machine since they released it, but being a shortarse it was just too high. Problem solved, much appreciated.
This is a genius idea. When I sat on the Scrambler it's a little too high for me but also its so stiff it barely moves even though I'm about 100 Kg. I looked at the preload and saw it was at the lowest setting. After that I figured that the bike wasn't going to work for me.
Great work, I want to buy this bike but I'm 5'8" and so little worried about the height. With your work and a good pair of riding boots all should be well.
Great video, thank you. I wonder if you can do the same lowering on the Speed Twin 1200. I like the bike very much but it is a little too high for me. Today I have Kawasaki W800 with the low seat(76Cm/30in) and it fits me well. My inseam is about 29 in. Per S. from Bergen, Norway
Hi George I have the XC showcase model with the driving lights at the lowest clamp can you still raise the forks to lower the front end with those installed
I was sitting on the fence on buying a Triumph Xe. But your discussion about the price of repairs if Dropped has made me decide to pass on this bike. It Looks like I'm Buying a Rice Burner. Best Wishes! M.H.
I drop mine all the time riding off road. The parts are definitely $$$$ to replace, so the scars stay for the most part. What really ticked me off was when I found out the plastic side panel that covers the fuses and relays costs $250 USD to replace - just the molded plastic bit, not including the aluminum accents and hardware. Way rapey. This is not a cheap bike to own, but I love it just the same.
Would love a lowering kit for the re 650s . I have seen people milling costum buttom links for the rear suspension wich are 20mm shorter . What do you think
What's the maximum travel of the shocks? I'm going to set my sag and don't have a way of raising rear wheel and measuring at the same time. Also if you've got the maximum travel of the front forks that would help!
That's an amazing video! If you own any of Royal Enfield's 650cc bikes please do a separate video like this to reduce the seat height. I'm planning to buy a GT 650 in coming days (in India). So triumph tell me the suspension is optimised for rider weights of 70-90kg. I'm a tad over this so can't get my XC pre-load to meet the right parameters, I have mine almost all the way into max pre-load. If I understand correctly I need a harder spring to get into the rider sag zone for me. This is a softer spring, so would make the problem worse? - question, not a statement - I need to gain another inch over my low seat and this looks perfect
That's exactly what I am thinking... I need harder springs to get into the 25-30% of my suspension travel. I have my preload maxed out and I'm at about 40%.
