I agree! As hospitals go, the game's largest hospital would be a small hospital in real life. Most hospitals I've been in were so huge they were like mazes inside! Plus they don't let you go more than 6 floors.
Another great episode! 😁 As someone who works in a laboratory, thank you for thinking of windows! 😝It's crazy how many older labs have no windows! Great build, really looking forward to seeing everything in action once you have finished building.
I used to work in a lab (of sorts) too many years ago, so I'm not completely up to speed about lab design, but I know the basics! Definitely feel like I could have done with more space for this section though...
Plastic Swans you made some awesome points about workstations being separate etc. completely agree with all of your thoughts on lab design! 😃 Yes, hopefully they will allow us to have larger maps in the future 😃
This video finally cleared my understanding of OPD and ER clinics. Until now Ive been doing it very wrong from a realism perspective. This series is really great.
just so you know, I’m pretty sure a recent update changed the bathroom and staff room requirements to make them shareable between departments. Might change your layout again
The space is a real issue for hospitals that utilise campus style arrangements where there are many buildings with various functions such as residences, specialised hospitals e.g Women and Children, community services like mental health and addiction, etc. Although, I guess that might start to blur the line between playing a game and just having a job LOL
Absolutely, particularly mixing various models of care. We're starting to see mega-facilities that integrate primary and acute, community services and social care. It's all very fascinating, and takes a heap of collaboration and healthcare planning to get it right.
@@PlasticSwans For sure, fascinating stuff. I really appreciate your content on this game. You're in a fairly unique position to educate, kind of like when city planners play Skylines/SimCity, or pilots play Flight Simulator, etc
My biggest issue with the game is how little space they give you. Real hospitals can be massive complexes treating hundreds of people a day, with different departments in different buildings if needed. Although, let’s be real. You’re going to run out of processing ability on your pc before you’ll run out of space.
I agree wholeheartedly. My biggest issue with the game is that when you have one or two departments, you run out of beds quickly and have to build big wards. However, once you build all departments, the number of patients in each drops dramatically. I need to check if there's mods that increases number of patients to keep it looking a little more realistic
Hey, I'm loving your videos. I know I'm late haha, but for my as non US/European citizen, this shows me some nice differences and stuff =D. About the 5:40 part when you talk about the road delivering to the lab stuff, I'm kinda bugged. I'd understood the part where the construction ofthe labs would be in the outside wall, but I didn't get your 'mimicking' idea of the windows and so on. Well, thank you again and cheers =D
Hey thanks! I haven't played this game in ages, but I'm guessing you don't get how the labs have windows etc? Here in the UK our labs don't really interact with hospital users, the results are sent directly to your dr but in game people wander into the labs and collect them directly so I wanted to sort of separate them without it looking weird
@@PlasticSwans TYSM for the answer. Sorry for necroin the game hahaha. My question was about the delivery thing that 'you've said. Sorry if I was'nt clear, english is not my native language hahah. Oh and just for curiosity. Here in Brazil in the cities and big cities we do have the eletronic delivery of the info from the lab, directly to the doctor too, but in countryside towns and villages you may find this kinda of "old school" like in the game haha
In some laboratories, like in the Philippines, they have their own reception area where Lab techs (like myself) communicates with walk-in patients. Some patients opt in hard copy results rather than electronic (especially for older generations). I'd say that your build of the laboratory is still realistic!
Thank you! Really interesting to see how some places you still talk with walk-in patients. I don't think we have that here at all now. Everything gets put onto a digital website now that patients can log into and see results
Exactly. Outpatient is for those visiting the hospital for routine tests, Emergency Room etc. but haven't been admitted to the hospital for ongoing treatment. Inpatient would be those admitted to wards.
Saludos.
Thanks for asking, but this was a one-off series that was testing out if 'real' hospital design would work with the game mechanics. We achieved that objectives, so no real need to go back
Hi there! I record gameplay using Streamlabs OBS, then isolate game sound in the editing. The music I have playing through most of the video is from Epidemic Sound though, not Project Hospital.

Absolutely LOVING this series! It's great how you explain everything as you go.
Ah thank you! I'm honestly flattered. The series got way more popular than I ever thought it would
This video finally cleared my understanding of OPD and ER clinics. Until now Ive been doing it very wrong from a realism perspective. This series is really great.
Thanks! I did my best to see how realistic we could get
love this series, can’t wait for more.

Thank you! I'll check that out this weekend

Eager for the episode when you hit play. But i am learning a lot from your expertise as to how actual hospitals function. Great job
I'm so ready to press 'play'! Be a couple episodes yet. I want maximum chaos when I hit the green light!
In future videos, can you please show the layout of each department with the walls down? Loving your videos!
Sure thing

@@PlasticSwans There are some that allow you to get more contracts with insurance providers, which add more patients overall.
I'm curious to see all the patients milling around in the hospital 🙂
I have a feeling it's going to be hilarious

Such an interesting take on this game. I'm really enjoying your series. Also love your accent!!!
Well thank you! It's a 'love it or hate it' thing I think!
You look like a professional of Hospital Architect 😲👏👏👏
Oh thanks! I wish that were true, I'm really passionate about functional architecture for places like hospitals, but not actually an architect!
Fantastic!
You do all this work and then press the play button and see how it doesn't work as you had hoped lol.
Oh for definite, but it was also hilarious so I can live with the pain of putting in all those hours for it to end up a disaster 😆

what does outpatient/inpatient mean?
outpatient = clinic
inpatient = wards?

Hi swan how you Get the sound of the game ?
