      @@Walkeemm i didn’t miss his point, I’m disagreeing with his point, personally i think this weather system will break up the monotony of farming the same monster over and over, while testing my knowledge of said monster as it’ll be harder to see it. A great example of a game that has purposefully annoying design: DARK SOULS (and all the SoulsBorne games i guess) in case you haven’t played or seen it, the movement and attacks are very stiff, and you must commit to every attack (no attack canceling) which in tern makes every time you kill a boss that much more satisfying.

    The only big concern I have is what the "wound economy" is going to look like in depth. How often they appear, how that rate changes over a hunt, whether there is a limit to the total number that can appear over a hunt, etc.
    With several weapons needing wounds for their mechanics other than just damage dumps, "greedy" weapons that incentivize consuming lots of wounds (like the Bow) could become very multiplayer-unfriendly and stigmatized.

    I don’t see the QOL as a “making the game easier” thing. It’s more like “logically speaking these are things the hunter would naturally do”.
    It makes absolutely no sense that we couldn’t pick up bombs or traps previously other than as a punish, which was fine at the time. Everyone assumes the QOL=Easier game which is just objectively not true. It simply means that they will have to introduce difficulty in more authentic ways.
    Examples: Monsters having faster and longer attack strings to make up for weapons having more logical move-sets (stopping helm break, turning tcs, etc). Monsters being able to recognize trap placement (potentially). Monsters having mechanics that can destroy traps/bombs.
    Will these things be present? Idk, no one does outside of people who work for/with Capcom. It’s fine to have a discussion around QOL, but it seems like all anyone wants to talk about is how worried they are the game will be too easy rather than think for a millisecond that the devs who have been making these games for 20 years know what they are doing and have adjusted the difficulty to match what the player is capable of…like they have done in every game.

    • @skybladebloodheart4247
      @skybladebloodheart4247 2 дня назад +1

      well regardless of how you see it, it is both. from a realism perspective it makes sense which seems to be your perspective. but gameplay wise there are arguments both ways. qol is generally good yes but qol often does in reality make the game quite a bit easier, and if done incorrectly can undermine the games own systems, while im not super worried about that particularly it still does make it easier. a good example of where we can see qol become making the game easier, often when looking at mmo's you'll see people saying oh it's not pay to win it's just got ease of use/qol items. others will vehemently proport that it is pay to win. and the reason is those little qol improvements from the cash shop add up and make the game much easier for people who are willing to empty there wallet. weather you like it or not qol adds up to making a game easier. am i excited to roll barrels at the monsters face hell yeah, do i have mixed feelings on picking up traps cause that was just the risk you took, if you didn't plan/position it well yeah i do. now with regards to realism sometimes with a weapon of huge mass it's not easy to stop mid swing. more importantly, pitfall traps burrow a hole and integrate themselves with the ground how are you picking that up? that one in particularly just doesn't make any sense.

    • @sephirian688
      @sephirian688 2 дня назад +1

      @@skybladebloodheart4247 I’m always down for a discussion. The issue with the comparison you used, mmos, is that the bought QOL improvements are DESIGNED in a way to make the game easier.
      The dev teams in those scenarios are purposefully adding paid mechanics that reduce the difficulty to incentivize the player to buy them. Rather than introducing QOL to add better fluidity while adjusting the game around it. This is the primary difference and the MH team has continuously proven that they fit in the latter group.
      If the argument for pitfall traps is that they burrow into the ground and therefore shouldn’t be able to be moved, then the hunter should be required to spend extra time setting them up as well no? You can’t create a pitfall without digging the hole. However, this has never been how they functioned, you simply place them on the ground (you can even see the wires in later games) and presto the trap is set. What creates the hole is the small explosive in the middle, hence the sort of *poof* when the trap is triggered and why the hole is small enough for the monster to climb out of, thus removing the trap before the explosive should be entirely possible.
      As for weapons, true. However, using helmbreaker as the example, “mid swing” would be on the down thrust and not at the apex of the jump. Even further than that, in a realm where you use a spirit gauge to perform a special action, it makes sense that you would have the knowledge to not use that gauge if it wasn’t going to be effective. We can cover this for every weapon if you would like as another example, the crazy stamina regen on the bow’s dodge. Factually it’s a bit overtuned, but we also don’t really know what the economy will be like for the bow. We don’t have the motion values, we don’t know if the increased damage the player takes from using a ranged weapon has been adjusted.
      I’m not saying the complaints are invalid necessarily. It is ultimately subjective, however the dev team has never given a reason to doubt their ability to maintain the appropriate level of difficulty. The early game monsters are always a cake walk to veteran players and the difficulty progression is smooth. MH has never been a souls like, the technological limitations they had for previous generations simply created jank that made it feel that way. The reason hunters had to pause to drink a potion for example wasn’t a “punish” it was to adjust for how simple the move-sets were for the monsters and therefore keep the fight relatively equal.
      Are QOL mechanics able to be abused? Absolutely and if you or anyone else is genuinely that concerned…then don’t interact with the mechanics. I remember when people were complaining about being able to go back to camp to restock and to that I’ve always said “then don’t do it”. What do some people do though? They go back to camp to restock. Just because it exists doesn’t mean you have to engage with it, it’s not there for you, it’s there for the players who need it.
      You always have the choice to waste your traps because you messed up. You always have the choice to miss the attack because you messed up. You always have the choice to leave your barrel bomb in the wrong spot if you messed up. The ability to rectify these mistakes is added to make the game more fun and engaging for the new, the much younger, and the much older players, not the veteran.

    • @MysteriousStranger50
      @MysteriousStranger50 2 дня назад

      It IS objectively true it makes it easier though. You don’t know what objectively means lol
      It’s fine that it’s logical but it is objectively easier when it’s made more easy for the sake of logic too.

    • @sephirian688
      @sephirian688 2 дня назад +1

      @@MysteriousStranger50 Objectively: “in a way that is not influenced by personal feelings or opinions”. The only one of us who’s being biased based on their opinion is you.
      Therefore it is NOT objective that it makes the game easier. Why? Because when, not if, the devs make adjustments around the addition of the QOL in question then the difficulty of the game never changed. Which they do every, single, time. MHW was not easier than GU, GU was not easier than 4U, 4U was not easier than 3U, 3U was not easier than FU because they adjusted what the monsters were capable of doing in order to be an appropriate fight for what the player was now capable of.

      @@sephirian688 ok so assuming they have tech advanced enough to have something burrow and lay the cover of a pitfall just once, they certainly don't seem to have electricity as far as i can tell so it makes sence it's some sort of mechanical mechanism, now for it to work at all is rediculous enough but we must accept it cause it's true, but if it's mechanical, athe shear idea it can go both ways is extrordinarily unlikely.

      I really don’t think we will be getting multiple flagships again. Generations had four to represent each generation of the franchise up to thst point and to cover the base four elements, Valstrax and Bloodbath Diablos were later added to fill out Dragon and Daw and to represent the series past and future together. Because of this, only Glavenus and Valstrax appear in promotional material such as posters and celebration animations and many people don’t even know Mizutsune or Astalos are flagships, let alone know Gammoth even exists. Wilds has literally no reason to have multiple flagships to cover each zone rather than one tough elder dragon who can invade any region it wants, and if they did do multiple flagships again, all but one of them are going to get shafted in future games and promo material.

Meaning, with bow for example, youre talking about how busted the perfect evade is which does aound bad ass, but you need to remember a LARGE majority of MH players will NOT be able to take full advantage of the mechanic. Most players do not pocess the level of skill needed to do a perfect evade consistently. That is where you get more into speed runner territory. Those will be the players that make the most of these new mechanics. Otherwise, for the most part, they're all great changes. You need to remember, the speed runners and people like you, josh, cotton and ruri are not the average players.

    Some more on long sword moving away from being an Iai counter spam weapon, I that I think they want Iai stance and counter to be most useful in getting to red fatser but less useful while in red. My reason for thinking this is that the Iai counter raises a level and the Iai stance doesn't turn as far anymore making it less great at being able to 180 counter everything and you can no longer counter into another counter and while in red foresight counter gets upgraded and it also has that new move that attacks after a round slash, so now while in red it has 2 moves that do what Iai stance is meant to do a damage counter and an combo extender but both are faster to set up and presumably hit harder than the Iai stance, which makes Iai stance still useful in gameplay but not the best while in red and it also makes the Foresight counter have an actual reason to be used over the Iai counter thats not just safety since it gets upgraded in red guage

    • @iownall2222
      @iownall2222 2 дня назад +1

      Shoulder tackle gameplay like that has always been the most optimal game play for a GS in the 5th gen, outside of sun break and slinger skip in iceborn. Using the shoulder tackle to get to TCS has always been the way to get up to max charge the fastest.
      It's knowing what attacks you can survive a hit from and also if the monster will be in a position to attack afterwards. There are times it's best to shoulder tackle into a sheath so you can get out of an attack and heal or reposition.

      @@iownall2222 hmm interesting. I think I just am not that learned of all the nuisances of GS. I usually go Frostcraft / punishing draw crit draw and go for big single charges and then roll cancel out hit and run tactics

    • @iownall2222
      @iownall2222 2 дня назад

      @@rickn6923 and that's definitely a way to do it. Nothing wrong with that play style, it does the single biggest hits so that's not a bad way to play. But in terms of optimal DPS, you want to do TCS as often as possible. ESPECIALLY with frost craft bc if you do it right, you can get the full buff of frost craft, on the final hit of TCS. GS is a very simple weapon to be able to use, but has a very high skill ceiling once you start to understand the weapon and the monsters.
      For instance, that slinger skip I mentioned, you could fire your slinger after the first attack and then jump straight into TCS. Making it significantly quicker to do than normal, but also the slinger hit wouldn't affect the frost craft level. So you could then TCS in openings where you normally wouldn't have the time to.

    • @rickn6923
      @rickn6923 2 дня назад

      @@iownall2222 I appreciate the advice. I had heard of the slinger skip but never really looked into it until now. I’m finding my only issues as I don’t have AT velkhana armor is that I don’t have the slots to fit in WEX to make those worth while. I have a good amount of decos but not enough wex/relevant skill level 4 decos so it’s hard to fit in. I think I only have one wex/vitality atm.

  • @Syn-eo7yv
    @Syn-eo7yv 2 дня назад +1

    I don't mind the actual quality of life stuff (better UI, item access/radial menus, quicker gathering) but what I don't care for is how it doesn't feel like you're trying to survive any more. You basically have infinite healing and other items via camps (not to mention no penalty for doing it.) The older MH titles felt like you were trying to SURVIVE the fight and it made you play more levelheaded. They've leaned too far into non-stop action and less survival IMO. But it is nice seeing more movement/reposition options for weapons (i.e. the new gunlance strafe attack, new dual blades move, etc.)

    • @MysteriousStranger50
      @MysteriousStranger50 2 дня назад

      You ALWAYS had “infinite healing” at camps since MH1. The bed. Infinite free use bed that fully healed you.
      Potions run out so bad players can’t infinitely heal since they will run out of potions. The only people complaining about camp restocks are therefore bad players who need them to begin with.

    • @Syn-eo7yv
      @Syn-eo7yv 2 дня назад

      @@MysteriousStranger50 I completely forgot about the bed lol, but it is impractical to use. You're not wrong about potion use. I guess my actual complaint is the game used to feel more like dark souls to me. You had limited resources to get the job done without dying. Even gathering resources and crafting the healing items you needed was hard (for me) to keep up with when I first started playing. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they streamlined things (it used to be very time consuming), but now you pretty much have infinite items and it's way too easy to farm resources (the argosy in rise is broken AF.) It would be cool to see more survival aspects in gathering and crafting on the field and have less resources starting a mission. But that is just my personal opinion.

    Hammer and Huntin Horn Mains are crying because their weapons are almost never featured and even things like Lance get more attention from all the developers.
    So right now it looks like these weapons are losing out.
    Especially the bow and greatsword with the new extreme mobility are big winners.
    I'm excited about the game, don't get me wrong, but the pacing and mobility of combat in Sunbreak was far better.
    I also wish there was more innovation or good stuff taken from games like Wild Hearts that tried something new in the genre.
    And so far the graphics look good, but definitely not triple A PS5 / Pro graphics. The environment looks kind of boring.
    But we've only seen the desert and some glimpses of an underground cave jungle-like environment.
    I'm not too worried, but at this stage I hope we've only seen 20% of the game.
    And if they don't get the graphic bumped with the PS5 Pro I at least hope for constant 60FPS on all modes.
    And I hope they finally show more of the other locals and new monsters.
    And maybe some really "new things" and not just "world 2 vibe" stuff.
