I slept on a cheaper version in a car(took out the rear seat,put 3/4" plywood right through) for 3mths in New Zealand, excellent, but as you were doing, I thin pad is required to keep the cold coming up from underneath... little Mazda Familia car,by the way...feet in the boot/trunk,head behind the front seats! Cheap version worth considering!
