    This diagram and explanation are very much simplified in order to easily understand the concept. I'm not a math teacher, so look elsewhere for help solving specific problems. This is simply a quick look at how the venturi effect works, and where you can find venturi vacuums in the aquarium hobby.

    A little correction. The low pressure starts as the water begins to enter the narrowing section; where your arrows are *beginning* to converge. Where the arrows diverge (at the exit of the narrot section) the pressure is indeed increasing.
    However, with a rapid expansion in diameter of the pipe, a secondary low pressure area is formed where your "vacuum tube" is located. This is because the water cannot make a rapid turn around the angle of the expanding tupe and is trying to continue straight. In effect,the water "pulls away from the curved side forming a lower pressure area.

    Venturis are heavily used in koi pond builds, too. Great explanation.

    Really Great Video. You explained it so simply and so well. I once heard this statement: "When you fully understand something you are able to explain what you are talking about simply." This statement is proven true in this video. Thanks So Much!!

    Can you please help with 2 questions:
    1. difference between air and water as the driving media for venturi vacuum pump? I know of two systems in 2 different machines. Which one is better to use?
    2. For the system that use water as driving media, we have to keep the water cool ( recommeded < 15 degree C). If water is hot, the venturi fails, but why? what is the difference in properties of hot and cool water that causes this?
    I've been trying to understand these points.
    Thank you so much in advance.

    Hi sir. A question pls.
    Bernuli equation is only for incompressible fluids, but air is compressible. So how pitot tube and bernuli principle works for airplanes to calculate the velocity ✈???
    Bc air is compressible
    Thank you so much.

    Hello. One question, why is it that the water flow dosent go via the venturi vacuum tube? Shouldnt it create a low pressure again there and the water flow this direction?Thanks!

  • @frankvee
    @frankvee 7 лет назад +1

    The right side is low pressure, not high pressure. Low pressure is what enables you to add the tap for the vacuum tube.

    The PVC fitting is called an ejector pump. It uses entrainment and has nothing to do with the venturi.
    Ejector pumps are used in ships' bilge pumps because an unlimited supply of sea water is available

    I have a fresh water spring that keeps a 50gal drum over full 24/7 which is connected to 4000' of 1" geothermal tubing with something like 900' of head. I am trying to filter and aerate a goldfish pond that is about I want to say 500gal tops while being offgrid. 2 HUGE goldfish and 2 smaller ones. I want to use a venturi siphon pump but I am not sure how to build it. I want to move water from the fish pond into filter media bucket which will be drained with U siphons. Can you help? I work a small gold claim in the mountains every summer and I have to bring my fish babies with me and I need to keep them healthy.

    • @franki01mail

      But this way you can pump e.g. acid without any filters that secure the pump. Or e.g. you have a thing like frv30 - look for it at youtube. You don't need a vacuum machine, because the "brush" uses this effect to pump dirty water out, using the pressure from a pressure washer. You can see that behaviour here: ruclips.net/video/35vHWq9bSOU/видео.html (I couldn't find a better footage).

    Thanks for the upload, Online I have seen a make of these pumps (V-Pump) and they claim that it can push water 💦 40ft up! Is this possible as the device looks so small, and secondly they say it moves 1,200lt of water a hour.
    I have been trying to find information about what Bar pressure is needed online, but have found nothing.
    Also is it possible for a Venturi pump to move 6,000lt per hour?
    Cheers 🍻

    so could you in theory put one of these T's on the return of your canister or sump, with a valve on the vacuum side, that you could lead to say a bucket of water or something to refill your tank for a water change without using a pump?

    • @gregjonesonline
      @gregjonesonline  7 лет назад +1

      sounds highly likely, as long as the pump is strong enough to lift it

    Whether there is high Pressure, high Temp and high Velocity, or the three components are otherwise. Not just two and one act opposingly because it makes no sense.
