I have been struggling with my drive, not able to work out why sometimes it goes well, then most of the time it doesn’t. I watched this video shortly before playing a knockout match, tried the different swing path and it made a huge difference, I hit far more fairways than I normally would, and hit the ball further than I ever have before. Thank you so much 😊
Was just off to bed and I actually was doing this fix at the range today bringing the ball back to inside of my heel to get my corrections on driver. I think and hope that those who watch this really got your insight into this. It s what I have also come up with much trial and error and I like the part of you improving your irons and then at the price of the driver swing.....that s me too. I also find the 5 wood is an excellent training club for the swing that can be the go betwen irons and driver swing training. Wonderful Video. I like your instruction very much. It s very real and practical as I tend to be.
Wow, I have been trying to hit up with my driver and have gone from hitting a nice draw to a fade and sometimes a slice and couldn't figure out why. Now I know why! I can't wait to get to the range tomorrow and start hitting tight drawing bombs, thank you!
After looking at your videos and advices for just a short time, I bought a 7 wood and a 5 hybrid. this week. On the golf corse yesterday, my driver went longer than ever before, the hybrid worked beautifully. I had some problems with the 7 wood, but I’ll practice more. Thank you :-)
Thats an idea I will def take to the range tomorrow . I did try an idea very similar when playing with a good driver of the ball in Portugal this year , resulted in a long high draw for me that my partner said was the best drive he had ever seen me make. But I was not confident enough during the competition to try and repeat it as i was also struggling with poor weight transfer. Work in progress for me now. Thanks
Enjoying your videos. Nice explanations with demonstrations. Your actual ball strikes are similar to my experience and the concepts make perfect sense. Thank you!
Everyone explains about moving the body, straightening the arms and attack angle and I’ve watched numerous Videos as I’m struggling with distance and swing path. No body has actually said you can alter the swing path to compliment the attack angle and this is why I haven’t improved. Thanks for this, even though it’s been a year and I’ve watched every driver video in 2023 I’ll be going to the driving range before work to try this out
Great demonstration, now I understand why I’ve struggled with hitting it to the right when moving the ball forward. No, I didn’t understand this previously, very eye opening and will help me tremendously. Thank you!
I've known, and forgotten, that secret many times. It is one of those little golden nuggets that few people explain to you but when someone does, seems obvious. Unfortunately I usually forget it before I put it into practice. LOL. However, I remembered it a few months ago, while warming up for a comp round and, as unwise as it sounds, put it into practice that round. I have been hitting the driver 'arrow straight' ever since. My fairways hit % has gone from 58% to 74% and I've even gained about 10 yards or so carry distance. Let's spread the secret :)
This video is a bit of a eureka moment for me. Got fitted for a driver, hitting it straight but because I was hitting down in the ball, back spin was killing distance. Worked hard on hitting up on the ball and succeeded, but in the process developed horrible slice. Tried stronger grip, setting the driver to draw bias etc, nothing has worked….Now having watched this, what and why it is going wrong all makes sense. Now to try and fix it. Thanks.
Thank you very much for This driver tips I was longer hitter but no iron player now days just opposite happening to my golf. I have had driver lessons spent money for drivers none of them work out. I came to know why. I can't thank you enough this tips is money saving tips.
Brilliant one, Ali, thank you. This is exactly what is happening to me, but only very recently. I never used to lean back, but always lined the ball up to the heel of the front foot. I have been trying to lean recently to hit up. I have been terrible, so thank you.
Great video. A subject that everyone is an expert on, however with the data and your example about the path of direction after the low point, I think I understand more in this 10min video than the coaching and friends telling me that I'm doing wrong. I need to hit the range/course to see what I can do. Thanks Ali
Yes, thanks, that's how I hit my driver. I swing out to the right with the ball forward with a tilt and an open stance. As for the irons,I have been doing what you said most of us do. Hitting from the inside too out. I will start trying the iron method using a coin.
Interesting tip with the driver Ali, exaggerating in to out because of the low point and forward ball position, would focussing on striking the inside of the ball help to move the path right?
Golfing today I was trying to hit up with the driver and because I was not swinging more from inside to the right I struggled with pull hooks. Before I was hitting it straight but not enough up to gain distance. I need to work on what you described in this video. I am thinking correctly? Thanks for your help.
I like how you use technology to make adjustments. Since I don’t have these tools, I can use the information I absorb from the lessons, and then apply the techniques to my style. Thanks.
Great Video Alistair. So I really need to feel out and up with driver, with a full release? . With irons though to feel down, left with passive hands. . I didn’t know this before your video, I use the quad launch monitor and it doesn’t seem to have this information. I must admit that I’m still a bit unsure exactly what all the trackman info is. Perhaps a video on the difference with different launch monitors and what you should be looking for is an idea for a video in the future.
I knew somehow this is what was happening that was causing my horrific slice and that occasional big hook. Thanks for your explanation, I still didn't quite understand how to fix it though.
Thanks for your swing tips of driver. I have a question. When you come down the club head behind you to make it more in to out swing path, do you use your wrist rotation actively at impact? What is your main motion to make tr club head square at impact position. Wrist? Arm? Or body(hips)?
My exact problem since I changed my irons but I now struggle to hit in to out - driver used to be a great solid straight draw before hitting down on irons - tried hitting as you say but they go right as I think I’m compensating the face
This helped. I was struggling to visualize how to go from setup to this swing path. This explanation makes sense, and translated to on-course performance this evening. I pushed my tee shots on to the next fairway a couple of times, but they were high and straight (i.e., not mega slices). Well-presented content.
Will take this on board and try and get in front of one of those machines; but I notice that cocking my wrists at the top of the swing helps. Can you comment on this aspect please Ali?
If. I may impart a wee tip I received many (eh...many, many) years ago, push a longish white tee into the hole in the top of the top of the grip. As you start the downswing, create a mental image of pushing the ball with that white tee. The intention is to try and ensure that the hands are behind and low, resulting in a more shallow in to out swing direction. It may not work for everyone of course, but anything is worth a shot if you are struggling with the driver. Hope it helps someone.
I think that might be exactly what I've been doing... I hook because my swing is too straight... I gotta get a swing path monitor... What's the best and cheapest swing direction tool?
One problem that will pop up is club face control. It´s so much easier to control the face rotation near the low point, than way past the low point when the club is later into it´s release. That said, if you can control your release, then great! Also, this could be a fine way to learn that control.
Ive recently been getting the odd one like this. I struggle to repeat it unfortunately. They occur when i do an overswing and i see clubhead appear. I then have more time to build speed with full release past ball. I get huge height compared to normal with career best distance and feels easy. Solid sound. Straight. Compared with thin sound, out to in with pull or slice. Want learn how to do this all the time.
Thanks, man!! Awesome info works like a charm. My problem is still consistency. I can balloon a slice or pull a nasty hook....sigh🙄 lol. BACK TO THE RANGE!!!😅😆😁
Thank you so much for this lesson! Question? Should a person bring a video camera to the range and film their swings? Both from behind and from the side?
Isn't ball position the very critical factor here as far as in to out, out to in path in a rotary swing? Not sure I've got this straight in my mind. Tks
I am confused a bit. You are suggesting to golfers that they should align the clubhead with their spine angle on the backswing. Conversely, it is apparent that you are taking the driver inside dramatically on the backswing. The two swings could not be more opposite. I subscribe to keeping the clubfacse aligned with your spine angle at address for both the irons and woods ( oops I just gave away my age) and playing the club a bit forward as my hips open. Please help me understand this.
Ali what do you think of that TSi3 driver? I went with the Sim 2 Max and I think I made a mistake. I've been playing a 910 d2 for the past 11 years and think I should have resisted the marketing hype and stayed with Titleist. Expensive mistake!
Man im hitting my driver almoat dead lwft and when i try to hit reall inside i hit it straight right. Im really struggling teying to figure out how to hit it straight again.
Wedges and the putter are far more emotional, imo. The driver need not be such a source of worry because you can hit the 3 wood or another long club off the tee. All anyone really needs from the tee shot is something in play. If you're putting so much pressure on your drive, you're screwed already.
I have been struggling with my drive, not able to work out why sometimes it goes well, then most of the time it doesn’t. I’ve been struggling with this for a few weeks and couldn’t figure out what was going on. This is a super good eye opener. Thank you for this!
Beautiful, this is the great Mike Austin's 'Under, Up and Out' principle that so many get wrong. A fantastic demonstration, thank you!!

Thanks Ali now that makes sense to me As it explains my results on moving the ball up!
Makes sense. Will try this. Ive been trying to hit up recently and have been pulling the ball just like u said. I will work on this secret

Great demo . Excellent strategy. Did not know this secret until now .
Great technical support for all golfer's I for sure will add these "secrets " to my cheat sheet !

You got this!
@@AliTaylorGolf I did, Ali. I will give it a go. Thanks.
Very good tips! Up and out toward the right - both. Will give it a try. Thanks...
my first time hearing this, will practice it and see, thanks for the insight.

I couldn't agree more.
Spot on advice. I moved the ball up and started slicing. Just a little bit more adjustment and bam. The ball is gone!
Good video, good lesson. I need to quit worrying about ball contact and ball path and just hit through the ball.
I did not know the secret! Off to the range! Much appreciated!!
This is what I have been missing. Changed my drives exactly as explained. Thanks. Let me know if you ever visit Arizona.
Will do Ed

excellent excellent excellent video - great explaining

Exactly right. I am always surprised how much more from the inside the driver path should be.

The tech is just giving feedback, always the golfer making the change. Glad you enjoy my videos. Thank you.
Great video. i was trying to learn this (swing from inside towards the right) but your clear explanation really confirm my understanding. Awesome! 👍✌😊
Thank you

The Quad will still show angle of attack, which can help with low point. If you know low point and swing path you can work out swing direction
Great tips good video !!
Can’t wait to try this , cheers👍

I see this working well with your rotary swing. I need to see how I am with my upright swing. Any extra suggestions?
Make sure the downswing is better
This helped.

this really was a realization for me, just the issue I needed thanks

Makes a lot of sense. I'll give it a try and we'll see what happens.
Will take this on board and try and get in front of one of those machines; but I notice that cocking my wrists at the top of the swing helps. Can you comment on this aspect please Ali?
Great video Ali, the average drive total on tour at the moment is 320 BDC. You hit it 270, i'd be happy with 230 down the middle.
Omg I need to try this hopefully it's a game changer

It's better than no feedback but really depends on correct angles and to know what you're looking at.
Isn't ball position the very critical factor here as far as in to out, out to in path in a rotary swing? Not sure I've got this straight in my mind. Tks
Ali, how far forward do you tee the ball. I notice you are using the orange tee
Brilliant video 👍
Thanks 👍
In to out swing but no mention of turning the right wrist over to the left or the the right arm to the left. Can y comment please?
What swing monitor system are you using.
Trackman 4
Love your stuff keep it up
Appreciate it!
Thanks for this video. I've been slicing my 5 Wood recently off the tee and off the fairway. Does the same principle work for those woods?
It should but depends on the club face as well
A driver is a 1 wood. Don't all woods need a sweeping swing?
@@mousepotatop9767 No. Slightly descending, even with a 3 wood.

I do both slide and hooks. Good demonstration. Use W5 and W3 instead of Driver when I need straight hits, or the Hybrid. Driver is a demanding friend.
Excellent but shove the feet lining to ball
Pal tour
I’ve try to imagine I’m hitting the ball at the 7 o’clock position to help me hit inside.
👍👍👍
Anybody else notice that he isn't looking at the ball at impact, nor a half second before hand?
Hi Ali; just wanted to say it's a great video, but you have the same issue as most other RUclips instructors. You just can't keep a secret! 🤣
no i didn't
I'm pretending to understand this!?
Wow how many secrets to hitting driver longer and straighter do you know, you seem to find a new every couple of weeks 🤣🤣
Only a secret if you don't know it, lots of golfers don't 😀
TMI. Sorry you lost me at the 1 minute mark. Lessons should be to the point do this and that, film the ball not the hat. 😳
