1:03 does smites damage ever get reduced due to weapon damage immunity. Ie. If a monster is resistant to slashing, then 1d8+4 is halved due to resistance. I choose to smite. Does 2d8 radiant for 1st spell slot damage get halved as well?
If the monster is immune to the damage type, no hit points are lost. If the monster has resistance to a damage type, then only half the normal hit points are lost. Very few monsters have resistance or immunity to radiant damage from a Smite.
The class feature states nothing about declaring the divine smite before hitting the target. I have included a link to Jeremy Crawfords response on this topic, www.sageadvice.eu/2015/12/28/can-a-paladin-with-a-critical-choose-to-use-divine-smite/
Some where I saw some stacking multiple types of smite on one attack. It didn't seem to match the rules to me. I'm going to look stuff up anyway. Maybe smiting spells add to the normal smite....? Should they? Am I just having a noob moment?
Hello...if my Paladin uses two swords, and hit with both swords on the same round and decide to use one slot of devine smite first level, should I apply the bonus on both hits or only one? Thanks!
If you use lvl 4 improved divine smite coupled with banishing smite on an undead using a greatsword you can deal up to 5d10+7d8+2d6+strength modifier damage... Now imagine it being a crit. You can deal up to 241 damage ! Yes, paladin is op
@@HowtoRPG I was reading the rules and am thinking that I can throw a javelin or a dagger or a spear (melee weapons) and divine smite with them since they technically count as a melee weapon attacks. Am I reading this right?
@@HowtoRPG I guess it's just worded poorly in the handbook as you seem to understand DS applies when "weapon attacks are made in melee"(which would bar empty hand attacks from using DS, but not a smack with a longbow) and I'm understanding "any attack made with a melee weapon"( which would mean fists ok, a thrown melee weapon ok, but ranged weapons not ok even if used in melee). I realy just have one question, what is the limit of how many d8's you roll, and does improved divine smite count tword this limit. Because I did the math with no limits on a level 20 palidain attacking and undead fiend including the level 11 extra divine smite and found you would roll 45d8 (plus a 1d8 wepon) so a total of 44d8 of divine smite and 45d8 with the wepon minus the wepon modifier.

@@HowtoRPG Maybe you can help me further. A paladin's Channel Divinity. What's the rules for that? Using 2 long swords, once your regular attack hits with 1 longsword, and you combine divine smite with it. Could you then use a bonus action of "two weapon fighting", to hit again with your 2nd longsword?
Two weapon fighting only allows an extra attack with a light melee weapon when your first attack was with a light weapon also, if I remember correctly.
Smite the crap out of every single monster Lololololol
Glad you liked the opening. It so true ;)
If you crit on your attack roll does the divine smite crit as well?
If you critical hit on the attack roll you can select to apply divine smite and double all the dice involved.
When in doubt, smite.
It does seem so.
As ever, nicely done Fred. - Thanks
Thank you Darren.

How to D&D amazing
Thanx I was sooo confused till the video 👍
Happy to help :)
Do you have to call smite early (like have it on the ready) or at the time you’re taking your action? I’m a noob so I have no idea.
You don’t have to call it out till you know the dice roll result. But many Dungeon Master's dislike this and apply it differently.
thanks mate!
Divine strike that clerics have, does that one cost a spell slot as well? Or it usable every single round?
Found the answer, only cost the "reaction" to deal the holy thunder, and can be used every single turn...

I'm thinking of making a Variant Human character Dual wielder feat with Fighter dip to get Champion. Increasing chance to Crit Smite every round.
That will do it nicely.
@@HowtoRPG as far as im concerned divine smite is extra damage therefore it cannot crit
well i went to do a little research and it does in fact crit
wich is totaly broken

I am glad you are no longer confused :)
How many times can you use divine smite in a battle phase, so can I use it more than once at lvl 3 paladin
as many times as you have spell slots to spare basically
If you were to divine smite and then strike again with a second melee weapon and Divine smite a second time, does your spell slots refresh?
No.
