      And then with haste it’s doubled to 80 feet I think. And finally at level 20 you get a flying speed of 60 feet. With mobile that’s 70 and hasted that becomes 140 if I’m reading this correctly

    • @SoI_Badguy
      @SoI_Badguy 3 года назад +3

      That's what I did with my first campaign character lmao. Had a Vengeance Paladin Centaur that picked the mobile feat and got ahold of the Horseshoes of speed. 80ft innate movement, doubled to 160ft with haste.

      @@zach415 I got to lvl 20 with my path of vengeance. But I loved using the spell “Find greater steed” to get a Pegasus, because then it’s your magical BFF for life, with a flying speed of 90. With haste it’s 180. And if you use your action and hasted action, you have movement speed of 540. Now if I’ve done the math right, that’s about 55-60 mph. And I was dubbed by my party as the flying horse truck of vengeance.

    so one thing I'd like to mention is that native tanks which are tanks that drive enemy attacks away from the party have a particular subclass, so the paladin gets the oath of redemption if I'm correct the barbarian gets path of ancestors, and the fighter gets cavalier plus battle master and they tend to make the best native tanks as their subclass abilities lend themselves to being one

  • @Getsuei_Tsugikuni

    Speed Demon Paladin:
    6 Levels in Hunter Ranger (For Hunter’s Mark)
    7 Levels in Oath of Glory Paladin (For that Living Legend Status.)
    7 Levels in Fighter (Cavalier) (Dueling Fighting Style)
    Mobile Feat + Polearm Master Feat + Defensive Duelist Feat
    Find Greater Steed (Pegasus) + Haste Spells
    Pegasus has a movement speed of 60 feet. Mobile increases that to 70 feet. I think Aura of Alacrity also increases that to 80 feet. Haste would make that 160 feet. (If not 140 feet is still fast.) Super fast, but we can go even faster. The Pegasus also has a flying speed of 90 feet. Mobile increases that to 100 feet. I think Aura of Alacrity would increase that to 110 feet. Haste makes that to 220 feet. (If not, 200 feet is still fast.) You can literally charge someone in the blink of an eye. *They truly won’t know what hit them.* Of course, the Pegasus gets fatigued after. It’s still an amazing light-speed divine smite attack. Unwavering Mark + Hunter’s Mark also greatly weaken the target for you to deal great damage in that 1 attack.

    now to make a pacifist with this build, powerful characters restricted by alignment and self-made rules are my favourite. "I can't attack the little guy, he'd get seriously injured!" and then that person rolls max damage on a crit and absolutely wipes the floor with you.

  • @Dave004
    @Dave004 2 года назад +1

    Maybe its me but I find Vengeance to be overrated. Its very good but not the best subclass in my opinion. I dunno about other people but in my campaigns, 99% of the time, if i'm upfront i'm not getting any opportunity attacks unless they are forced by a spell like Dissonant Whispers. So the amount of play i'd get out of Relentless Avenger is basically nothing. Pretty bad when other Aura's give you things like resistance against magic spells to you and others 10ft from you, increase bonus to every Initiative roll to you and others within 10 feet, extra Charisma modifier dmg per attack, never being charmed or even increased speed by 10 feet and to others who start within 5 ft of you, etc.
    To me Vengeance has some decent spells (mainly Misty Step, Haste as long as you don't lose concentration, Dimension Door but thats higher lvls not everyone plays), and its Channel Divinity. I prefer Watchers or Redemption if you want to be more supportive, Oathbreaker if dmg is your goal, Vengeance like I said has its uses but would probably be my 3rd choice overall, just my opinion.

  • @adrianjones142
    @adrianjones142 4 года назад +5

    This gets cool with Vow of Enmity (advantage on attack rolls) since you will be front line and likely to have 2 attacks with adv. on your turn (level 5 paladin onwards), and 1 attack with adv. as AoO, increasing your chances to crit and stack crit smites. Things get even crazier if you took 1 level Warlock for Hexblade's Curse to expand your crit range to 19-20 rolls, but this starts to eat into your Bonus Action economy. The next feat it you make it to PAM Paladin 8 would of course be GWM (nothing new here).

      @sum body You'll have to forgive me as I was three sheets to the wind when I wrote that horrid post. When I sobered up I realized my mistake and being quite properly embarrassed deleted it. You're quite right of course that a single level dip would not have an effect - one would have to take multiple levels in a pure spellcaster class to have any significant effect on the number of spell slots.

    I got a bit of a thought for lower levels. Halberd is not as worth it as a sheild and spear. Why. Well your not running into creatures within 10 feet of attack for one so your polearm master attack always goes through. So theres no disadvantage there, but the advantage is the +2 AC. You take less damge this way when sacrificing nothing until you get setinal. Then you change to a halberd.

    You want a really annoying build?
    Battlemaster fighter , oath of vengeance paladin , inquisitive rogue.
    Take the great weapon fighting style
    Take the feats
    Polearm Master
    Sentinel
    Great weapon master
    Take the battlemaster maneuvers goading
    Push
    Maneuvering
    Make sure you have a pike or glaive or any other heavy two handed polearm with reach.
    Before a battle starts take your time to study with the battlemaster.
    Then hunters mark with paladin spell.
    With inquisitive rogue you gain sneak attack when not sneaking. Use the battlemaster ability to maneuver allies into flanking position. Then use goading on the enemy so they only attack you.
    With the feats you have, they come within range and you get attack of opportunity. If you hit they are stunned. But you also smite and sneak attack and get hunters mark damage.
    Rinse and repeat for massive amounts of damage in an attack of opportunity. And then even more in rounds of combat. Best part is, since you have reach, anything within 10 ft will get attacked with attack of opportunity and potentially takes massive damage as well.
    Congratulations, you have become the ultimate defense and offense with 1 big drawback.
    You are heavily reliant on prepping before the battle with melee meaning if your caught off guard by ranged, things can fall apart very quickly.
    Oh and I forgot to mention. Action Surge, Oath of Enmity, and extra attacks.

  • @binolombardi
    @binolombardi 5 лет назад +4

    The rogue might be mad if no one is actually near an enemy. Other ranged attackers might not have a problem. AC will likely be 17-18 by that level with the strength and armor proficiency with 2 handed weapons. The saves will be decent at that level with the aura of protection.
    Party probably won’t like the mobility of the paladin and not being able to take advantage of the 10ft aura too.
    The hunters mark seems very effective with the many attacks too.
    I have a build that is similar, has less damage potential over all with the single character.
    Human variant str based rogue scout with a 1 level dip in cleric. Pick the tavern brawler feat and the grappler feat. The 3rd level feature to move half speed when an enemy ends its turn within 5ft of you has no other requirements. You can grapple an creature, use it as cover to effectively get 2 AC bonus like a shield, and shank the creature to pieces with sneak attack.
    I picked arcana cleric for extra cantrips to include booming blade and prestidigitation. Flavored the guy as a military vet who worked as a cook but got captured and had to survive as a POW. Found religion there and brought him through.
    A cleric with heavy armor proficiency is probably a better choice for the AC boost though.

      It does, however polearm master allows you to opportunity attack as a reaction to anyone entering your 10ft radius. The build is very reliant on actually hitting your reaction or you’ll be left alone 20ft ahead of your party.

    Am I the only one who hates the Polearm Master feat? That goes for Crossbow master too. These are feats for fringe weapons that make them better than more traditional weapons that don't have equivalent feats. If you want to be the best archer, you have to use a crossbow+ mastery. If you want to be the best great weapon fighter you have to use a polearm+ mastery.

    This trick may be incredibly dirty, but is also very situational and in no way game breaking. Besides, it's just normal that you get to shine from time to time by stopping a giant ogre dead in its tracks by your lonesome. If everyone in the party had a gimmick of their own, the games would in no way be boring.

    So paladin is one of the classes in the game that can go without dark vision as it gets access to the spell dark vision which is a 2nd level none concentration spell that gives a creature within touch range 8 hours of 60ft dark vision so you can bypass that limitation when playing a dragon born, human, halfling, or even war forged

    just found this video, but there is a better build, Conquest paladin, stops them dead if they are scared of you and deals damage equals to 1/2 your level. you can scare any amount of people in 30ft of you and if they are in 10 ft of you their speed is 0, once per short rest. and once you get fear at 9th level you can now do this 3 to 5 times with short rests.

    there's more ways then one in which a paladin can comparably be as annoying as this, albeit stronger against groups. When riding a horse (which a level 4 paladin can conjure) it is able to use a lance as a 1 handed weapon, which is quite strong. Without investing anything extra in that paladin, given that outdoor combat (where mounted combat is viable) is quite rare, it is nice it's not a huge investment. Here's how that version works: you can charge in 60 ft towards the enemy, make a lance attack at 10ft range, make the horse use it's action to dash back out. Given that there's so many enemies with 5ft range, it's possible to keep kiting away. When it's not possible to outrange the opponent, whenever you charge in them when they are 20+ft away from you they have to make a dc14 str save or fall prone. if that works it still won't trigger an opportunity attack when running away. You might be fooled to think that the paladin from the video counters this, by stopping the horse and making an attack, but after that the horse can still dash 60ft without triggering an attack, except now he can charge into one of the more squishy targets of the group.

    Sounds very good, but respectfully I would avoid 8 in Wis (and even in Int) if I can help it. Key reasons being that first while RP-wise I can justify low Int on a "rookie", that rookie still has some experience, and just can't not have 10 wis in my eyes (imho only, feel free to play however you want). Second, and that might sound superstitious, but I'd rather put 10 and think I've done everything to keep Wis at least decent than worry that I failed a Perception check/a Wis save because I was that one point short. My favorite Variant Human stat spread is (in no particular order) 16 14 14 10 10 10. While mechanically 8 Str Fighters and 8 Int Rangers can work, I refuse to allow that on either because my common sense rebels against the idea of a Fighter with 8 Str (I'd consider 10 average) as much as against the 8 Int Ranger - can't even tie his shoes properly? doesn't know the landscape? can't prioritize if left alone with little supplies in a critical situation? While many of those cases might invoke wisdom (life experience, reflexes...) or even the background (illiterate hunters with no knowledge in trigonometrics exist to this day) that's a question of personal style. That aside, an enjoyable vid.
