    This movie rocked. I loved it when it first came out. Never saw the play.

      The play is pretty much the same, although in the play there is a scene between the 2 sisters that is interesting. It isn't here.

    They gave Jonathan Silverman nothing for his terrific debut, he was good throughout this movie and has a very likable quality, I loved the movie.

    Hello David here from Sebring Florida USA I been a movie buff for over fifty years and R and G were way off! This movie is fantastic! So well done! It is a must see I would not recommend for family viewing, Unless we are ready to talk to your teenagers about adult subjects 😊

    This is one of the most snobby reviews they ever gave.

    I love this movie. Loved it since I was 15, almost 49 now. I watch it at least once a month. I know every line by heart. I don't agree with these two gentlemen but hey to each it's own. Opinions are like ass holes; everyone has one.

    Wow. This is the only time in which I'm in complete disagreement with them both. I loved *BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS.* No, I didn't see the play. I just took this film for what it was. And for me, it was thoughtful, intelligent, real, and funny as hell.

    the play spoiled the movie for both of them.they shouldn't compare. the movie was great and remains great and I would highly recommend it

    So so wrong on so many levels. This movie was perfection. Perfectly casted, acted and directed. But I guess I'm no movie critic. S&E has reviewed some of my most favorite films so negatively. I would love to see the play, but comparing a movie to a play is like comparing a movie to a book; the book will always be better.

    Did Siskel not have a childhood? I adored this movie as a preteen in the 80s and loved it since. I don't care if it's "one long whine" b/c that's what adolescence is about, and the dialogue is snappy and funny. It's a charmer of a movie--Silverman's great but I don't know why Broderick didn't get the lead in this one. He'd already had Wargames under his belt by then.

    Critics suck. Often times they can’t measure the average person’s bonding with characters or story.

    This is why I never listen to "critics" when they review a film. Everything they hated about this movie I thoroughly enjoyed and loved. This is one of my all-time favorite movies and my philosophy is that nine times out of ten if they think a movie is so bad, then it's a great one. I liked watching these two but job or not, they overthink and read too much into these films.

    They keep comparing the play to the movie and that’s their mistake right there. The movie was good, they were wrong. That’s all there is.

    They're two different pieces of art. I don't agree with either of these two nutballs. This movie quickly became a classic and Jonathan Silverman did a great Eugene....

  • @bobroma
    @bobroma 2 года назад

    This review is awful. They hate Jonathan Silverman. Um I guess that they don't know that when Mathew Broderick left the Broadway play Jonathan Silverman took over the roll. And actually did more performances than Broderick did. And to rave reviews I might add.

    • @kdohertygizbur
      @kdohertygizbur 7 месяцев назад

      "rave reviews"?? 😊 Broderick won a Tony Award...where's your proof on Silverman ??

  • @Thejoshrandall

    Ironic that movie was great and the review was boring, wrong, poorly cast with nagging characters. It just missed the mark with me, don't waste your time. Effin critics, never could stand these two stiffs.
