I'm just starting with dimple locks and I have a few 7x7s, including one in a mortise cylinder configuration which I received in the post yesterday. I'm curious to find out, if I gut the mortise lock, whether I'll find the same long spools potentially mismatched with long key pins as you found in your euro lock. It strikes me that I could easily improve the strength of this lock just from varying the spools. Perhaps I may try a couple of shorter ones, a barrel pin or dual-spool, maybe a spool with a narrower waist than the others, maybe vary the springs while I'm at it. Interesting food for thought.

I think the mistake that we all make one we start lockpicks and seeing these average locks is that we think manufacturer care about quality. Most don't and just want to crank locks out for cheap. There's so many of these 6 pin dimple clones that don't bring anything to the table, but for the customer it's "high sec"cause of the flat reversible key.... 🤦‍♂️

@@froggypicker I completely agree. I see the same mindset in my own line of work which is IT Support. There are many businesses and individuals who make grandiose claims about security and performance, but once you peel away the upper layers of marketing gloss, what lies below is often average or worse.
