- I've modified Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 (a.k.a MSFFB2) to fly DCS UH-1H. You can see how the force trim works in DCS.
- Power Up (double current) MOD

- 80mm USB Cooling Fan inside
- New Casing (easy mount, bigger inside space for cooling)
- New Grip (from TM TopGun) / Extension
- USB hub attached
Good job mate! I was looking for ideas and found your video. Might have to put that warthog stick back in the cupboard! ;)
I would love to do this as well any chance you could provide a parts list of the other things you purchased besides the Sidewinder? I’d greatly appreciate it and nice work this is exactly what I’ve been dreaming of doing for ages
absolutely badass!
Great stuff, bro.
Thanks!
I have the ffb 2 and loved it. I got it when it on day one release and still have it. I would love to do this with my warthog stick. How much did it cost to mod it?
Hi, sorry for the late answer. Around 100 USD, including FFB2 itself. If you want to use the warthog grip for this, I wouldn't recommend it because it's too heavy.
I modded the zoom slider on the WH throttle to be the collective. A couple bolts, aluminum baluster, and a generic PS3 controller.
Do you have a list of what to buy if I want to do the same?
Are there no problems with the Force deadzone on the Sidewinder with an extension that long?
I think that SWFFB2 has fairly small deadzone for a mass produced FFB joystick. It’s not a big problem even with that long extension.
But recently I’ve reduced the length to increase torque and to fit my home cockpit.
@@horus_simgadgets hmmm. Mine and all of the ones my DCS friends have all have a significant deadzone/Slop zone in the centre.
@@d_b_7819 Of course It does have a deadzone, like other FFB sticks do. I'd just say that SWFFB2's deadzone is relatively smaller than others, but you could feel it 'significant'. In the choppers(my prior modules), it's not that big deal because the stick should be off-center most of the flight time. That's how the choppers fly.
@@horus_simgadgets Ah I see what you mean. I mostly use it for flying warbirds, and while its immensely better than non FFB sticks for that, the deadzone is much larger than on a Warthog for example. Makes gunnery interesting sometimes....
someone did a mod with a belt drive that removed almost all of the slop
RBR, are you on Discord by chance? I had some questions on this.
How does the power-up affect the PSU and PCB? Would suck if you only have a couple of MSFFB2's and everyone buys up everyone else and youre sitting there blowing up both of yours.
Mine is still fine. No serious over voltage or heat problem, for now. But I'm not sure about the durability so if you wanna do this MOD, do it at your own risk.
@@horus_simgadgets the link is dead. Is there any alternative link?
@@er1cw Hey, check the description updated!
@@horus_simgadgets thx buddy!
Are you still using your VKB Gunfighter? It says a lot that you're hacking something together from a 15 year old joystick.
Yes, I'm using the Gunfighter for some jet fighters.
lol can i pay u to make one more?
