I agree 100% Quick question. Are the builds that use the Zimmermans, Songbirds and Stun Needle Launchers still viable after the balance patch/update? Fortunately, the Hu Ben Gatling guns escaped unscathed and were not nerfed!
i prefer the infinite melee of the plasma thrower and the pile bunker. most of these builds also lack small unit killing things and will really drive up your ammo costs making S ranks much harder to get. i made this build (9QWAA3DRLMRU if anyone's interested) with a single long range weapon that charges SUPER faster (you can actually charge while attacking with the plasma thrower), and any explosive on the right that strikes your fancy (songbirds if you have trouble hitting small targets, earshot if you want that direct hit adjustment, etc) and the left hold a pile bunker which is the most flex slot of the build... it can constant melee with the plasma thrower just by pressing L2, L2, L1 hold L2, L1 repeating infinitely, work in charged harris shots at your leisure. while not a true combo it absolutely wrecks LCs if your timing is good, and dumpsters anything large and/or slow but aside from that the pile bunker is useless, so switch on any mission where there are few large or tough targets for any kind of missle launch and youll speed through those S ranks. this build has fantastic pretty much everything (especially vertical lift and sustain) except quick boosts (which are genuinely terrible). i will still switch to a build like this if there is a boss that absolutely NEEDS to die as fast as possible, but if you have a whole level to go though, this build will take you through it with the minimum amount of ammo management (the harris has 360 rounds... i dare you to find a mission where you can spend them all). if you need good quickboosts (like against ibis or ayre) id recommend a preemptive booster swap. but otherwise i think this build is one of the few that can S rank almost every mission in the game with minimal changes
Mmm not really PvE builds but rather Boss builds. Zimmies are great sure but don't have a lot of ammo. Same with Needle launcher. Weapons like the Linear or Plasma rifles are much more versatile and ammo/damage/range efficient if we talk about facing most instances during missions, imo. Still glad to see some more focus for PvE. As if PvP was more nuanced than dual wielding the most impact dealing weapons.
I've run most missions with double stun and zim/majestic without issue. ones that might be an issue have a point where you can restock. You can use thrust kick on trash and if you run out of ammo your punch is fine for things. Bigger concern is these builds were significantly nerfed the day before this video was posted.

I'd rather have 1 or 2 weapons mainly for mindless clearing the trash or chipping at ac/boss health and a couple heavy hitting tools like the earshot. It's huge AoE is great for clearing group of mobs as much as to punish staggered enemies. Most nerfed stuff is still the best option in its cathegory so I don't see much of an issue but rather a needed fix.
It depends on the mission itself, S rankings are about optimizing. I can see scenarios where they might work and others where they won't. You can start a mission with a build, and optimize from there depending on what you need.
zims nerf not that significant, i tested and still op. the power of dobel zim songbird is u can mount them both and get ac 340++ speed. light ac with high dmg output

The builds are 100% unaffected by the nerf in PvE. Like Martin said, ammo is never an issue, I am always running zimmers or hubens in missions.
Are these builds really time/ammo efficient tho? That's the important part of S ranking missions
It depends on the mission itself, S rankings are about optimizing. I can see scenarios where they might work and others where they won't. You can start a mission with a build, and optimize from there depending on what you need.
They nerfed AP applied to certain pieces since this video was released. I put each piece and have nearly 2000 less AP
These are great, have you tried 2 songbirds and 2 energy launchers?
Song birds need to be close to get that big stagger. Stun needle launcher goes a little further.

The nerfs did not affect any of the builds in PvE including the Zimmermans, Bing Chilling 🍦
You'll feel the nerfs more on pvp due how stagger mechanics changed
