My golf buddy and I flew out to Vegas in November to get a private lesson with Paul. He spent almost 4 hours with us in what was planned to be a 2 hour lesson. Not only is he a great guy but his theory on the golf swing is truly a game changer. Highly recommend an in person lesson! Thank you Paul
Great to hear from you. Yes, that was a fun day. Glad you are doing well. Thanks for your kind words and support. Yes, private lessons certainly clarify what you need to be working on. Keep up the god work.
People do seem to have a good time when they are here. For those followers who kind of know my stuff I clarify exactly what you need to be working, how to fix your own swing and cure slices if the person is a slicer. If you can make it here let me know. I usually take the hot summer an cold winter off now.
@@paulwilsongolf I'm a 30+ year golfer who has always "cast" the club. As I've gotten older I've lost distance. I suffer from dead pulls a lot. This video makes so much sense I can't wait to go work on trying it. I've tried all kinds of methods to build lag and never had much success. Again, making the hips and legs make that first move makes so much sense. Some day I plan to schedule a lesson. Thanks.
Casting and pulls is you hitting with your arms. What if I could give you perfect lag in 2 minutes? Well, I can. Watch: ruclips.net/video/syZXIyJNH-Y/видео.html To get rid of the pulls turn the arms off and start your body first. Boom dead straight this is 2 more minutes. No joke.
Hi Paul, you have helped me so much with your videos and I just discovered this one and as a one armed golfer - it is my favorite golf tip video of all time! Thank you !!!😃
Glad you liked it. Thanks so much. Golfers with one arm can still hit the ball great. Just need to get used to it and trust that the body will swing the mass (club) just fine. There is trust that cones with that but if you see it more like a weight on a string it's easy to visualize how it can be done. Just don't try to help it. Allow it to swing as I show in this tip.
Paul, You have outdone yourself with this lesson (GOLF TRANSITION). So many parts of your swing concept are encapsulated in this one video. I continue to use your method & continue to improve. My only negative is that at 73 I wish I could have been introduced to your teachings 50 years ago! Keep it up, you're helping a lot of people, including me!
Well thanks. I am giving the answers in all of my tips. It's up to people to hear them. This latest one was big though. Glad you are doing well and getter better. I wasn't teaching 50 years ago but 30. Too bad you didn't find me. I have heard that one many many times before. I will keep posting more into the future. One day I see people not trying to hit with the arms but I have to make enough people get better that they tell everyone.
@@paulwilsongolf Well Paul, I certainly enjoyed the lesson with you last Memorial Day and the videos are a nice supplement. I’m in Scottsdale to play with my Oklahoma buddies this week and just finished playing Rancho Manana in Cave Creek and just shot a 79!
Great to hear from you. I just noticed I hadn't responded to some past comments. Nice one. Breaking 80 is a great feeling. This should change your goals and give you something new to shoot for this year. I see an 6-8hdcp being easily doable. Keep up the good work.
From 1:56 to 2:17 is the miracle of Paul Wilson. He taught me this five or so years ago and has vastly improved my golf game. No one had ever told me that before (and I had lessons!). Keep hammerin', Paul!
Cant thank you enough Paul.. I have been practicing the effortless swing for over year and half .. I now can hit the ball longer and straighter consistently. My overall game has improved and now enjoy it more than ever before. You made golf less complicated for me..
Since I have watched this utube, I have changed my golf swing following Paul Wilson's instruction. It looks very comfortable and relaxed for my body. I feel this swing requires using spine and leg muscle more. At the first time I felt tired using more spine but now I feel getting used to it. Thank you for your teaching. Now here in Thailand.
Love this. So many instructors teach you to “pump” and other arm movements to help shallow but then you turn the arms on and bad things come from it. Once again, your simple approach is the way!!
Paul got the remedy!! My guy is 75 years in the making, thank you! Going to visit my buddy in Henderson soon looking forward to playing bears bass. Hopefully I run into you Paul. God bless!
Great. Glad you are doing well. I will not be at the course until the end of Feb right now. Let me know when you are here and I will let you know if I'm out there.
Thank you Paul, I feel your demonstration in this lesson perfectly illustrated how to fix this problem. I can’t wait till the weekend to work on this tip. I’ve improved a lot already with my spaghetti arms. I enjoy all you tips .thanks from England for all your good work.
I would think if your arms are super loosen and you've been working on that you would probably get the shallowing too. It's just simple physics of mass swinging around and axis. You've got this. I was born in Yorkshire near Hull. I was 14 last time I went back.
Thanks Paul...I just watched your older Swing Machine dvd's, and I'm happy to see that you haven't strayed from your original teachings, and fundamentals. I've been hitting pretty well, just concentrating on knee touching, and club finishing behind head.
Yeah, I would never stray. There results I get are too good to teach anything else. Been teaching the same thing for 30 years now. I have checked out pretty much everything else out there. As I said, I will keep doing what I do. Just have to follow it. Glad to have you on board.
@@paulwilsongolf Hi Paul, I've been trying this, but seem to hit behind the ball about once every 4 shots, and occasionally, a real nasty one out on the toe. Am I firing the lower body too fast ? And, I suspect with a little too much rearward lean. Thanks for the posts..they have helped a lot so far..
If you're hitting behind it you need to watch this: ruclips.net/video/UwynwFBldv4/видео.html The toed shots are you coming out of it. Trying to swing too hard and trying to see the result before you've done it. Follow this: ruclips.net/video/X_pF7x-OCXU/видео.html
Thanks so much. Simple is the key for sure. I used to make it complicated when I was working on it years ago. This got me nowhere. The day I made it simple was like a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders. Then I started teaching and from lesson 1 I always thought "fast and easy." This is why i keep things simple. Watch this first: ruclips.net/video/fuOJxv_22Hk/видео.html Then master this drill. If you do you cannot be hitting. Get used to it then increase legs drive for more power: ruclips.net/video/cVhtL-d1B9Y/видео.html
I actually do care about people getting this stuff yet of course people bash me for it. I guess they want to you to be a monotone robot these days. Well, that's not me. I will just keep doing what I do. Thanks.
I am so thankful I ran across your video the other day that dealt with using the question mark with the thumb and pointer finger on the right hand. I was rotating my body properly but I had those two fingers in the wrong position causing my wrist not to hinge. Just left the range and after about ten balls it all started to click with the grip and extending my arms out properly to help ensure the club face was square at impact. Thanks again and I just subscribed to your channel because I like how you break everything down to keep it simple.
Thanks for finding me. I appreciate the support. The question mark is huge for your grip so you can set the club properly. Just that alone can make the world of difference as you now see. Sounds like you are figuring it out. Keep up the good work.
I've watched many of your videos. I've always turned but I would also swing with my arms to gain speed. When I relaxed my arms and loosened my grip was when the light came on. I've had people on the course say how do you hit it that far without really swinging that hard. I tell them to watch your videos on the effortless swing. I think the most important thing is the loose wrist and arms. I'm now a 7 handicap on two amateur golf tours. Thank you.
This is what I used to do too. This was the breakthrough for me and why I teach it. I went from sideways to dead straight as you did too. Yes, a vital part is the loose wrists because this is going to give you the speed. Then of course you need to turn your body because the arms are attached to it. Another area is at and through impact. For me, I imagine the clubhead is like a block of steel swinging on a slight arc. In no way do I try to twist or move it. I allow it to swing wherever it wants. This is just my image but might work for you too. Any twisting (just a few degrees) and you will hit it sideways. So I am very aware of not twisting the face. I let it go. At a 7hdcp you are super close now. Might be just a few things that are not quite right and the short game needs to be amazing. If so, you can get to a 2 hdcp no problem. You need to learn my short game technique. It's incredible.
@@paulwilsongolf my chipping is improving a lot. Thanks to Phil mickelson book the art of the short game. Hinge and hold method. I'm looking forward to next year. My scores were dropping like a rock. Do you use the hinge and hold method for chipping? I tell everyone to watch your videos. If I ever take a trip to Vegas for golf I'll be looking you up for lessons. I'm sure you could fine to my game.
That sounds like pitching to me. Chipping is easy. It's a stroke like putting. Ball back instep. Hands forward. 3-4 knuckle grip. Weight forward. Stroke it like a putt.
Oh man i tried this at the weekend and distance strike and direction all good. Normally high 90’s to low 100’s but last round hit a gross 90. This really works !!!
I wish I’d seen this video yesterday. I was practicing with new irons and found myself hitting a severe pull hook. Now I understand the problem. Thanks.
Yep, hitting with your arms. Stop pulling the club down. Remember this into the future "If your pulling ... your pulling it down." That will always remind you.
Ok .. 3:15 - 4:15 is am amazing concept. Thanks, Paulie. I will try and be more conscious of this at my next driving range session. I am pretty sure I am too steep on back swing and downswing. I almost believe that most amateurs can never (or are rarely likely to) be too shallow.
Glad you liked it. Yes, they are never too shallow. The problem is amateurs keep hitting with the arms. Need to turn them off and everything falls into place.
Awesome lesson! Thanks for these tips. As i get older (and a bit chubbier) my arms have sort of taken over. Now i know exactly what I’ve been doing wrong , slicing by coming over the top. Thanks Paul. Keep you posted. 🤞🏻
Glad you like them. Thanks. Slicing is so easy to fix. It usually takes me no more than 10 mins. If longer then I have a slow learner. Watch me in action here. I'm not promoting it just showing you a page where I show what I can do: www.paulwilsongolf.com/cure-slice 2 videos on the page. Second one is really cool.
Well, all you have to do is start the body first. Simple physics. Me showing it with one hand illustrates it. You need to obviously do it with 2 hands. Just don't pull the club down. See how it's going to work then initiate with the lower body knowing the arms will follow and shallow the club. I have gotten people to hit it dead straight from square for 33 years now never telling them to drop the club etc. with the arms. If the body moves first you will hit it dead straight.
Paul's videos help me "self coach"..instead of reverting back to my arm swing, when I'm playing poorly, I focus on the hip turn and, the rest follows...including swing speed!
Very good. Isn't this the whole point of taking lessons and/or learning someone's technique. You need to do it on your own. I have always thought like this because when I took lessons I had no idea if I was doing it right a few days later. This means I was wasting time potentially practicing the wrong thing until I had another lesson. My technique gives you feedback and checkpoints so you know you are doing it 100% right without me. Who else is going to say this?
Another superb video, simply demonstrated. I'm new to this wonderful game and of the many videos available on RUclips I've found yours the best in explanation and demonstration
Great content. I have practiced with consciously dropping the club, but I have found it quite hard to do at normal speed and also to get the right “amount” of drop. Normally, when I increase my speed I revert back to over the top.
Glad you like it. Thanks. Yes, the dropping although is fine when doing a slow easy drill you don't have enough time at top speed. .25 seconds from the top to impact. As soon as you think drop you have already hit the ball. Just use simple physics. Works every time.
If I get it anyone can get it. This is just so unbelievably simple yet people want to make it complicated. For 30 years of teaching I've always thought fast and easy. This is why I say things the way I say them.
@@paulwilsongolf its a strange feeling when the club in my hand and the ball is there, but I can not use my arms, hands and wrist... need to practise a lot.😅
It sure is which is why people find it hard to do it. Keep in mind you are switching power sources. You are hitting with the legs and hips not the hands and arms. So for me, I am putting a lot of legs into it. So stay focused and stay loose. Get this then increase the legs for more power. You need to master this first: ruclips.net/video/cVhtL-d1B9Y/видео.html
Another great video Paul. Being naturally right handed but picking up the game of golf swinging left-handed as I did all sports I have a beautiful golf swing swinging only with my right hand it seems to drop inside naturally generated by a natural body turn once I put my left hand on the club it’s all over.
Glad you liked it. Thanks. I love righties playing left. I think we should all be doing that. You are who this tip is for. So try it with one hand then put the other on and don't influence it with this hand.
Another great video Paul. I live in Australia and will be visiting Vegas in May. I want to visit Bear’s Best while I am there. It would be great to meet you.
I have never subscribed to anyone on RUclips. You are the only person or golf instructor that I have done it for. I have watched hundreds of videos and taken many classes. No one explains things as simply as you do. All your videos reinforce the same concepts. Your principles resonate with me. I am starting to see results on the range. Incredible ball flight! I am still not consistent but I am working on it. Question: I notice you have a more upright backstroke. Does this swing (turning off the upper body) work with a flatter backswing (one that ends up with the hands more behind the shoulder). I ask because the club feels a little heavier with a flatter backstroke so I was worried it makes me tighten my hands a little. I have been taught to have a flatter backstroke since I have a tendency to come in a little steep. Thanks for everything! Looking forward to your next video!
Thanks so much. I appreciate the support. My whole thought for 30 years is that it has to be fast and it has to be easy which is why I say things as I say them. Others can keep making it complicated. If people don't understand it they will never do it so eventually they will find me. I just see it differently and know my audience. Glad you're with me. As far as the backswing is concerned, I like the lead arm slightly about the shoulder plane at the top. This isn't crazy upright just a little. A more up right position is where the best players of all time where. I don't really like the flatter position. If you cam to see me I would be getting it up higher (ever seen a long driver with a flat swing?) I like the person to fee the can drop a grapefruit from the back armpit. If so, that is the amount out upright I like. You say it feel heavy. This is the feeling I want so keep this feeling as you swing the club. ruclips.net/video/iNKIMiv8jng/видео.html So decide if you want it a little more upright and definitely keep the heavy feeling as you swing the club.
I'm wondering when you start your body first are you rotating left hip back or belt buckle around to target? Thank you sir for taking the time to share your knowledge in all of your videos.
Hey Paul - As you may recall I'm learning your system (no balls hit!) during these winter months in the northeast. Correct me if I'm wrong, but your lesson check points, for the most part, will place the club into this shallow plane position, yes? Don't want to use the term "automatically" because we need to be aware of it as we practice. At least that's what I've gleaned between the videos and the written instructions. Thank you!
Glad you are still working on it. I expect big things from you once the season starts. I would still like to do a before and after with you. If interested please contact me at my website: paulwilsongolf.com Yes, the club should be flattening on its own if you are doing The Body Swing.
I wear Ecco street. They don't make those exact ones anymore. I bought 4 pairs a few years ago (1 more left). There are some similar ones on their site. Just search Ecco Street and they will come up.
I was sceptical at first but the massage is simple and easy to execute. Also it works. Now I’m not trying to think of 14 things while on the tee. At last I’m hitting straight and further! I was lucky to get 200yds some of the time, now I’m hitting 215yds most of the time and sometimes over 230yds straight! I think with further practice even further. To be honest I’m not bothered by further, they are straight!
Glad you are seeing improvement. No need to be skeptical. I've been teaching the same thing since 1991 and get amazing results (as seen in the comments below my tips). Simple is the key for sure. Thinking of too much will get you nothing. Been there myself. Once I made it simple I got it. This is why I say things as I say them. Keep up the good work. Watch this one: ruclips.net/video/utFggMFjtng/видео.html
Hi Paul you are the “only one”for the way you explain..Thank you!!I have a question:when i used short irons can i used the body the same way that you suggested for the driver?I mean should i keep my weight on the front foot or from the back to the front foot during the swing?
Why would you keep your weight on the front foot. That is going to cause pulls. You are moving the same with all clubs. The longer the club the more/faster you would do it. Here is how to uncoil with shorter clubs: ruclips.net/video/BZD0_jPL8ks/видео.html
@@paulwilsongolf Thank you Paul,I played many Master(over 70)Guy in Italy,I see them adapting their body limits to the swing motion and then it’s the right timing for me to suggest your wonderful videos!!
Most of my students are over 65 so I consistently work with seniors. The main problem is they keep hitting with arms. As we get older we get weaker so hitting will never get you more than 200 yards. If any of my students can break 90 mph it's a miracle yet I can do nothing and get it to 100mph. 110 take a lot more effort but if I can do nothing and get to 100mph than anyone can do it. Just see it differently. I am not hitting. My wrists are super-loose and I coil and uncoil my body. If you can stick to that concept you can easily play this game forever.
Great video...What do you make of the Ben Hogan move "supination" or bowing of the wrist, dropping the shaft inside, and naturally closing the club face? I have trouble with supination.
Thanks so much. Although this happens in the swing I have never worked on this. Ever. If you work on it you will never be consistent. I say this because how are you going to purposely bow the wrist (which closes the face) within a few degrees (a tick on a clock is 6 degrees) practicing once a week? Just a few degrees off and you will hit it sideways. Plus once you start hooking everything you will hold of the release and lock your wrists. This bowing happens on its own if your wrists are loose because impact is not the widest point of the arc. This is due to having more tilt at impact than at setup with your body. I explain it here: ruclips.net/video/BzBgiUhyrB4/видео.html At impact there is an angle between your lead arm and the club. This means it is not the widest point of the arc. This is why I don't care about impact. I care about a point after impact where both arms are fully extended. 2 feet after with irons 3 feet with driver. You can see what I mean here: ruclips.net/video/jEWe9Gaoqxo/видео.html So before you drive yourself any crazier than you already have stop working on this immediately. Work on a secure grip with super loose wrists. Use your body to power the swing. If so, you will get supination.
@@paulwilsongolf thank you for the detailed response. Your passion for teaching this great game, and helping people is plain to see. Keep doing what you're doing, and God bless 🙏
Paul, when I first started, I use to hit at that ball so hard. I'd top the hell out of it or line drive them so hard to the left. I even hit a college dorm building so hard. Thing must have gone 200 mph, lol. Your videos have aided in changing my game. You couldn't be more accurate with the body leading and arms following. When you hit dead center easy... 240-260 no problem. That ball is still coming down from Mars 🤣🤣🤣
Yes, you have come a long way. So glad you did. Great feeling when you are down the middle all day long. Game is easy then. Like I said before, keep doing what you are doing and get confident then you will start putting more into it. Got to build the trust.

Well, if it is the tour you are after we need to be doing regular video coaching or come to Vegas and work with me live for a few hours so you know exactly what I am looking for then video into the future. I will warn you right now you need to be at least a +5 or +6 at a great course to even have a shot. Plus, it's looking like you need to fly it around 300yards to compete. Paul, I follow your channel and I really like your approach with a pain free effortless swing. And doing my best to implement it and had a couple of aha-moments. Promising! I hope you can explain one thing where the message seems to differ a bit. Some people, for example, Padriag Harrington says (in his swing tip about speed) that ”70% of the speed comes from the last lever, you have to be active with your wrists. You gotta be swinging your arms fast, turning is not going to be that important for the weekend warrior. Your body should respond to what your hands and arms are doing, not the other way around.” I see the same message from some other people out there as well. I can partly understand this because when I throw a ball, my body does just that, it supports my throwing arm perfectly, opening my hips etc. But this is not happening in the same way when I do a golf swing. So, I would appreciate if you can explain these mixed messages. It does not make sense that professionals are saying very different things regarding who should be in charge: body vs arms/hands.Thanks.
Glad you found me. Just need to make a few simple changes and get used to new feelings. Once you do, you will have it. Yes, the power comes from this hinging and rehinging action. It has to be connected to a rotating center though. Ahh the old move your arms and your body will react as it does in other sports. Golf is not like other sports. It is the only game with a stationary object. What who say this are forgetting is that human nature will tell you to hit the object sitting in front of you. Your arms move faster than your body. So in the .25 seconds from the top to the ball you will move your arms not your body and end up flat footed at impact. I did a whole tip on this here: ruclips.net/video/SgZ94B93w4o/видео.html Then understand why you need to move your body first here: ruclips.net/video/cogyf6UjH7U/видео.html Once you watch those two it should become crystal clear than you need to move your body first. Get that, and you will be doing what pros do. Harrington should know better. This has been proven time and time again for years.
@@paulwilsongolf Good point! I’ll dig in to those videos. The aha-moment I mentioned was exactly about what you are teaching. Effortless body swings on the course and the ball launched as a rocket. Very strange feeling 😊👍
I'm practicing in my garage on a mat with a net so I don't have any way to judge distance or direction but I came across this interesting question. Is the sensation one feels at the moment one initiates the downswing (at the point when one feels the club shallow), should it also feel like the club is getting "left behind" so to speak? If so, is there ever any scenario when/where the club could get "too far behind" in a position that might then promote an open face at impact?
Paul, great vid! Do you think this is a particular problem with the right hand? Basically, I was thinking having a looser right hand would be easier than both hands loose.
Well, it's not a looser hand. It's not hitting or helping the shot with the hands and arms. Watch: ruclips.net/video/Z8K3Gctkz7A/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/GQmsOE7dRXs/видео.html
Hey Paul, as an over the top, outside in swinger, I’m working on getting my body to adjust to inside out. It is a challenge but I’m slowly making progress. One thing I am seeing is that even when I do get the swing path, the ball still has right spin. Is this because I’m not firing the wrists right? Thanks much!
Glad you are working on it. You need to get the spin first. Yes, you are not getting it because your wrists are not working. So get this first. When people try to work on it though they want perfect right out of the gate. I want people to overdo it. Get it hooking. See this as half right (spin). Once you can hook 10 in a row you switch to firing your body to straighten it out (direction). So start with this: ruclips.net/video/M868QsTlGt4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/p4vASmOzkPg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/N-nGM6yN790/видео.html ruclips.net/video/yHEv7G9Z5-0/видео.html Once you can do that switch to this (easy way): ruclips.net/video/RdphthCQ9VM/видео.html This is what and how I teach all students. This is literally no more than 30mins (because I would be working on their grip and set up too) from sideways to dead straight or slight draw. Just follow those steps.
I wear the shoes I wear so I don't look like an idiot at the grocery store. I leave the course, get groceries and go home all without having to change my shoes.
Been two years and still haven’t felt the feeling of turning off my arms lol. But the best thing I’ve don’t is lean back instead of forward but I do hit behind the ball about half the time . Even when I raise the heel. I’ve just come to live with it lol.
You can raise the heel and still hit it fat if you don't get the weight to the left foot. So get the weight to the left foot with the heel up. To get the feeling of turning the arms of master this drill: ruclips.net/video/cVhtL-d1B9Y/видео.html Keep doing it until you are good at it. People are impatient so they don't stick with it. Once you can do it you are not hitting. So fire the lower for more power.
Great video Paul. What is your view about the advice to ”not open your shoulders too early in the downswing”. I see this a lot. I get what it is supposed to help with but at the same time it feels like some kind of unnatural thing to be thinking of.
In no way am I thinking about the shoulders in the downswing. I coil from the top and uncoil from the bottom. Your body is like a spring. If you coil it then uncoil the upper would uncoil on its own. You need to build the coil first though so you are set. ruclips.net/video/TmjVMTzGRrU/видео.html
@@paulwilsongolf Thanks Paul, the link you sent is a video about that it is a good idea to move your head. Don’t know if this was the intended video but it also made sense.
Might have been the wrong one. You are moving your head as you coil back. Here is an old tip from my other channel. This should help you understand it better: ruclips.net/video/dkK7F20_0go/видео.html
I'm a guy who hits driver on average 300-320, 350 if I really catch it good. Just before I take the club back I tell myself "200 yards, 200 yards, 200 yards". This gets me thinking about a nice smooth swing. I'll hit the fairway about 70% with 300-320 yard drive average ... I can't complain.
Now that's a great thought. If you are thinking that why would you try to wail at it as hard as you can. So many people could benefit from just swinging easier and loosening up no matter how they do it. It's like fighting an uphill battle though. I will just keep doing what I do an maybe someday everyone will be doing it.
Hi Paul I've been trying to keep my head behind the ball but now I am hitting blocks. They start right but fly straight. So at least it's not a push fade. But what can I do to start the ball more on line?
The blocks are pushes. So you need to decide where you want to hit the ball. You see you have the path attacking from the inside. This is half right. Your body is working. Your wrists are too tight though. So you need to roll your wrists over from the top as soon as you start down. You need to hit 10 hooks in a row. This will increase the timing in your release. Once you do this you go back thinking of the leg drive as you were. If so, you will be hitting it dead straight or with about a 3 yard draw. This should take no longer than 10mins. or less. Watch this to see how the face rolls: ruclips.net/video/OFJOLBSXSfQ/видео.html Then roll it from the top and get it consistently hooking: ruclips.net/video/8ro_1NYPd8c/видео.html ruclips.net/video/GnQ2FfdQBDo/видео.html Hook 10 in a row then add body to straighten it back out. Pretty sure I mention your situation in this tip: ruclips.net/video/BzBgiUhyrB4/видео.html Let me know how you do.
Well, there is no standard for teaching golf. Everyone has different theories and ideas about it. For 30 years I have thought "fast and easy." It has to be fast. It has to be easy otherwise you will never do it or get it. I have also thought that it needs to be memorable because you need to do it on your own. That's the whole point. You need to do this without me. Glad you found me and are doing well. Hope others do too.
So the face is open. This means you are not allowing it to rehinge. In other words with driver you are trying to hit it too hard and tightening your wrists. See the wrists as a hinge. They hinge ... they rehinge. Hopefully, you are doing my neutral grip. Then do this drill and watch the face: ruclips.net/video/OFJOLBSXSfQ/видео.html Then roll it from the top and get it consistently hooking (this is step 1): ruclips.net/video/8ro_1NYPd8c/видео.html ruclips.net/video/GnQ2FfdQBDo/видео.html Once you can consistently hook it you start to add body to straighten it out (step 2). To do that, you can use this trigger: ruclips.net/video/RdphthCQ9VM/видео.html So simple. Watch how fast I can cure slicers in the 2 video on this page. If interested, you can pick up my cure your slice video: www.paulwilsongolf.com/cure-slice
I think what I've been doing wrong is trying to unwind the shoulders at the same time as the hips. I started coming over the top and shanking it. I'm trying to turn the upper body off as well as the arms. It's hard but I am so sick of shanking it that I'm going to persevere. I shank it even when I try to go more circular in my swing arc as opposed to just up and down.
Yes, that is totally unnecessary. If you fire the lower the shoulders will uncoil on their own. Just like the commenter above. Do this drill until you have it mastered: ruclips.net/video/cVhtL-d1B9Y/видео.html Once you do fire the lower for more power.
Hello Paul, if I understand correctly, you remain passive during the ascent, a little before descending you start to turn your hips, arms still passive and at about 8 o'clock, you accelerate with your hands until 4 o'clock finishing in front of the target! Is this correct?
I am setting the club going back. I have done it a long time so it pretty much goes there on its own. Others would have to work on setting the club which would mean they would feel the arms. From the top I am turn the hips with zero pulling down of the club. I then keep turning with zero hitting of the ball. In no way am I accelerating the arms. Powerless arms means powerless arms. For years I would try to accelerate the arms just before hitting the ball. I used to hit it sideways. The day I stopped hitting was the day I hit it dead straight. For me it's about hitting fairways and greens. After watching Bryson I fell down the distance rabbit hole. Last year was the worst I hit the ball since 1999 (the year I turned my arms off). So if you are watching my tips then turn your arms completely off and power it with your body. For more power you would turn your body faster and loosen your wrists. If you want to keep hitting then realize I will not be trying to get you doing that. Up to you.
I do it a little too (especially with driver). I have worked on it but still do it. I probably hit 80% - 90% fairways so is that really going to make any difference to my game? Plus, when I have worked on it I get this tilted swing which hurts my back. I have tried many different things to fix it but no I don't care about it (there are tons of old school pros who do this too). You can work on this position: ruclips.net/video/X_pF7x-OCXU/видео.html Another fix that helped me is to make sure the left cheek is turning at impact. So set up a camera and turn your hips making sure you see this cheek at impact. Not a sliver of it. You need to see a lot of it from down the line. Try this but really I would be working on this if you already have a half decent swing. If your swing needs work, there are more important things to be working on. Get the swing meaning: loose hinge and rehinge, powering the swing with the lower body with the arms turned off. Maintaining spine angle.
Thanks for your interest in lessons. I am just getting rolling starting on Sunday. Please contact us through my website here: paulwilsongolf.com and we can give you more info. Thanks again.
It sure is. I try to explain this to people. It is the looseness of the wrists connected to the rotating body that gives you serious power with minimal effort. In the tip below I was literally putting nothing into it yet when people come to me for lessons they swing out of their shoes. If the average person can break 90mph it is a miracle yet I can do nothing and get it to 100mph. Then I put more body into it and get it to 110mph. So if I can do nothing and get more then maybe that is the way people should be learning. ruclips.net/video/O9jr3G1FF6M/видео.html
The firing of the hips is not causing it. It is you firing and trying to hit which leans you left in the downswing. Lean left and you will swing left. So fire the lower with the arms turned off. If you need to tilt your body back then do so. If your spine tilts back you will swing out at it. “ you can not move your body without your arms “ Paul you unveiled the biggest secret of golf, most instructors trying use as complicated words as they can to drag their lessons long enough until you go to others 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Finally someone who sees the the secret. I said this in my a tip I recently posted and no one keyed in on it. Just move your body and don't hit at the ball. This is a huge key that I am trying to get out there. One day everyone will do it. I will probably be dead though.
I've had a number of lessons as a beginner golfer and no-one is telling me this stuff and, yes, I'm still slicing it on a regular basis. Looks like a $97 investment in your Body Swing course would be a good investment.
Could fix you in 5 -10 mins. If you're a slow learner 15 mins. Watch me do it on the 2 videos on this page (this stuff is in the body swing so you don't need to buy it): www.paulwilsongolf.com/cure-slice
That is because of human nature plus the fact that you don't know the precise positions you need to hit in your golf swing so you can think about hitting them instead of the ball. Think about it. You are looking at an object. Human nature is telling you to hit the object. This means you are making the ball point B to your swing. I am thinking about setting my club point A (backswing) then I swing to point B (follow through). The ball is hit when I do that. I explain it in this the tip below. In The Body Swing I teach precise positions that you need to do. Get them and you look like a pro when you swing. ruclips.net/video/gIp4ifKuZIw/видео.html
Yeah, why would you even think of doing it. I remember trying that when I was about 17. Didn't work. I've tried it all ... literally. This is why I teach what I teach. It's been tested for literally 30 years on my students. Coin from the top ... uncoil from the bottom. Remember that and say it to yourself as you hit balls.
I was around. Just moved to the US at that point. I would have fixed your slice in under 10 mins. Watch me do it here (2 videos on the page so scroll down): www.paulwilsongolf.com/cure-slice You don't have to buy it (just showing you a page with the videos on it)
I accept everything you say but I have a question. A guy like DeChambeau who is totally ripped and pumped up. HowDoes he turn off his arms? Is he a biological freak to be able to hit it so far?
He doesn't. He is using body and arms. Most pros do. I like no arms. When I turn them off completely I hit it dead straight. Any pro with a fast looking swing is using arms and body. Anyone with a slow looking swing is less to no arms. Most average players are mostly arms with no body. That is the difference. Just depends what you are going for. Bryson is distance. He is putting everything into it. He should really back it off to around 320. What they don't realize is the the longer you go the less room for error you have. So under pressure you will lose it. From day 1 I have said that Bryson will never dominate hitting it that long and as you can see he isn't.
I would love a lesson with Paul, I’m so envious, good luck .
Watch:
ruclips.net/video/syZXIyJNH-Y/видео.html
To get rid of the pulls turn the arms off and start your body first. Boom dead straight this is 2 more minutes. No joke.
Best teacher on RUclips. I now do a powerless swing and gained yards because of the better contact.
Thanks so much. I appreciate the support. Glad you are doing well. I love hearing it.
This guy is just the best I’ve seen on the internet. All of his vids reinforce the same principles and THEY WORK!
Thanks so much. I appreciate the support.
Paul Wilson is the best. Other teachers and instructors confuse me but when I watch Paul’s videos I hit great. Thank you.
Thanks so much. Glad you are doing well. Simple is the key for sure.
From 1:56 to 2:17 is the miracle of Paul Wilson. He taught me this five or so years ago and has vastly improved my golf game. No one had ever told me that before (and I had lessons!). Keep hammerin', Paul!
If they only knew how big this move is. I try to tell everyone. Just hope they're listening.
After seeing your video I've had my first Hole in one in 42 years. You're a genius in the way you delivered your message. Love your work Paul.
Great job! Great feeling when you get one that's for sure. Thanks for the support. Let's get another one.
BEST GOLF TEACHER IN THE WORLD - THANK YOU PAUL!
Thank you for your support. I appreciate it.
Cant thank you enough Paul.. I have been practicing the effortless swing for over year and half .. I now can hit the ball longer and straighter consistently. My overall game has improved and now enjoy it more than ever before. You made golf less complicated for me..
That's great. Glad you stuck with it and are getting the pay off. You will have this swing for life which is a great feeling.
This man is a genius. Thank you.
Thanks for the support. I appreciate it.
Hey Paul , another great lesson, and very pleasant to listen to you
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks.
Glad you are doing well. Comfortable and relaxed. I like it. Keep up the good work.
Love this. So many instructors teach you to “pump” and other arm movements to help shallow but then you turn the arms on and bad things come from it. Once again, your simple approach is the way!!
Yeah this has been around a while. Simple is the key for sure.
If you're hitting behind it you need to watch this:
ruclips.net/video/UwynwFBldv4/видео.html
The toed shots are you coming out of it. Trying to swing too hard and trying to see the result before you've done it. Follow this:

Love your lessons Paul. Always make sense for simplifying the golf swing. It’s so difficult to get away from the hit mentality but I’ll keep trying.
Watch this first:
ruclips.net/video/fuOJxv_22Hk/видео.html
Then master this drill. If you do you cannot be hitting. Get used to it then increase legs drive for more power:

Paul, I love your enthusiasm. Nice video. Thank you.
I actually do care about people getting this stuff yet of course people bash me for it. I guess they want to you to be a monotone robot these days. Well, that's not me. I will just keep doing what I do. Thanks.
Good to see you back Paul!
I've been around just taking a break. I have posted quite a few new ones over the last couple months. Did you watch them?
Very good. Glad you tried it and are seeing results. Keep at it.
Good to see you back on youtube, another great video Paul
Been posting a few lately. Hopefully you checked them out. Go to the main page and you will see them. ruclips.net/user/paulwilsongolf
Totally understandable about letting the arms follow the body. Thanks.
Understanding it is half the battle. Stay focused.
I'm not promoting it just showing you a page where I show what I can do:
www.paulwilsongolf.com/cure-slice 2 videos on the page. Second one is really cool.
@@paulwilsongolf Brilliant lesson. Now I fully understand the art of shallowing the swing plane. Thanks alot Paul.
Love it. The most entertaining instructor on YT. Thanks, Paul.
Thanks 👍 Just doing what I do.
Great tip with the one handed swing. I need to shallow that club and come more from the inside.
Thanks so much. I just want people to understand it. If you don't get it why would you do it? And people actually bash me for explaining something.
paul wilson is the best.
Thanks for the support. I appreciate it.
Good stuff Mr. Wilson. 👏
Your videos are very helpful. Thank you so much! 👍
Glad you like them! Thank you.
Wow , how well put game changer thank you so much my friend God Bless
Glad you found this one. For sure this is a game changer. Stay focused and have a great 2024 season.

Thanks Prof. Wilson😇
You need to master this first:
ruclips.net/video/cVhtL-d1B9Y/видео.html
Another great video Paul. Being naturally right handed but picking up the game of golf swinging left-handed as I did all sports I have a beautiful golf swing swinging only with my right hand it seems to drop inside naturally generated by a natural body turn once I put my left hand on the club it’s all over.
Glad you liked it. Thanks. I love righties playing left. I think we should all be doing that. You are who this tip is for. So try it with one hand then put the other on and don't influence it with this hand.
Another amazing video!

Another great video Paul. I live in Australia and will be visiting Vegas in May. I want to visit Bear’s Best while I am there. It would be great to meet you.
Thanks so much. Definitely let me know if you are heading out here. I should be here in May. That's the best time of year.
@@paulwilsongolf Hi again Paul, I will be in Vegas between the 13th and 16th May.👍🏌️♂️
That's great. I will be doing a school that weekend at the back of the range. If you come out and see me near the clubhouse come say hi.
This is the feeling I want so keep this feeling as you swing the club. ruclips.net/video/iNKIMiv8jng/видео.html
So decide if you want it a little more upright and definitely keep the heavy feeling as you swing the club.
I'm wondering when you start your body first are you rotating left hip back or belt buckle around to target? Thank you sir for taking the time to share your knowledge in all of your videos.
There are many different triggers I teach. You need to find what works for you. Those are 2 of them.
Awesome !!
Glad you liked it. Thanks.
If interested please contact me at my website: paulwilsongolf.com
Yes, the club should be flattening on its own if you are doing The Body Swing.
I'm curious as to what brand of golf shoes you wear. I appreciate your golf tips.
I wear Ecco street. They don't make those exact ones anymore. I bought 4 pairs a few years ago (1 more left). There are some similar ones on their site. Just search Ecco Street and they will come up.
Great thanks.
You're welcome!
Watch this one:

I explain it here: ruclips.net/video/BzBgiUhyrB4/видео.html
At impact there is an angle between your lead arm and the club. This means it is not the widest point of the arc. This is why I don't care about impact. I care about a point after impact where both arms are fully extended. 2 feet after with irons 3 feet with driver. You can see what I mean here: ruclips.net/video/jEWe9Gaoqxo/видео.html
So before you drive yourself any crazier than you already have stop working on this immediately.
@@paulwilsongolf I've taken all of your hard work and instruction you put together and applied it to my game. Game is getting much easier and more fun as a result. I will keep at it. One day you will see me on the PGA Tour, mark my words. I appreciate you.
I say 320 regularly and you are good to go. So you have work to do.
@@paulwilsongolf I think as I get deeper into this journey and I get a little bit more meat on the bones, I'll fly out to Vegas for a live session. I am very receptive to doing some video coaching as well. I can tell you this... With a fitting, continued persistence and practice, I'll have all of these things in line in no time. I WANT THIS and am very capable!. I'm not sure if you are familiar, but Casperkill Golf Course in Poughkeepsie, NY, I've broken even there several times and it's a decently challenging course. Let me know your thoughts on the live coaching and if you get a chance to take a look at Casperkill.
I did a whole tip on this here: ruclips.net/video/SgZ94B93w4o/видео.html
Then understand why you need to move your body first here:
ruclips.net/video/cogyf6UjH7U/видео.html
Once you watch those two it should become crystal clear than you need to move your body first.
It sure is. Slower means looser which generates more power.
Yes, body first arms follow. Yes, you can do this too fast. Watch:
ruclips.net/video/bLskGy7rulo/видео.html
So start with this:

ruclips.net/video/N-nGM6yN790/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/yHEv7G9Z5-0/видео.html
Once you can do that switch to this (easy way):
ruclips.net/video/RdphthCQ9VM/видео.html
This is what and how I teach all students. This is literally no more than 30mins (because I would be working on their grip and set up too) from sideways to dead straight or slight draw. Just follow those steps.
Question? what you think of golf shoes looks like you always wore regular shoes? is that so they can move so you not hurt yourself
To get the feeling of turning the arms of master this drill:
ruclips.net/video/cVhtL-d1B9Y/видео.html
Keep doing it until you are good at it.
I agree
Glad you see it. Thanks.
This should take no longer than 10mins. or less.
Watch this to see how the face rolls:
ruclips.net/video/OFJOLBSXSfQ/видео.html
Then roll it from the top and get it consistently hooking:
ruclips.net/video/8ro_1NYPd8c/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/GnQ2FfdQBDo/видео.html
Hook 10 in a row then add body to straighten it back out.
Pretty sure I mention your situation in this tip:

Let me know how you do.
What’s the temperature there? In the teens here. Had to build an indoor driving range.
We are 50's and some days low 60's. I was 40's not too long ago. Fine right now.
It’s actually crazy how people pay lots of money for lessons when I’ve improved from watching this channel more than any teacher
I'm hitting a bad slice and no mater what I do it always ends up going right why is this, and do you have any tips or videos for this
So the face is open. This means you are not allowing it to rehinge. In other words with driver you are trying to hit it too hard and tightening your wrists. See the wrists as a hinge. They hinge ... they rehinge. Hopefully, you are doing my neutral grip. Then do this drill and watch the face:
ruclips.net/video/OFJOLBSXSfQ/видео.html
Then roll it from the top and get it consistently hooking (this is step 1):
ruclips.net/video/8ro_1NYPd8c/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/GnQ2FfdQBDo/видео.html
Once you can consistently hook it you start to add body to straighten it out (step 2). To do that, you can use this trigger:
ruclips.net/video/RdphthCQ9VM/видео.html
So simple.
Watch how fast I can cure slicers in the 2 video on this page. If interested, you can pick up my cure your slice video:

@@paulwilsongolf yes that drill is very hard to do but I think I'm making progress.
Up to you.
Paul, when I turn my hips I lose the tush line every time. They go right into the ball. Any tips to fix this?
I do it a little too (especially with driver). I have worked on it but still do it. I probably hit 80% - 90% fairways so is that really going to make any difference to my game? Plus, when I have worked on it I get this tilted swing which hurts my back. I have tried many different things to fix it but no I don't care about it (there are tons of old school pros who do this too).
You can work on this position: ruclips.net/video/X_pF7x-OCXU/видео.html
Another fix that helped me is to make sure the left cheek is turning at impact.
@@paulwilsongolf Thanks Paul. I'll keep working on it. It is generally more with the driver as well. Thanks again!

Truly looks effortless!! And there’s no distance lost? Only gained? Lord, golf is counterintuitive! 😂
I tend to fire my hips fast and arms fast over the top.
The firing of the hips is not causing it. It is you firing and trying to hit which leans you left in the downswing. Lean left and you will swing left. So fire the lower with the arms turned off. If you need to tilt your body back then do so. If your spine tilts back you will swing out at it.

Yeah, if everyone starts doing my stuff I will put a lot of people out of business. Just got to spread the word.
Watch me do it on the 2 videos on this page (this stuff is in the body swing so you don't need to buy it):

I can swing like that with my practice swings but always different when I go to hit the ball... My mind and body goes into a different world..

The thought I like is not using the shoulders in the downswing
Yeah, why would you even think of doing it. I remember trying that when I was about 17. Didn't work. I've tried it all ... literally. This is why I teach what I teach. It's been tested for literally 30 years on my students. Coin from the top ... uncoil from the bottom. Remember that and say it to yourself as you hit balls.
Where were these lessons 20 years ago I wasted so much time slicing
I was around. Just moved to the US at that point. I would have fixed your slice in under 10 mins. Watch me do it here (2 videos on the page so scroll down): www.paulwilsongolf.com/cure-slice You don't have to buy it (just showing you a page with the videos on it)
Would be better if you can add a slow motion and normal motion video of the swing that is flatten.
Some I do some I don't.
I want to see your swing ,not talking. Talk too much .Please show us an action more. Will appreciate it. Thanks.
Yeah ... No. I do everything for a reason. If you don't have patience skip forward in the video. See I even have a simple solution for that.
