For many, Alberta's oil fields provide employment as a truck driver; however, be prepared for the demands and challenges that driving truck in the bush presents.
For overseas drivers you'll need a work visa to drive truck in Canada. For a work permit the you will first need to meet the criteria listed on the Canadian immigration website: www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/app...
If you meet this criteria, then you can proceed with a Work Permit application. As you may or may not be aware, this will involve extensive paperwork and could take a significant amount of time.
Let Smart Drive Test know whether you meet the criteria listed on the immigration website and we'll see how we can help you from there.
    Starting drivers make approximately $40,000/year.

Bill Walker's story is especially inspirational to me. Being a Bay Area resident, I will never have to face the hair-raising challenges of driving in sub-zero temperatures and arctic terrain. Yipes!
With absolutely no equivocation, Bill Walker, you are an inspiration to me. I am a 63 year old woman who needs to get back out there and work for a living. Tomorrow morning, I will be taking my Class B Permit test. I'll be keeping you in mind believing that intelligence, will and determination not to mention strength are assets that we sexagenarians can bring to the table when it comes to achieving something we want.
Thank you, Rick for producing Bill's story. I've replayed Parts A and B many times since you told me about them. They are great! Beautifully done.

Thanks TheShizue777 - I will pass you comments onto the Bill. He'll think that's absolutely great as he heading into another Albeta winter. Good luck on you test - you're going to do great. Cheers Rick

I will be thinking of Bill while I'm down at the DMV today. I'm up early to go over the handbook and review a few of your videos on air brakes. At this point I'm just hoping there isn't something I've missed that will come up on the test. Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say.
It's another beautiful day. The Giants beat the Dodgers and I'm ready to beat this test. Take care, Rick. Tell Bill he has an admirer in California.

Nice Video! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you researched - Foonlarvis Driver Domination (probably on Google)? It is a great exclusive guide for getting paid to drive minus the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my mate at last got great results with it.

    Hello Mr. Walker.
First time i watch one of your videos.
About to take a 6 weeks truck driving course in Ontario Canada ( i believe they will help me financially through the Second Career Program).
Woked in Fort Mc in the past.
As a cook. And a shuttle driver.
I am a bit confused right now.
Because i heard last night that only the owners make money. That if you the driver get cut at a scale that you have to pay up to 2,500 $ from your own pocket.
Could you please enlightned me on that? Oh... i thought of trucking because i used to drive a tractor at home on the farm. And i speak Spanish and French as well.... Some told me that it is not worthed because of all the hours i will loose at the borders...
Please answer me when you find a minute or two? Hey... my goal is definitely to go back to Alberta...
    Thank you!
    Born and bred in Canada!

Smart Drive Test Hi. You did not have to apologize. ;)
I didn't even think that you would have time to answer.
Would have, will have to open a Facebook account to write Mr. Walker. I am looking to start a CDL course and just to let you know here in Peterborough they cost at least 10,000$ for a six week program. Thanks again!

Hi Lionel Charles - the place to start is with Alberta's licence agency: www.transportation.alberta.ca/ Here you should be able to find the information for a driving school in that province. Before you get started on a license, I would suggest that you ensure that you meet the immigration requirements. If you can't get a work visa, there's not point in working to get a license. All the best, Cheers Rick
