    It isn't really intestines. It's the mesentery. Mesentery is the membrane that holds the intestines in place, attached to the abdominal wall. So, technically, the mesentery is much cleaner than the intestines since no food or waste pass through it.

      @@TheHutchFoodAdventures It's is turned inside out when preparing it, hence it is clean. Chicharon bulaklak is more exotic and more expensive in the Philippines, hence more popular

    • @BLaCkKsHeEp
      @BLaCkKsHeEp 3 года назад

      @@NooBRANGER01 i think its cos in the US, that kind of dish would be considered "chitlins" and depending on how you clean/cook it, it can taste like poop.
      but yeah, Pinoys know the difference between bulaklak (mesentery. also translates to "flower" to you non Pinoys out there) and chitlins (intestines)

    The chicken skin and chicharon bulaklak are my favorites. I love them and am sure you would like them too.Eat the bulaklak with rice to neutralize the fat. It’s not beef intestine but pork intestine.They use them as pulutan( food for the people drinking beer or wine) . Most of the Filipino food are eaten with rice.

    Chicharon is not just limited to pork. Basically any animal with a skin you can make a chicharon out of it. The common ones aside from pork is beef chicharon and fish chicharon (made from fish skin). At least here in our side of the Philippines, we just call that Crispy Chicken Skin.

    You need to serve these with beer or (fruit) soda to help with the fat coating the mouth. Personal recommendations:
    a. Beer = pilsner, blonde ale, or IPA to really cut the fat; if you're more into not blunting the fat too much, imperial stout (just note that vinegar and stout don't go that well together for some people)
    b. Sodas = Dr Pepper cherry (or Coke cherry if you don't like Dr Pepper), orange or grape sodas; if you really want to cut through the fat, lemon sodas including Sprite
    c. Cocktails = Margarita, pina colada, or even a zombie; or anything you like but just note which might be a match based on the beer and soda recos; or the college student cocktail special = equal parts bottled iced tea and some OK but still cheap rum, equal parts, mixed then poured over shaved ice
    These are typically eaten either with beer at home or in a bar/bistro, or with soda as a snack when out and about. Or heck if you take Uber or have a driver, the Philippines didn't really have ordinances like in the US where you can't just pop open a beer anywhere (the real problem is you can't buy beer in grocery stores already chilled, and that's more likely to have a stall selling these deep fried meat bits than say near a 7/11 where you can get chilled beer).
