You mentioned adding pear hooks/links so I felt the need to say this. Pear clips/hooks/links are commonly used for bird toys but are typically loose and easy to undo and have hooked and damaged many parrots beaks. Oval shaped quick links, however, are typically more solid and harder for birds to undo, having a consistent width also makes it less likely to get caught on beaks. So if you do use any metal hooks I strongly recommend oval shaped quick links (make sure they are stainless steel). Always make sure they are screwed on tightly and depending on the size of your bird, you may want to get larger more sturdy quick links. Any unscrewed hooks can be very dangerous and my friend has had a bird unscrew a pear link. Thankfully, the bird didn't get caught in it but did manage to unscrew it.
