- Koh Samui is the second largest island in Thailand and some people argue that it is the most beautiful, with the most to offer! There is no denying that the beaches of Chaweng and Lamai are absolutely stunning and there are a lot of different neighborhoods on the island to explore. So join me and my Dad as we check out some of the most popular places, take a Muay Thai class (highly recommend) and learn from my very bad sunburn mistake! Koh Samui should definitely be on your Thailand bucketlist!

Beautiful place! Thanks for the tour. Hope your burn is doing better. Whenever I've been sunburnt in tropics, pure Aloe Vera gel heals it overnight, like magic! Straight from the plant is best, the bottle from pharmacy is second. Just make sure it's 100% pure, no alcohol. Best to you and your dad! ❤
Yeah aloe vera is great. Sadly couldn't find any fresh but the bottle kind helped a lot as well.

What a great place to spend a day on the beautiful island 🏝 of Koh Samui.
That's the lovely aspect of SE Asia - you can base yourself in the big city then go down to the islands, up the mountains, try various activities etc. It's an amazing lifestyle with amazing food and friendly people.

Love the vibe on Samui more so than Phuket. And it’s a big enough island so you can always escape and find your own little corner of paradise somewhere. Definitely go back and explore some more with some stronger sunscreen. 😊

Was trying to remember where my friend and I were in Koh Samui and you mentioned it as Chaweng Beach. The surf was always flat as a pancake from memory. Busy and hustling. Excellent Thai food at the Hotel restaurant right on the waterside with fantastic sunsets. Walked to the Big Buddha from our Hotel. Did that trip to the marine park which was OK but I lost my lunch on the way back in the boat. It was full on choppy sea and the small boat was just getting flipped up and down the whole way. Remember a woman getting a really bad disk problem in her back then having to lie down like a plank for the rest of that boat trip - she was in constant agony.
Love your videos Alina. Your Dad is fantastic and I am enjoying both of you together on your journey. The Island looks beautiful and i think Bophut would be my spot too.

I can feel your pain having been sunburned badly.
It reminds me of my own experience being on Phuket. I thought I applied sunscreen properly, but I got red skin and itching everywhere. I had to see a doctor and got something to put on. I took cold showers in the night to reduce the itching for a little bit to sleep. 🦞

Sad to hear about your sunburn, south of thailand usually its a common thing for most foreigners..the fisherman village area looks nice and quiter compared to the other busy parts of koh samui

Ouch! My Dad and I both got sunburns like that in Mui Ne, Vietnam. Same thing--sunscreen that really wasn't. We spent all the next day in the shaded part of the resort pool.

I loveeeeeeedddddd Koh Samui. I stayed in a small villa near the Big Buddha and the temple. It was definitely the quiet side of the island which was perfect.
Aww, what a shame that you weren't able to go to Koh Tao. It's some of the best snorkelling in the region.

Thank you for this video. It's been a while since I've been to Thailand (I think i went in 2013 and 2014) so 10 years ago wow. I don't remember going to Koh Samui, but your trip looked like you had fun. I miss authentic thai massages, I do thai massage myself as I got certified in the US). I have done muay thai too, theres a teacher i like called Spring (female) here on youtube whose a good teacher. Also, I saw and heard about your sunburn. I know how painful those can be. I feel sad that it slowed down your fun thai trip. I hope you are feeling better and recovering now. Sending you light and love.

Forgot to add in my previous post in Thailand most sun screens also have a whiting agent as many Thai ladies don't like going to tan, while us Farangs try our best to get some colour, but certainly not lobster red☺😄😁

Alina you are living in the best Island of Thailand. Infact all the Islands are breath taking. I am from Perth, but I will be visiting Koh Samui end of July. I will dine at Lilly Koi for 8 nights while I am in Thailand. It is a pity foreigners cannot buy house and land only Condo. Are you living in Thailand. Everytime I see a video of Thailand. Foreigners from all parts of the world are coming to make Thailand their home. How I envy them.

Ihave trained at Tiger Muay Thai Phuket many years ago when there was no UFC fighters going there. I am impressed that you dad gave it a go! May I ask how old he is? Koh Samui is awesome place.....will head back again soon.

Koh Samui is ok and I prefer it over Phuket. I'm Samui expert but found myself scootering to Fabriques for breakfast in Lamai every morning which was a awesome breakfast treat. Didn't notice the rock formations in Lamai proper, but a non discript accommodation 10 mins away had awesome rock formations on its beach. The only advise I have if you travel to Koh Samui is use the local airport. It's not the usual cookie cut airport and charming. You'll spare plenty of time with the ferry option and wasted time in Surat Thani.
