Welcome to Laos, I hope you enjoy with my country. Laos is the place that less people know I really glad that have someone show how my country is, and also "Mango Sticky rice" is the dessert that have in many countries, it's not weird that you think it's Thai dessert because Thai made it popular but actually you also can find it in other country such as Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, ... although it's not many equal in Thailand and I think cause Laos is the land of sticky rice so for me it will tasted better than other. Hope you like it as well and sorry if my English skill is not good.
Mango sticky rice It is definitely a food that was created in Thailand. Because the sides must be mixed with coconut milk to be delicious with mango. Do you use coconut milk in Laotian, Vietnamese, and Cambodian food? We have a longer and clearer history of this food than you. Don't claim it's your food because it uses sticky rice. That's nonsense. Just accept that the influence of Thai food in this era has spread to neighboring countries. That's enough. Nothing was damaged.
@@chaserbundit43 I never said that it's not Thai food, I said that it's also have in many countries and I don't know how history is it, but I mentioned that I like Lao version the most and hope they like it as well because Laos is land of sticky rice and we ate everything with sticky rice in very long time and if you don't know we also use milk coconut in some food too, such as "Khao Pun and Khao Tom" It's not many food as in Thai but we also using it too.
I totally agree with you, Luang Prabang was also my favoirte city, I did not really care about the capital but here the scenery was beautiful and I liked getting up very early to offer some food to the monks who walked along one particular street before going back to the monastery. The live in Laos is so simple and quiet one could really calm down and enjoy the small things of the day as a excellent meal or a lovely sunset.
The stunning architecture, the delicious local cuisine and the overall tranquil vibe definitely makes me wanna visit. Great job highlighting this underrated gem 🇱🇦
I left LB when I was 7 to up north my mom and dad use to work in palace, and whent back to college there, that was almost 50yrs ago love it there, soo beautiful ❤❤❤
I was there in Nov' 2003. There has been a coup and the city was under curfew. I had come up from Thailand on a boat trip that took us a couple of days. Street lanterns at night, beautiful architecture with quaint buildings and narrow paths. Peaceful and honest people. It was a magical experience. One day we went to visit a waterfall, as we walked out to it we met a guy who invited us in to his house to meet his pets....an Asian tiger, a bear and it's bear cub. You couldn't make it up! I'll never forget that trip. Thanks Alina for sharing your time there.
What an absolutely stunning place! So much to do and see; it seems like a place you could really enjoy if you were into quietness and contemplation. Looks like this trip is doing wonders for you both. A great video, Alina.👋
Laos has always been a bit slower than Cambodia and other surrounding countries, when it comes to development and tourism. Hoever, it is nowadays quite a known destination here in SE Asia, with more and more tourism from the surrounding countries as well. Many Singaporeans, Malaysians, Thai and Vietnamese visit it, knowing they get good value for their local currencies and money goes a long way.
alina, it's so nice there, what you and your dad are going to do together is so impressive and inspiring thank you for showing us this impressive city very nice video
My favorite spot in the Luang Prabang peninsula, at the point where the Nangka River meets the Mekong River. Along the Mekong river is so relaxful. We always stayed at the Indigo Hotel, right on the Night market and we sat on the balcony looking down at the night market. Love it!
Fabulous depiction of the place, Alina. I can't believe how little it seems to have changed in the 11 years since we were there! The night market scenes brought back lots of memories. Glad you mentioned the part about them having to set up and take down their displays every night...not trivial...and yet it must be worth it for them. Such a great market, though. Very different from the regular market that is open during the day. Definitely worth a visit as it isn't touristy. Also, even though your drone shots captured things very well, we enjoyed the commanding views from the temple at the top of the hill near the centre of town.
Love your videos! I’m headed to SE Asia for the first time in Feb 2025 (Vietnam) but I’ve just added Laos/Luang Prabang to my list based on your videos alone. Thank you!
We love Laos! Luang Prabang is amazingly beautiful. We will be there again next month. Can't wait. Hope you are staying in LP longer and will post more from there. I also, hope you will spend time in Vientiane too. It is actually our favorite. Very different from LP but wonderful in a more local way. Hope you will be going.
Happy to hear you enjoyed it as well! I will have our day trip from Kuangsi Falls and the Mekong coming up next! We did just leave Vientiane but sadly I got very sick and wasn’t able to film.
Wow Alina it is so nice there. What you and your Dad are getting to do together is so impressive and awe inspiring! Thank you for showing us this very impressive city!
Wow that place is amazing! After all that has happened to that area of the world, the place is beautiful and no wonder that place is a world UNESCO site. Merry Christmas, Happy Channukah, Shana Tova/Happy New Year and let your dreams turn into the most real journey your footsteps has ever travelled!!!!

I mean underrated in the world sphere. If you say Bangkok, Hanoi or even Siem Reap people will have some idea of what they’re about but few people know anything about Luang Prabang.
It's been a long time since I've watched one of your videos. I'm glad to see you're doing well and it's even better that you and your dad are there together. I have great memories of some of your early videos talking about your childhood and the role your dad has and has had in your life. Be well
OMG my favorite hotel is right across the street where you guys dine.... that tall 3 story building, right in the heart of the night market. Best place to stay and you can sit at the balcony, looking down at the night market. Can't wait to come there in May and am definitely staying at that hotel.
Interesting! I am a Chinese, but I never think of traveling to Laos , after watched your video, I think next time back to china, I should travel to Laos
the best view of lp is coming from the road #13 from sala phoukhoun down to the lp basin is still one of my memorable moment of the magical time for me after all day driving from xieng khouang... and the sunset was on our left then in front of us, still remember that very moment of the first time driving to lp.
What a wonderful video, highlighting some of the great things Luang Prabang has to offer. One of the biggest surprises for me was wandering the streets after an epic noodle soup lunch, and then running into you and your dad filming and doing the same. Thanks for stopping and the small chat. We have been following yours videos and travel recommendations for years, and you have inspired my wife and I to try and see some of these great sites as well.

Very beautiful video. This little town is amazing and the cuisine so nice and above all very genuine and healthy and you dad seemed to appreciate it. Thank you for sharing this awesome journey. Merry Christmas Alina and dad.❤🌲⭐️🌲⭐️
The first kings of Lan Xang expanded the kingdom. Lan Xang reached the height of its prosperity under King Souligna Vongsa in the 1600s before declining and splitting into three kingdoms - Kingdom of Luang Prabang, Kingdom of Champassak and Kingdom of Vientiane in the early 1700s. Laos remain divided first under the control of Thailand and then part of French Indochina, colonial possession of France from 1883 to 1946. In 1946 after World War II, the French returned and reconstituted the Kingdom of Laos. Laos soon got dragged into the Vietnam War battling the Vietnamese Communists and their allies, the Pathet Lao. In 1975 the Pathet Lao seized power and since then Laos has been a communist country.
I was in Luang Prabang in '02 and stuck the gob on some Canadian bird, as I recall. It's a lot more developed now that it was then. My travel buddy and I ate French baguettes only to discover half way through that they were infested with ants and we both threw our guts up later that night. Good stuff!
I love this! I am happy to see you and your dad enjoyed it there so much. It is definitely more of a Saskatchewan pace there, compared to other parts of SE Asia. Happy travels.
Luang Prabang has been settled since ancient times, since the 600s. It was an old Khmer settlement which was abandoned and settled by Tai peoples, ancestors of the Thai and Lao. The Tai founded various city states that warred against each other. Unity came to Laos in 1353 when all the Tai states in the region were conquered by Fa Ngum, a son of an exiled Tai prince, who founded the Kingdom of Lan Xang ( literally translated it means " Kingdom of a Million Elephants and a White Parasol). Fa Ngum was aided in his conquest by the Khmers or Cambodians who in return for aid in his conquest, promised to spread Theravada Buddhism throughout his kingdom.
Back in 1998 come into Luang prabang from the Mekong on one of them fast boats, the ones all painted up like fairground ride what a trip. That night market was about back then and your video as really brought back some memories.
Hello Alina, I have been following your journey on and off. it's good that you enjoyed visiting Luang Prabang. I can only imagine what it is like for someone coming from a completely different cultural background and geography location when encountering a city, culture, and environment like Luang Prabang, but can't never know for sure. Our family left that lovely and peaceful city nearly 44 years ago and have not been back. The video brings back all the memories. Thank you for sharing your experience with world. Wish you and your dad peace, happiness and good health.🙏
19:23 Welcome to Luangphrabang..as Laotian-Canadian..I also used to live in Regina Saskatchewan..but now resided in Toronto.Hope you and your dad enjoy your stay in Laos.
Another great video Alina, featuring so many beautiful places. I love the cups in which the coffee was served. Food looks yummy and is very inexpensive. The scenery from the Manda de Laso is breathtaking. Happy to see your dad enjoying the trips with you.
I love the mango, sticky rice dish you and your dad ate. Thanks for sharing and giving us a glimpse into this city's sights and sounds. Much appreciated.
Great video! Thank you for visiting the homeland! :) Regarding the night markets - almost everyone goes to where you show. However there are so many others selling street sides and alleys, that are so good!
This was a eye opening video of a place that I really only had heard of by name. Laos as a whole is a place I have read about in the past but not recently. From you video this struck me as one of the most English friendly places in Asia. Many signs had an English translations and it seems that a fair number of locals have a limited command of the language. I expected more French because of its colonial past but other than the architectural touches I didn't see a lot of french. The was a fairly visible number of non asians which shows my lack of familiarity with this area. Alina when you had the Mango fried rice I thought you were going to do the old cartoon Snuffles the dog thing, MMum and levitate like when he got a dog bone. Your Dad put it best " The best Mango Fried Rich I've ever had". No equivocation there. Another enjoyable video.
Yeah I was surprised by it as well! With French there was actually a lot of people from France there (could hear the language on the street) but not a lot of signs or locals speaking it.
I have never seen anything from Laos before, and I really like what you are showing us, would love going there now! Thank you for making such beautiful videos Alina. And your dad is so great too. He is so enthusiastic and eager and good at commentary as well. You are both great "influencers", actually I'd call you travel guides 🌏
Luang Prabang is a gem in the rough. We know ex-pats that enjoy living and traveling there. Lots of great festivals during the course of the year. The friendliest people in the world. Hope you enjoyed your time there. Feel better . Hope your Holidays are peaceful and restful. Sending you Hugs 🫂 and Kisses💋 from Harriet, Jim and Yuki

Yeah I tried to include a range of places to show what there is, $60 usd is a high end option that they had there.
My type of city: small and out of the mainstream. My type of food. Fantastic as always.
It is really lovely!
Luang Prubang has actually become quite ‘mainstream’ as well. Otherwise you wouldn’t see the development it has made.
How wonderful you get to travel and experience this awesome place with your dad.

That's right ❤,Dad I love that.
Absolutely 🙂
The Kingdom of Green Star is not intertwined with Siam, but rather the land of Laos Why does more than half of Thailand speak Lao
Back in 1998 come into Luang prabang from the Mekong on one of them fast boats, the ones all painted up like fairground ride what a trip. That night market was about back then and your video as really brought back some memories.
What a lovely and chill tour of Laos. Pumpkin pie and mango & sticky rice, let's go! 😊
You have a good heart and a great relationship with your dad!!
I’m so glad, thank you!
So nice to see you creating memories with Pops which will last the rest of your lives.
I love your dad's accent - lovely to listen to. Regards from England.

Another great video Alina, featuring so many beautiful places. I love the cups in which the coffee was served. Food looks yummy and is very inexpensive. The scenery from the Manda de Laso is breathtaking. Happy to see your dad enjoying the trips with you.
It is super lovely 🙂 thank you!
Very charming town Alina. Thanks for teaching me something new today and it's definitely on my bucket list the next time I'm in South East Asia.

Laos welcomes you, thank you for visiting our country and hope you have a great time
I love the mango, sticky rice dish you and your dad ate. Thanks for sharing and giving us a glimpse into this city's sights and sounds. Much appreciated.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great vid! Thank you so much for visiting us!
Great video! Thank you for visiting the homeland! :)
Regarding the night markets - almost everyone goes to where you show. However there are so many others selling street sides and alleys, that are so good!
Thank you for loving Laos. My birth country. ❤
❤❤❤your videos clips. Keep during the great job.❤❤❤
Aw thank you so much!
