@@ddixalot Alina has dealt with travel costs for years. I haven't at all. One trip finished it for me. But that blocks me from perspective for what "value" is for the digital nomad. The only "value" for me was a better exchange rate in ATMs in foreign countries. I can't really recall paying for ordinary things abroad.

I just flew back from Ho Chi Minh city to London. Luckily a direct flight, however it was over 13 hours. I find aisle seats the best, you can get up without bothering other passengers and you can occasionally stretch your legs out in to the aisle from time to time. Luckily my flight was a night time flight too, so I managed to sleep the best part of 7 hours out of 13. Agree though long haul flights like that are never easy especially in economy.

To be fair we took a four day break in Bangkok between those flights, but that was the longest distance we’ve flown. You guys couldn’t have picked a better time to travel to Hanoi and the cost of living in Asia is lower than its in Canada and many people have given up immigrating to the West or are returning home because its very tough to live comfortably in Canada. Nice hotel with the daily breakfast perk and you could unwind after that long flight and extended layover in Tokyo. Thanks for the video and looking forward to more during your stay abroad. Take care and stay blessed! 😊

I thought it was not so bad. 5 years ago, we did 14 hours from Montreal to Shanghai, that was not so bad. The worst flight was flying back from Beijing, a 9 hour flight to Vancouver and then 5 hours to Montreal. I5 was so hot in the plane coming back to Vancouver, I had to get up and stretch my legs a dozen times. I now try to go to places that offer a direct flight of less than 6 hours.

When I fly long haul, I have a rule that if I am awake, I get up and walk around the aircraft at least once an hour. For this reason, I always prefer wide body aircraft with the two aisles, you can use the galleys to cut through and form a quasi walking path. I have only ever done a 14-hour flight from ICN to JFK and fortunately it was in business class on A380. Even there I had a hard time making 14 hours. It felt so good to get off of the plane. I am not sure I could do 14 hours in an economy cabin, unless maybe it was JAL's roomier economy.

Wow that's quite the journey. Awesome to do it with your Dad. Reminds me of my Delhi - Toronto flight this year. Delhi to Vancouver 15hr - Didn't leave Delhi until 4:00am - so we were up all day as we had to be at the airport at 1:00 am. Then a 4 hr layover in Vancouver and finally on to Toronto. Something like 38 hours door to door. Yikes. Luv your channel. Looking forward to the next episode.
    Tom from Toronto

Hello, hope you and dad are doing ok after that long flight. The longest flight was when we flew with stops and layovers was to Chengdu , China . It was 32 Hr. Surprisingly , we handled it quite
well. Have you been to China ? It's a beautiful country. Enjoy your time in Hanoi, Vietnam. We enjoyed our time there. Sending you much love❤ from Richmond, Va. Harriet, Jim and Yuki

Every time venturing out from Australia is a long flight. Have only ever managed to sleep once, when a lot younger, after heaps of travelling. You get used to it and simply have to factor it into your planning. Get wise to how to minimize travel time. Crash at the first hotel booking to recover from the jetlag. Try to find a hotel with sauna if possible as this really freshens me up. 30 hours is a long flight - maybe a bit over that is the longest I have endured.
Well done getting $30.00 hotel accommodation for 2 people. That is unheard of these days but not for you apparently. Enjoy SE Asia - your Dad is a real trooper and very entertaining:-) Your new luggage looks like a good, useful, stress reliving investment.

Vietnam has always been high on my list of countries I'd love to visit - I'm looking forward to the series! There's something uniquely awful about Air Canada's 777 seating configuration though, I flew from Frankfurt to Calgary on one last year; it was the most cramped and uncomfortable economy class I've ever flown. Never again 😵‍💫

Great video Alina! Great to see you with your Dad. Whew that's a long flight. I think the most we have ever done was a 11 hour flight and that was very tiring. Have a great time and looking forward to future videos!

the key to flying to Asia from the Western hemisphere is to catch a night flight... your body tends to be in "sleep" mode and youll be more incline to sleep due to the night hours! not recommend to catch morning, day flight as your eyes, body is not naturally gonna sleep..... after years of traveling to Asia and Japan 5x, i always catch a night flight if available and it makes the flying in economy little better.. you can manage to get few hours or half of your flight time, it makes a big difference.

I am flying back to Canada for Xmas and I got a one-way ticket (always buy one way - always cheaper buying two one ways than a return - it just is) for $650 cad ($475 usd) on Philippine Airlines. Of course that isn't a direct flight but the price is right and Philippine Airlines is a decent airline. I flew to Ho Chi Minh City from Vancouver in September for $455 cad on ANA, the world's best airline - there are ALWAYS bargains if you book a couple months ahead.

Most airlines pad the flight time by about 45 minutes in case they are stuck at the runway at takeoff or landing. The problem with being early or late many times you have to wait for a gate.
