As an individual with love for travelling on aircrafts all year but not enough funds for it, I thank you for the wonderful experience that brings me just a bit closer to the real deal ❤️
Yes, I too would like a little more from Noel when he is staying in a place, but perhaps he’s knackered after doing his airport, airline review, but the little insight into where your staying would be nice, asking kindly here Noel. 😂👍
I flew that route three years ago with Jetstar Pacific. It was supposed to leave at 8 pm, but kept getting delayed. In the end I managed to get onto an 'earlier' flight that left at one in the morning by going to the boarding gate and talking to an agent who wrote out a boarding pass for my by hand. I was quite surprised when they actually let me on. I got to Saigon at two in the morning. On the plus side, they gave me a voucher for a perfectly decent pho at Da Nang, and the flight itself was very inexpensive.
Yes, airports in Vietnam tend to do this with the boarding gates. I sense that this confusion is a risk that one takes when flying low cost. I hope that your connection was a smooth one. Thank you for sharing this video!
1:10 Pacific Airlines are not only a codeshare airline with Vietnam Airlines, they are actually their low cost subsidiary! Just like how Scoot is to SQ and Jetstar is to Qantas.
Flying over Vietnam and seeing the scenery has made me really want to go back there and explore as I was only a child when I was last there like 28 years ago!
You should, a wonderful countrry, friendly helpful people and easy enough to find local folks who speak some/good English. Flight delays and comlicationshappen in all countries whether budget or full fare airlines. I've worked in many locations in Vn (my base is Bangkok in Thailand) and in more recent years used budget airlines many times. A few delays but nothing disastrous, and the airline staff went out of their way to get the situation fixed as soon as possible.
@8:28 nice turning departure around Monkey Mntn. I had a teacher from Jr High School who was RADAR operator on that mntn during the war. He worked early C-5 and even SR-71 flights back in the late 60's and early 70's.
Hello Noel Philips i have been watching you for years and I love your videos I travel the world a lot myself and I was wondering if you could some day go on iceland air
6:10 this aircraft looks like it was just operated by Jetstar Pacific which is the reason for the weird livery, Jetstar Pacific was Pacific Airline's predecessor as you already explained at 6:40
We toured Vietnam about 3 years ago, great experience, loved the place and the people. Best bit of advise I read on tripadvisor was to use only Vietnam Airlines for internal flights, would be a few quid more but much more reliable. All x4 flights left on time without any problem, for a total of around £250 each.
Thank you for your honest opinions about these airlines. It is a true miracle that they are still flying and not all crash in the jungle somewhere. Of course you get what you pay for.....
Not unusual. The code for Krungthep Maha Nakhon is still BKK. :) And from what I've heard, it seems that even in Ho Chi Minh the city is widely referred to as Saigon.
It might be a bit late now, but if anyone is wondering: for 5:46 a more correct translation for "chua co thong bao" (actually: chưa có thông báo) would be "no announcement yet" or "no information yet".
Great video. Pacific Airlines A320 was a former Jetstar livery. No food or drink on the short flight? So, I am looking forward to flying on Vietnam Airlines from Singapore to Saigon on A321 and to Bangkok on either A350 or B787 in two months. I was last flown on VN was on the summer of 2001 from HKG to Hanoi on A321 and Hanoi to Saigon on B767-300ER. I visited both places in 2001.
I just recently flew Southwest Airlines from St. Louis to Los Angeles. Needless to say, it resembled your flight in this video. And it included a series of delays that led to us taking off four hours late.
I was in vietnam a month ago and also took three domestic flights! Hanoi to Da Nang + back, then Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh before we left back to London :) Booked through Vietnam Airlines and had Pacific Airlines for the Hanoi to Da Nang flight. Everything was very easy and quick for us to be honest. No chaos or confusion. Even when our flight was on national day, it was very calm. Our flight from Da Nang to Hanoi was delayed by 50 minutes, but it was quite clear and obvious. Even to us, a small group of 18 year olds going through airports for the first time alone! So I'm surprised you had trouble with the domestic flights in Vietnam because ours was all smooth sailing! The only slight confusion we had was from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh where we were told we had to pick up our bags at Ho Chi Minh and then check them in again in the international terminal for our flight to London. I got a phone call from the same person that checked in my bags and right before we boarded the first plane he told us that actually, we didn't need to pick up our bags and it would all be done for us. So we went straight through to the international terminal in Hoi Chi Minh, not worrying about our bags... And they did infact show up in London :)
I flew with Jetstar from Adelaide in South Australia some years ago. We had two changes of gates from the original assigned gate at the airport. Each one was about as far apart from the other as you could get!
I faced the same thing while my family were on the way to Danang. Its just that we got a bit of a quarrel with the Batik Air/Malindo Air staff at Kuala Lumpur Airport when they pulled a “Oh no! The plane is full! You can’t board the flight!” But then they were able to override the “no-board” thing so, yea we got to Danang safely :). Moral of the story, never book Batik/Malindo when you have a connection.
Flew the route about 3 weeks ago on Vietjet just after the typhoon. Surprised to be sat in front of the curtain on a budget flight.. Bamboo from SGN up to HAN on the 787 was a pleasant experience in Biz.
Vietnam does look beautiful really! But I do hope to see you explore more of the Philippines in the future from our bustling city of Manila to our beautiful beaches and especially in our provinces! So I do hope that could be part of your next set of Southeast Asia adventures too!
I flew from Bangkok back to Newcastle on Friday with emirates, connection In Dubai and was saying to my fella, I wish I could bump into one of my you tubers like Noel while im at the airport! I kept an eye out just in case 😂 Ps..I’m a very nervous flyer, I watch your videos to help the anxiety 😊
I flew this route with Viet Jet Air back in 2018. The flight was pretty cramped and basic, but otherwise not too bad. Not that it’s that long a flight.
My last flight from Vietnam was Hanoi to Vientiane, Laos on a Lao Airlines A320 that was originally to be delivered to Air Afriqiyah who selected BRIGHT GREEN seats brand new. Lao got a good deal on the pair of jets, no need to change the seats and thankfully they have a touch of green in their logo. You MUST visit Laos in this part of the world. Maybe that's after Singapore!
This looks a lot like my Easyjet flight from London Gatwick to Amsterdam. Except that on Easyjet I had to get my luggage tags at a kiosk, then stick them on my luggage myself, then find the conveyor belt to put my luggage. I also had to check my carry-on bag. No free soda on Easyjet like here. No reclining seats either.
Loved watching your videos. My wife and I experienced the same thing you had a long time ago. Our flight was delayed a bit, and we had a connection flight. When we arrived at our destination, we only had less then 1/2 for our next flight and our gate was in a different terminal. We ran and made in time. Don't want to experience that again so every time I book a flight that has a connection, I'd be sure it's more than 2 hours. Don't care how much it is. By, the way, have you mentioned your latest equipment? I like to know.
After looking at HCM departure board after this video, I am surprised you didn’t stay and fly on all those other interesting smaller carriers over there.
I flew this route from Da Nang to Saigon on Vietjet and it was delayed by 3 hrs. Looking on flight radar, the same flight had been delayed by 3hrs everyday that week, just push the schedule departure time back if that's the case!
When I was in Vietnam in 2017, I used Vietnam Airlines for internal flights instead of the low-cost carriers. Apparently, air traffic control gives priority to the flag carrier, which is why so many low-cost flights are delayed. Also, VA was typically twice as expensive as it’s competitors, but was still very cheap by European standards.
seeing Vietjet Air in this video kinda reminds me of Thai Vietjet Air that I flew earlier this year, some of the planes still have the WOW air livery on it, and they only slapped the “Vietjet” on the tail to distinguish it . And in case you’re wondering, yes they also contain purple-themed cabin, charger ports, and even a device holder. Which cannot be found on a non WOW air, Thai Vietjet livery plane

Flying out of my local home Airport.... hope you enjoyed beautiful Danang,, best city in SE Asia.. PS that was an expensive cheap flight... I normally fly to Saigon or Hanoi for around 700,000 to 1,200,000 VND... on Vietnam airlines... ( $35-50 USD)
My brother Noel is hilarious…. “Hannoying “ 😂 also this is why I never check luggage in. I go with one carryon and a backpack. It’s enough for me during my travels. If I’m staying someplace long it’s still enough. I’ll just do laundry wherever I may be. I’ve only experienced a lost bag once…. ONCE 😂. Also it defeats delays as well. So I’m flexible and agile. 👊🏾. Another great video in a beautiful location!
How did you lose a carryon bag? I have flown about 150 times in my life, always with a minimum of one checked bag as my backpack is filled to the brim with camera geear. I used the checked bag for my tri-pods instead of trying to lash them to the backpack. I only had my luggage, actually my wife and I coming home from Christmas as her sisters, miss our flight one time. Delta paid to have our luggage driven from Nashville to Huntsville instead of just putting it on a flight straight into Huntsville. Plus they gave us a $100 ticket voucher, which we used to cover the higher ticket prices out of Huntsville over Nashville.
I've had the same flight as this last year, must've missed you by a couple days/weeks! Ps. If you're ever back in Da Nang, you should visit Hoi An, amazing old village/city
When I flew on this 2006 the people started to get overhead luggage around 500ft before landing 🤣🤣
