You Can't Make Up What The Oklahoma City Thunder Keep Doing.. | OKC NBA News (Cason Wallace, Draft)

  • The Oklahoma City Thunder surprised so many of us as they exceeded almost all of their expectations throughout the entire 2023 NBA season. And after falling just short of the playoffs & heading into the 2023 NBA offseason, many were seemingly surprised how they approached the 2023 NBA Draft with yet another lottery pick. And after drafting Kentucky guard Cason Wallace 10th overall, it might not have seemed like a crazy move at the time, but the OKC Thunder might be hiding something from us.
Now after the breakout and impressive seasons from SGA, Jalen Williams, Josh Giddey, along with the likes of Lu Dort, Aaron Wiggins, Tre Mann, etc, the Thunder adding yet another backcourt player in Cason Wallace might seem crazy. But with OKC, Sam Presti & HC Mark Diagneault’s unorthodox style of basketball makes perfect sense for the selection of Cason Wallace. And through the film & highlights of his play at Kentucky, he is yet another piece to solidify their rotation in 2024.
And along with Cason Wallace’s defense at such a high level, adding him to the mix with Chet Holmgren and his return from injury, the Oklahoma City Thunder are going to be a two-way machine this season led once again by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. But we’ll just have to wait and see if they’re able to exceed expectations once again.
This video includes 2023 Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Draft highlights, also including topics like Oklahoma city thunder 2023, oklahoma city thunder 2023 nba draft, cason wallace okc thunder, cason wallace highlights, cason wallace college highlights kentucky, keyontae johnson okc thunder, cason wallace interview, keyontae johnson interview, okc thunder press conference, okc thunder nba draft reaction, cason wallace defense, cason wallace offense, cason wallace kentucky, keyontae johnson highlights, okc thunder draft, okc thunder highlights, okc thunder summer league, okc thunder offseason 2023, okc thunder free agency 2023, okc thunder news today, chet holmgren news, chet holmgren injury news, sga highights, jalen williams thunder, jalen williams highlights, josh giddey okc thunder, josh giddey highlights, okc thunder espn, thunder podcast, thunder rebuild, thunder live, okc thunder draft picks 2023, etc, which I do not own ANY of the rights to whatsoever, as these are intended to be used under the guidelines of fair use through RUclips.

Let’s all remember how controversial Josh Giddey was, and how he’s turning into an all star caliber player now and how good the Williams are going to be both of them I trust Sam Presti to do whatever he thinks is right

Sam Presti has a track record of brilliance. Unfortunately, Clay Bennett has been unwilling to compete financially with the likes of Golden State, the Clippers, Lakers and even Milwaukee. That is how he drafted and then lost 3 MVPs. Maybe the new CBA will make that more achievable. Reason to hope in OKC.

OKC isn’t as dependent on rotations like most teams. They draft a certain kind of player to fit their positionless style. This makes them dangerous when they have 15 players who can thrive within the system. They’re about to be dangerous for a very long time. Dort needs a shoutout, too. He’s necessary for a playoff run.

Wallace is perfect for what the Thunder want. The way their rotations are, SGA plays the whole first and third quarter while Josh sits the last 5-6 minutes of those quarters then starts the second and fourth…. Josh puts the effort in on D but if he’s always got Dort or Wallace to defend the other teams best guard, it will take some pressure off if they. At the same time, Josh got minutes at center last season. Their best line ups were when Kenrich Williams played center, and he’s like 6’6” tall. I love this team and can’t wait for summer league when we can see Chet again!

Perfect pick up! I love the Thunder’s non-heliocentric and postionless basketball style of play. A lot of guys that can handle the ball and play off ball. Every player has high feel for the game and can play on both ends of the floor.
I don’t really get the whole “we have too many gaurds” argument. Everyone can play multiple positions, especially with there size/length and varying skill sets. Did we forget that SGA is 6’6” with a 7-foot wingspan. He can play 1-3. JDub is 6’6” with a 7’2” wingspan. He can play 1-4. Josh Giddey is 6’8. He can play 1-4 and at times play the 5 if we want to play small. Lu Dort also plays bigger than he his despite being an undersized wing player.
People got to realize that positionless basketball is not only about having size. It’s about the multitude of skill sets each player can bring on both ends of the floor. Everyone on this team can play on and off ball.
We got a lot of hoopers on this team with that “dawg” mentality. It’s going to be an exciting season.

Cason is definitely a good player that will fit into Thunder's style of basketball. The thing is that who is he gonna replace when there are so many gaurds in the team. There are SGA, Giddey, Dort, and J-dub who played so well last season and they also have Joe, Wiggins, and even Waters who brought up energies and contributions in the bottom half of last season. Of course you can always let J-dub, Dort and Wiggins play SF or even PF, but that's gonna be hard when it comes to facing teams like the timberwolves or the Bucks as they can beat you easily based on their sizes

Bringing in Holngren, adding another lottery pick, and enough capspace to add an allstar, they easily could be top 3 seed, but instead they let their contract clock continue to tick by taking on a bunch of garbage cap space and taking a developmental player. This doesn't mean they can't be a top 6 seed by any means, but they could have been top 3, and next year the Thunder are down another year until they have to pay Giddey.

nothing is wrong with thunder picking cason. he looks promising. its just that thunder have no interest on moving dort away. when thunder become a contender, they will realize that inconsistency will hurt the team in the long run. memphis learned it the hard way with dillon brooks.

I was wondering if we Warriors fans could trade our "light years" GM's and management for Sam Presti. How bout if we throw in Klay?
As a Warriors fan seeing the continual, year upon year sh*t show - our horrible draft record, (after Jeerry West left the organization), I am so jealous of the OKC management. If you scroll thru the comments on Warriors draft and compare those comments on an OKC draft, you'll see great praise of Sam Pres, not the same with comments about Warriors organization. Count your blessings OKC. When Curry leaves we are going to be crap.

People will be really hyping this "OKC is pLaYinG poSitioNlesS" shit 😂😂. Like they forgot last 3 NBA champions had elite rebounders on their team. Joker for the Nuggets, Looney for the Warriors (despite being smaller than your traditional big, he turns to prime Rodman every playoffs lol), and Giannis and Lopez for the Bucks.
And what, OKC will do good because they are playing "positionless" and their starting 5 will be Holgrem? 😂😂 These OKC fans will get a dose of reality when Chet is being banged up by the likes of Embiid-AD-Joker etc. in the paint, because you know, apparently they are good with their current bigs. 😂😂

Actually the smart thing to do is spend their cap space now vs wait. They can always go over the cap with their own players later. It’s set up to reward those who draft well.
But again everyone kisses Sam prestis ass like he’s GM servant.
Go make a real move dude. You still will have 11-12 picks

Coming from a Hawks fan I'm starting to see that stockpiling picks doesn't work. How many drafts and picks do you need to be competitive? No team that stockpiled picks has won anything and honestly I think it hurts players. 7 1st rd picks in 3 yrs and hardly a play in team

    • @DrRobGilles
      @DrRobGilles Год назад

@@MeechG bro every time I think about the thunder it reminds me of the hawks too!! Just not on the same extreme.
A few years back the hawks were the thunder today. Had the hot shot all nba talent and all these prospects that everyone thought we’re gonna be all nba studs.
Trae had Collins Hunter okonwu Capela cam reddish huerter Jalen Johnson Cooper.
You thought that there was no way that anything could go wrong after stockpiling draft picks and players.
They never made the move to get over the hump and they fizzled out once it was time to start paying their players real money.
And as you probably agree with... part of the reason why the hawks flopped was because they had too many young players and not enough mins to go around to properly develop players and assign roles to.
In other words they didn’t consolidate their assets.
Thunder gonna do the same thing if they don’t Learn from the hawks. Because soon their team is gonna get very expensive and you can’t just keep drafting your way out of it because in the end everyone can’t get mins. Nba contenders win with 8-9 man rotations and 2-4 great players. Not 1-2 good to great players and 10 other kids under 25.
