Dear Shannon, it seems you are the only good fluteplayer with the biggest amount of irish tunes for session, so I am going to dedicate myself to your Teaching and tunes. I myself have two keyless flutes, a traditional delrin Seery and an african blackwood Celtic Martin Doyle with silver rings and tuning slide and I am wondering and hoping that you do not use keys in the tunes or when you do would you be so kind to also teach cross fingering for those who have keyless flutes?
Right now I cannot afford a keyed flute since I know a good flute is expansive ( to me) so this is Why I have two good ones. But I was told that literary there are thousand of irish tunes where keys are not needed. I learn from OAIM but they have 110 flute tunes and sometimes use keys which is giving me a headache and I have a tutor ( but We are rather learning to read music she has classical background ) also I do practise a lot and with a 3 year irish tin whistle background I am Improving fast which concerns me. I am trying to avoid the need to buy a new keyed flute for at least a while. Could it be possible to learn most of your tunes without using keys? I hope to survive with crossfingering. Also If I buy a keyed flute in the future what keyes Will i need to play professional tunes at sessions? How many keyes do you have on your flute?
I know these are a lot of questions but you are a good player, tutor, with a wide range of tunes which I would really love to learn. I also love your Teaching style sometimes it is a bit fast but I can slow Down the video I have enough practise in that and learning By ear. So I try to know whatever it needs to learn your tune of the months. I was really in love with Tin whistle for years and Still learning new tunes on whistle, but my deepest attention is now on irish flute. At some point in my whistle learning it just happened and just fell in love with sound of the flute since I am a challenge seeker I am very occupied with irish flute now. Yours is georgoius Patrick Olwell I just do not know what keys you have.
So could you Help By answering? Thank you in Advance.

Great questions, Judit. About the flute--mine has 6 keys (D#, short and long F naturals, G#, Bb, and long C). I feel very fortunate to have them, and I use them a great deal beCUASE I have them. But you do not need keys to play Irish music. As you say there are thousands of tunes without accidental notes. And you do not need to be 'professional' or anything other than who you are to participate in sessions! If you know two or two hundred tunes, you are part of this tradition!

As for the tunes I feature on the channel, I really do emphasize the ones that are easily managed on keyless flutes and whistles. OAIM is also a terrific resource. And it's fun that they have some additional challenging offerings. Above all, it does not matter which tunes... or how many or how fast... that you learn and play. Learn and enjoy one tune at a time, and that makes a repertoire full of tunes you know and love!

Thank you for emphasising on keyless tunes! OAIM Is fine But i would wait with the keyed challenges And use cross fingering if I can. (Long F is a tricky one)
But really really great that you put up tunes And We do not need to use keys when We learn these tunes.
I recommend your downloadable songs And book So wonderful.
