Also I’d recommend Rimworld, runs real nice and the controls are intuitive once you get used to it. With easy time control; fast forward/pause on two of the back buttons

Really really appreciate this video. Civ and Stellaris are games I have spent several thousand hours playing and their compatibility with the deck was going to vastly determine if I enjoyed it or not and seeing a performance breakdown was very helpful.

Hello there! So I know in video he mentioned that we considering games just using steam deck by itself (no keyboard, monitor and so on) just got my steam deck and tried Warhammer 2 using a monitor with keyboard and mouse. It works perfectly! I'm extremely pleased and impressed by it's performance. If you don't crank up quality to ultra and keep unit size medium to large you don't have any slow downs or anything like that. Good and smooth experience.
Thanks for the video! By the the medieval 2 runs perfectly fine as well. ;)

Exactly what I wanted to hear. Do you know if warhammer 3 runs well with these appliances by any chance?

Endless Space 2 is another great option for the Deck. Regular Proton has some issues rendering cutscenes, but Proton GE irons those issues right out and the rest of the game runs buttery smooth with either option.

Bump to Endless Space 2 and Endless Legend… also Age of Wonders 4 works great too!

Thanks for this! I’m also a big strategy gamer (who also plays loads of other games too) … I was bummed that I couldn’t get Warhammer 3 to run better, but I’ve been surprised to see that Hearts of Iron 4 actually has a solid experience on Deck. And Age of Wonders 4 also plays well too.

The Heroes of Might and Magic games are great for the Steam Deck. So are the XCom games. A lot of cRPG games are great too, like Pillars of Eternity, Divinity, Baldur's Gate, etc.

  • @Veristelle-

As a recent addict of FTL, I wish it was on console (switch) or mobile, since it would be amazing, but the dev doesn't want the gameplay to be at all subpar compared to pc, so it won't happen.
Can't wait to get a steamdeck, even if just for FTL, let alone the rest of the library.

One game that runs incredible well on steamdeck, that if you are into the franchise are a must, is battletech... the problem. It sucks without roguetech and getting that mod to run on linux is a pain in the rearend.
