I think the most important “flourish”, for me, is just mixing in a thorough, mind-boggling false cut. It helps in so many ways. It gives the spectator a sense that you really messed/mixed up the deck, yet it helps you for so many tricks and effects. Just an opinion.
Hey Alex, just wanted to say thank you for your guidance not only in RUclips but via The Blue Crown....I work with vulnerable children and during lockdown I figured I would spend some time learning card magic to help them engage as these kids have been through the most traumatic stuff imaginable and by using a few bits i've learned from you it's helped a lot in getting the children i work with to engage....so again from the heart bro....thank you
I realized I wasn't subscribed after watching all your vids for the past year. You have the best tutorials for taking a beginner to the next level. I have improved greatly and take your advice to heart. Even though I'm just a hobbiest magician the card flourishes and professional advice you give (like no longer asking people to take a card) goes a long way for me. You deserve all the success you find.
I would definitely do the Top Shot because it is an awesome flourish and a way to reveal a card. I also learned a lot and improved it since your last tutorial. Thanks :)
Awesome tutorial Alex!!! I love the Hot Shot cut it’s definitely one of my favorites!!!!! I love your videos so much thanks for everything!! If I could only use one flourish in my card magic I would use the Thumb Fan or the Top Shot...... aahhh their are so many great flourishes for card magic it would be so hard to choose, I will think about that one!!!!!🤩🤩
I don't know if you realise but you are motivating people like hell.❤️❤️ 2 days ago I saw your first video, and I dropped my jaw . So Now I am compled with all your videos
I love doing moves such as the hotshot cut just for fun, but whether or not I use fancy flourishes in my performance depends on the situation. If it is for my family or close friends who already know that I have some amount of skill with a deck of cards, then I have no problem doing some flourishes throughout the performance. However, if I am performing for someone I've never met or don't know well, I don't do anything fancy, in fact I act as though I really don't know what I am doing, and will even drop a card or two while shuffling to give the impression that I am not skilled with playing cards, which lowers their guard, and allows me to do riskier moves because I know that they aren't expecting anything good from me. Then I can really blow their minds with my magic. If I do any fancy flourishes for them, then they will think of me as someone with incredible skill and control with a deck, and are going to look at what I'm doing much closer. I honestly have no problem with flourishes in a performance, but it's just not my style personally.
alex you are one of my raw model in card magic my humble opinion as a beginer using this kind of advanced technics should be used in a moderate way which means florish should be used inside the trick you are playing without saying here is coming of florish technique which will leave the audience effected about how you get their card and how you master the deck at your hands hope to be in your level one day and always wish for you the best keep it up body to.learn more from you 😍
If I could only do one card flourish, it would be this damn hot shot cut! IT has eluded me for years! Thanks for the great tutorial! I may just lock this thing down now 👍
Alex,I realised after commenting on one of your previous vids(one handed shuffle) that I was about two years late by the time I'd watched it.I would like to reiterate my earlier remarks about trying to figure out why I was having so much trouble with even the most basic of card moves(two handed riffle shuffle, scissor cut, and revolution cut.when tousaud it took you only 10hours to learn the basics of the move and that it wouldn't take weeks or months, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.I'm a dedicated amateur who just loves the simple beauty of sleight card moves, and am mystified as to why I have so much trouble with simple stuff. Here again I know my hands are not to small, and I'm not stupid or lazy....is there such a thing as a person who will never be able to enjoy doing these moves?I try very hard and long, but after months still fail miserably(see my earlier rants on this subject)Have you ever seen this kind of ineptitude before?(I don't feel that blaming the card quality is the answer, but I don't know what is.If you have any thoughts on this matter I would love to hear from you(I don't have instagram or Facebook so emails or RUclips are my only way of accessing internet on my old iPhone and then chrome-casting to my tvI keep thinking I must be missing something. Since I don't need to perform professionally, and I live in New Zealand,I use only cash and can't easily find good quality cards, but I would be SO happy to be just one of those people who could achieve skills by hard work--this doesn't seem to work for me.Love watching your stuff Alex, and always enjoy your videos on RUclips but get a bit down when you say things like "oh, anyone can do this move with a bit of practice" I know you're being sincere but it never seems to work for me. Your thoughts if you can be bothered..
Hey Alex, your content is awesome. Any tips on getting the two packets to align when completing the cut in preparation for the Hotshot. I can do the moves but when I bring the packets together they are nowhere near aligned and often end up really high in the hand. Help very much appreciated.
Lately, I’ve been subscribing more to Daniel Madison’s Soap Theory (or Dirty Ba$tard Theory) and the idea that the more ordinary you appear as a performer, both in how you look and how you comport yourself with a deck of cards, the greater the illusion that what you’re doing is real magic. Flourishes are great, and I still practice them all the time (mostly as a meditative or fidgety thing to do when my ADHD kicks into high gear) but even if a participant can’t explain precisely how you did an effect, if they see that you’re better than average, or even amazing at handling a deck of cards, they can and will safely assume that that same flashy skill was used to fool them, instead of blocking off more false solutions to lead them down the Magic Way, as Juan Tamariz describes it. Then again, maybe your character benefits from a number of skillful flourishes. If you present yourself as some kind of card shark, flourishes may be integral into establishing credibility. All I know is, I’ve done a lot of them in my time, I’ve enjoyed the wide eyed looks and applause, and now I’m doing things a bit differently. To each their own.
Hello alex, I'm a big fan of you nd from India 😊. You are fab bro.. Its fun to watch you doing tricks.. And I'm trying to learn your tricks and it is so much fun.. Thanku so much
My first teacher told me exactly what you said about starting with flourishes so I never bothered learn them. Thanks to lockdown (house arrest) I got some time to learn a few. When I've mastered this I won't have to learn any more tricks!
Nice beats man👌 My answer to your question would be the 50k by Chris Ramsay, simply because it is like a beginner type of flourish. Btw, my hands really hurt right now because of the flourish. But thanks for it.
This was such a coincidence because I just watched Daniel Madison’s tutorial on the Blackout Shift and they are both based off of the same principal. Also, great teaching Alex!
The one flourish should be fanning, as it is so much versatile which can be incorporate into control, change and switch. Flourish can always be incorporate into ones' routine as long as we can give a story and meaning to it.
The palming off of a spring isn’t very useful and is super fishy especially around people that know anything about cards at all I stopped doing it almost 15 years ago there’s much better palms. And for flourishes a one handed fan is much more useful for steals, controls, palms, and positioning compared to the like 3 things I know of that can be done with a spring I have over a dozen thingngs that can be done with a one handed smear fan.
@@weemanling While that is true, magic and sleight of hand is a visual art, and as such, the cards that you perform with should be visually pleasing as well, to enhance the overall beauty of the performance. I wouldn't ever perform with a deck of bicycles due to how standard they are, but I also wouldn't perform with a $30 deck of cards with gold foil and whatnot. It's important to find a good balance of beauty and simplicity when getting a deck of cards to perform with, which is why the NOCs are so great. I personally would go with the Summer NOCs.
Hi , my name is Ashmita Khamroi , I am from INDIA , West bengal. I am 14 years old and i want to be a magician . Thanks a lot for making this videos , I watch all of them and I show magic in my school .etc..... Thanks a lot.
You need to bend it because you do it the (unnecessarily) hard way. Try using the middle finger and not the first finger on the opposite side of the thumb. You can use the first finger to stabilize the deck on the short side, when grabbing the top package. This was you won't hurt your fingers. Much easier.
Love this channel a lot... I am now an intermediate magician because of the way Alex breaks stuff down to simpler forms.... but this channel desperately needs a FRIGGIN' INTRO (yo yo yo is not an intro; that's what you can say AFTER the intro.) Please get a good intro Alex. 😎😄😅🥺 Even some music in the start when giving an awesome clip (which you already have) of the performance will do (for example Shin Lim's channel) or like a PROPER intro (for example Spidey Hypnosis's channel). Just a suggestion for your channel. 🤷🏼♂️ Btw, I feel that if there was one flourish that I could do for the rest of my fife, in every trick, it would be WINDCHILL FLOURISH. I feel that flourishes should be done after tricks because it adds to the awesome end effect of the trick and shocks the audience even more.
If I could only do one flourish it would probably be the sybil cut because its a nice looking false cut that is pretty easy to perform yet seems very complex when done properly or i would just pick the werm for the nice display also because you can have a card face up as the middle card for the werm which is a nice reveal
I remember seeing David Blaine do this cut on his first ever tv special (many moons ago) I watched it over and over and copied everything he did until one day it happened. Result 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for sparking ideas for a semi original flourish: 3pac sakur but instead of doing the one hand cut you go strait into this hot shot routine. BTW if you want a tutorial tell me and I’ll put it on my channel
Thank you Alex for making me want to punch myself in the face. I'll keep trying but my first couple attempts may have set card manipulation back 200 years. Lol. Great tutorial man as always. Thnks

THANK YOU
Splash is my favorite to use in card magic, its super simple and they get to see their card all the way into "the middle" of the deck
Tried to do it with my credit card, I'm homeless now
Lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I would definitely do the Top Shot because it is an awesome flourish and a way to reveal a card. I also learned a lot and improved it since your last tutorial. Thanks :)

Keep it up Alex!

great video, if I could only use one flourish it would be the top shot
Very interesting tips at the end, great video Alex!
Here is a simple way to avoid having to stretch your fingers or bend the cards: ruclips.net/video/t7EXrcjuxHE/видео.html

I would do a cut like sybil or crawl or maybe the hot shot cut
oh maybe benzais spin out too
Alex pandriya you are the best😍

You nailed again master 😁
Love the tutorials thanks Alex🤘🤘
4:44... That Omega Speedy ‘tho!!!
its not a real flourish but my favorite its the dinamo shuffle
I have learned 3 magic tricks from your video
This cut continues to confound me. Tried learning it from the Rise Magic channel, no luck yet. I shall soldier on!
Same for me. I will get it someday. 😡😭
Thanks so much, Alex 🙂🙏

One vote for summer noc

Yep, "Cordvision" just commented with a video link a few minutes earlier explaining exactly that....
@@michaelalthaus33 Oh, cool! I wasn't sure if I could explain well, English is not my mother tounge.

Maybe I’m a bit lame but the way I go is if I’m going to use a set up or a gaff I flourish and the opposite wig j am doing a pure sleight based trick.
I would do the "3pack sakur" because its simple I can do it smoothly and I LOVE it (credits to Chris ramsay)
