    The Top Shot is a neat card shooting technique from Lennart Green. The card shoots out very fast, turns face up, and lands in your opposite hand. It can be used as a flourish or a production.

    Just a few tips for some people after finally being able to do this three days later!
    1) Don't grip the cards too hard or try to put too much power with the pinky/thumb. In fact, the grip should be relatively light (like holding a cellphone) and the flicking motion relatively smooth. (My hand was quite sore the first day from doing this incorrectly)
    2) When I first began doing this, I put too much emphasis on to the top left corner with my thumb. All the power should come from the pinky flicking motion and the thumb merely being the trigger-ish thing that helps build up the force (thumb pushes down on the cards only slightly).
    3) If your cards tend to fly out in clumps, try moving the card a millimeter or two to the right with your pinky in order to separate the top card from the ones underneath. However, I think this was only necessary for me with my pack of cards and will likely not have to do this after more practice.

      +Here is my Name I agree . My tip is to just to use the thumb as like a stabilizer and not put to pressure on it . And let your pinky pull it .And when there is enough force the card would pop by itself

      +Here is my Name Something else I found while practicing - it works better for me if I pause just for a bit before the card flips off the deck before flicking it. I suppose in front of spectators I could use that half a second as misdirection in an act.

    Without question the best top shot tutorial on youtube. FANTASTIC. I've been trying this trick for two days and it was getting very frustrating until you explain the details. Finger can't be dry, muscles will begin to cramp, pack needs to be readjusted at first, the less cards the harder it gets etc. BRAVO! Thank you very much. Liking, subscribing and hitting the bell.

    This felt super unnatural at first, but what I found really helpful was to just spam the shit out of it, whether they flew or just dropped, whether it was one card or 5 at a time, just go crazy, and after a few decks of shots I got it to a manageable level. Hopefully someone else finds this helpful.
    Thanks, Asad, for yet another great tutorial, I really like this one :)

    I GOT IT! Here's the secret: cannot overstate the importance wetting the little finger (pinkie). Saliva works great, but it's a little unceremonious to LICK your pinkie in the middle of a performance. I haven't found an alternative solution in case someone else has, please let me know (private message or reply to this email).
    Also, there's a critical point where the top card is bowed as your pinkie pulls it off the deck, you need to release at just the right time and the card will spring out on it's own power. Like magic, heh-heh.
    You are a rare breed, young man, for making all of these excellent tutorials that you make, as far as I can tell, purely for helping others learn magic. Thank You!!

      Some magicians actually use a small wet sponge which they keep in their pocket. Not sure if you've seen checkout clerks at your local grocer? But they have them to assist with separating plastic carry bags.

    After failing to find this tutorial, I came up with a different technique. I shoot the cards from a mechanic's grip (resting my thumb on the deck) by flicking the top card with my middle finger while applying counter pressure with the bases of my index finger and pinky.
    I love your tutorials!

  • @ponodoro
    @ponodoro 12 лет назад +1

    i saw anothers tutorials of this and i coudnt do anything. i have watched this video and i got it after 10min trying. thanks you man! and i realize that the most important thing is the grip!

  • @PatrickVarnavas
    @PatrickVarnavas 12 лет назад +2

    If you're ending up with a Cardini change motion, then you are simply pulling the card down and not away. To make the card fly off the top, you need to grip the card with a slight pressure and then basically open your pinky and ring fingers rather then apply pressure downwards. The outward motion is what shoots the card, not the pressure.

    Hey Asad, I think you need to mention how much pressure you need with the thumb and the 4th finger. It took around 3 days of experimenting to figure out how to do it. The position of the finger position was clear, its just the correct pressure is difficult to judge. Thanks for the video and all your tutorials none the less :)

    A tip for everyone struggling to shoot the card: you don't need to apply a lot of pressure with your pinkie.

  • @ancientbehemoth6448
    @ancientbehemoth6448 11 лет назад +1

    The middle finger is the key! It works like a trigger and in the same time is crucial to be at least half open.So focus on opening(stretching forward)the middle finger right before you pull the card down with the pinkie.Also don't forget to put a little pressure with the thumb.If you shoot more than one card,especially if you shoot half of the deck it is because you let go the thumb pressure and doing so releases not only one but many cards.Practice extending the middle finger,it comes naturally

    I've been doing this move poorly since I started learning. It finally occurred to me to check for this tutorial on 52Kards-- I can't believe I didn't come here first. After watching Asad's explanation, I was able to nail this move after only a couple tries.
    My mistakes:
    1. Relying too much on the pinky. The ring finger really helps to stabilize the shot.
    2. Trying to do the move too hard/too fast. It really doesn't require much strength to make it work/look good. In fact, if it's too fast, it becomes really difficult to catch the card with the other hand.

  • @52kards
    @52kards  12 лет назад +3

    @jimmygee5 This usually happens when you haven't moved your pinky out of the way after the flick. Try pulling your pinky down lower and more quickly.

    Figured id comment cuz i had a reallly hard time shooting the card.
    I got the grip amd motion down but couldnt project the card at all! It kept getting stuck in my fingers every time!
    I have smaller hands so it seemed like i didnt had enough power using my pinky. BUTTTTTT it turns out that i had my pinky to far onto the card!!
    You just need the very tip of your pinky on the corner and grip the top of the deck real good with thumb and index. As soon as you pull down with your pinky itll shoot out nicee.
    Also i noticed it to be fluent when using my pinky and my ring finger at the same time. And when the deck gets abiut half full..using only the ring finger worked better.
    Hope this helps! Its super exciting when you finally get it!

  • @hardfugoo1
    @hardfugoo1 11 лет назад +1

    Tip to anyone having trouble... trying holding the deck only with the index finger and push your middle finger as close to it as possible, without it contacting the deck. Then focus on only using the pinky at that point. It's much easier to get just the ring finger out of the way than trying to adjust the positions of all your fingers at once.
