Looks so good, especially the mash. We always used to give my Mum a hard time when she made Shepherd's Pie with beef, shepherds tend sheep not cows, with beef it is a Cottage Pie, I think that is a win for the UK 🤣. Regardless it was always delicious as I imagine yours will be :) An English take is also to add baked beans if you are making a tomato based version. I am enjoying the addition of chorizo to many dishes as well.

I visited Portugal in 1978, and was impressed with the good food. Though most of the time, I ate seafood and fish, and only meat a few times.

It's not Shephard's pie, it's Cottage Pie. Shephard Pie is made with lamb, not beef. Hence the name Shephard.
