Good on Tim Pierce. Good on Rockett & good on you Shawn - still great after all these years. In this time of Covid-19, the very best to U & FAMILY from Down Under, NZ. Keep up the SUPERB work. pcHux.
I finally ordered one of these pedals tonight. I've always been a huge Tim Pierce fan, since discovering him with Rick SPringfield in the 80's. You're a killer player, as well...I might be "borrowing" some of your licks in this video, thanks.
I got a kick out of this one. Have used the pedal but mainly because I've probably watched 40 or 50 of your demos, which are typically superb, and accidentally stumble across this one, apparently your first. It's like seeing someone you know well as an adult when they were younger. Best wishes.
Very good demo of this great pedal, thanks. The Tim Pierce pedal arrived today and I was able to play with it for a while. It sounds uniquely dynamic, versatile, transparent and warm without droning over everything in the band structure. As a guitar teacher I had quite a few overdrive pedals. Personally, I prefer 2 Timmy overdrives which I stack. About my Blues Junior III, the 2 Timmys just sounds more open than the combination of Tim Pierce and Timmy. Paul Cochrane's Timmy overdrive is the king of overdrives when it comes to transparency!
Great demo & pedal. I use the OD side on about 40% into my Peavey Classic 20 on clean for most songs, using the volume control to contour. I've got a Mad Professor before it to push that little bit more and both feed into a J Rockett Dude pedal, going the Tom Bukovac multiple stages of low gain route. I use the Power Amp for a clean boost, especially when using the piezo blend on my Duesenberg Alliance Tom Bukovac guitar
Great playing and great tone. Very articulate demo, however (knew there had to be a "however" huh?) When you demo an OD pedal into an amp close to or at breakup, it really doesn't show the pedal as much as the combination of both overdriven tones. Perhaps in the future consider additionally cleaning up the amp for those of us that may choose to use it in a clean amp Once again, stellar job!
Very nice review. Thanks. I do have a suggestion or two just based on my needs. Your "clean tone" coming out of the Suhr in the beginning was not what I consider a clean tone. It was already somewhat overdriven from the amp. I could still hear the effect of the pedal. It would be nice to hear the boost on a really clean guitar signal. (maybe even using an acoustic for the clean boost demo. I would also encourage you to upload your videos at 720p. The quality in both audio and video would be so much better and do justice to your great playing. I know I would appreciate it if you would mention what the pedal retails for. Also, I'd like to know if a pedal will run on a battery, AC adapter or either one. These suggestions are only meant to make your very good videos even greater. Thanks for doing this. Keep them coming!
Hey Steve, thanks for the suggestions I'll work on that though keep in mind that this was my first attempt. In general I won't detail the price of a product I'm demoing unless specifically asked to do so by the manufacturer. It does run on either 9v batt or DC power. Please go to rockettpedals.com to answer all questions you may have concerning the Tim Pierce OD.
thorough run down on a sweet lil device! Good idea on a series too, useful for all comers. Seem like a pretty cool uncle too! Much love and rspct frm Anaheim \w/ -.- \w/
Surprised to read this was your first Demo, you seem so relaxed in front of the Camera, how do you manage that? Also, I noticed you had the 11R on at the start, then not. Do you still use it for anything, if so what, given you have all the other tasty gear? Thanks man..
+Michael Reis I actually still record with that Eleven Rack quite a bit. If I need to knock out a track quickly I'll fire it up. The tweed sounds are great on it.
That is an old Napa Style box. It was given to me as a gift from a dear friend. I cook quite a bit and it had several different salts in it. When I finally finished off all of that great salt I decided to use the cool box for storage.
Ohhh man, your sound and video are great but if you're doing a demo of an distortion or OD pedal, you don't start by having your amp dialed with some OD already. I would love to hear the demo with a clean amp or at least an amp at the edge of breakup. Rockett pedals make killer stuff....
Killer tone and playing Shawn. You should really let loose on the next one and completely blow us away! Thanks for the great review as well.
Every morning that begins with a Shawn Tubbs Video is a good morning :-)
Really good, helpful demo!
Watched your review and ordered the pedal immediately! Great Job, Shawn!
So glad I was able to help you narrow down a pedal! Thanks!!

Thanks so much! I hope all is well for you and your family in NZ!
Great quality demos...and quality playing too!. That Badger 30 sounds great without pedals
Just ordered mine looking forward to playing just like Tim......been wanting it for awhile.
Just discovered your channel Shaun - great stuff. Subd and liked!

Thanks so much! You'll love it! I think it's one of the best pedals they make!
Sounds great Shawn! Killer job.
Thanks Matt!
I love this pedal. I use it for just medium crunch mostly. And I do have a Naylor SD60 which is truly a unique amp, very underrated IMO.
Yeah man...sounds great Shawn, bravo!
Thanks Man!!!

+Jeff Bateman Thanks Jeff! This was the first demo I did.

Enjoyed your video - killer tone, I get the impression you can make just about any rig sound good -
+William Boyer Thanks William you're very kind.
Excellent job man!!!!
Thanks Javier!

Reminds me of the flex drive.
7:34 sounds like a Johnny Hiland lick. Great demo!
Thanks for the demo, I hope you do many more. :)
Would be helpful to have the clean tone be clean so that it's more evident what is being added.
Robert Stapleton Thanks Robert I appreciate it.
Well done review/.
Great demo
Thanks very much!

Hey Shawn great demo and great playing. If you had to choose between the tim pierce od and the Blue note od which would it be?
Best regards.
thorough run down on a sweet lil device! Good idea on a series too, useful for all comers. Seem like a pretty cool uncle too! Much love and rspct frm Anaheim \w/ -.- \w/
It would be cool if we could take a step back in time and you could show the
"Save Us Oh GOD" solo...
Surprised to read this was your first Demo, you seem so relaxed in front of the Camera, how do you manage that? Also, I noticed you had the 11R on at the start, then not. Do you still use it for anything, if so what, given you have all the other tasty gear? Thanks man..

Videos in HD please !
I just cant let go off this pedal on my board.
Nice video, but your clean tone isn't clean, it's a mild drive. I'd like to have heard how the pedal changes a clean sound.
what is the box back there holding your slides and capos and such?
That is an old Napa Style box. It was given to me as a gift from a dear friend. I cook quite a bit and it had several different salts in it. When I finally finished off all of that great salt I decided to use the cool box for storage.
hey shawn did you play in the stone temple pilots unplugged live show?
+Katie Marshall Hi Katie, Yes that was me all those years ago. I went to high school with Scott.
+Shawn Tubbs And your brother on percussion
Yeah Lonnie and I were both on that one. ;)
Nice PRS gold top
Thanks...Yeah I really like that one.
Shaun over here looks like the actor in Arrow (the tv show) lol

Thanks for the comment Arnold.
Is there a review on this pedal that isNOT on a boutique amp and guitar?
PRS is boutique?
Well to me it is. I just wish I could hear it on a 500 buck start and a fender twin
+Bflatest so... Buy the pedal and play it through a $500 Strat and a Fender Twin. If you don't like it, sell it. That's the cost of "chasing tone."
I've got to stop watching you demo pedals. You make them sound so good, I buy them and they never sound quite the same when I play them.
yo man your the guy who played for STP unplugged
+James Crawley Long time ago:)
+Shawn Tubbs awesome
I reckon' these might be a bit underrated.
Yeah for sure.
Have you ever heard of Doug Rappaport?
Yes! He's one of my favorite players.
hello Shawn tubbs, from ohio "jayse tubbs, frankie j myers, Matt gibson.. :))
HEY!!
Hey shawn, how's it going?
good demo, but your vocal audio is way lower than guitar vol
Thanks man. Yes this was my very first attempt at a video demo. Learning as I go.... Thanks again.
