This is how I refinished a dresser that was thrifted for $80 into a mid-century modern piece, which I was then able to sell on Facebook Marketplace for $800.

You think the way I do. I have used my leftover chalk paints as primers. The chalk paint has great tooth for other paints to adhere well.

I absolutely adore the blue colour. Here in the uk I’ve seen a few makeovers using this and darker blues with gold or copper accents which looks stunning.

If some of the walnut was in good condition, the flat drawer fronts for example, consider just stain and clear coat instead of paint. Walnut is sought after. Beautiful job regardless and stellar editing.

Is the Navy paint also Rust-oleum Chalked? I saw the gray in the list of products, but not the navy. This is just gorgeous and I really want to recreate the exact look. You did a great job.
The navy paint used was a latex paint! The color is "Hale Navy" by Benjamin Moore in eggshell finish.

Chalk paint I have used for many years. I intuitively prepared it myself. After that I saw that someone in another country thought of ... patenting a similar mixture and that it appeared in commerce.
(Read the label and see the composition).
I instead of chalk powder put pigment powder + slaked lime powder.
In the 19th century and earlier household furniture was sometimes coloured with ... a solution with potato starch and pigment as raw material.

If the color was a yellow green and the handles were bamboo, it would look crazy good.

Also I notice you use a gravity feed gun. Can I please ask how much water you use to the clear?
I don’t usually mix the poly with water but if your poly is too thick (and depending on your spray gun) you could thin it by adding some water but should be no more than 10% 😊

I do love a painted mid century modern piece retaining timber highlights. I think your colour choice is excellent if I had as criticism it was staining the wood handles but a light raw colour is just my personal preference

Hi, very good job!! May i ask wich kind of wood this is and wiche type of sand paper you used to sand it the first time?
Thank you 😁 The dresser was made of walnut wood, and it was sanded using 150 grit sand paper. Since I was painting it, it was not necessary to completely smooth out the grains with a finer sand paper.
