It's been a while since I've done a makeover with painting involved. This headboard was actually 100% solid wood, so I heavily contemplated NOT painting it, but the grain wasn't particularly amazing, plus the painted look really gives it a modern look -- after all, the channel IS called Modern Makeovers.
Let me know what you thought of this one! I appreciate the support :)
Also, as mentioned in this video, I just opened up my merchandise store!! I'm planning on working on more designs that I personally love, so please check it out and stay tuned for more :)

Man, your camera work is so freaking original, I love it. Great makeovers too, by the way!
Yessss! The way the camera came down the garage door? That’s art. ART!
I agree so much. This guy needs to go professional in directing movies!!
@@jamiek2288 came here to say this. that was so sick.
I am impressed on how organized your shop is ..kudos
I agree
Well done, and keep saving the scrap wood. Better in your hands than a Landfill, and it gets a chance for a cool new life in one of your creations.
Is there such a thing as too much scrap wood? 🤔
@@lilithanne5506
I seriously don’t think so! 😅
This isn't just beautiful, it would be a really practical piece in a narrow hallway to hold keys, mail, purse, wallet, etc -- all the stuff you drop or pick up as you enter and leave your house. And it really is stunning, I love the charcoal gray with the dark wood.
That was exactly what I had in mind! It was the perfect size for a hallway console :D
I was just saying to myself this weekend " I miss Andy " and poof there you are.
I love this bc you took this and made it something spectacular, love the way your brain works.
😉 Thank you!
This deserves a "like" for the shot of the cardinal couple alone, never mind the humor, excellent editing, and superior finished product! 👍
I didn't see the female. Looked for her knowing they travel together. Will have to watch again to find her.
@@lindam4006 She flies to the fence from behind the tree at 6:09
All of the above ❤
I love to see you create modern art work of your own. It is very beautiful and inspiring.
I have only watched you for the first time really enjoyed your video. I am now a subscriber enjoyed it alot
This man. He's hardworking, talented, innovative, jacked, has an adorably subtle sense of humor, has an extremely nice voice, and is attractive.
Basically, he's the whole package. My standards are irrevocably elevated. Men like this are hard to come by these days. 🙃
🥰 Thank you
@@ModernMakeovers Just stating the truth. ❤️😊 Now I just need to find a guy like you for myself 🫣
I like your vids. No music , relax and very nice job
You build nice furniture with nothing
Sustainability first
It's always a pleasure to watch you transform ordinary pieces of furniture into designer pieces, very tasteful and perfectionist.
When I was a teenage girl I used to watch my dad carpenting. I helped him a lot with his work. He passed away several years ago. Now I enjoy watching other professionals. I do love your work. The way you touch the wood, move your hand when painting, your attention to the details. My heart absolutely melted when I saw the handles and figurines of dachshunds. I had a dachshund myself. Now I have a great collection of figurines of these dogs. Thank you very much for your video! It reminds me of my dad and my dog. ❤
I AM SO SORRY 😥❤👍😢
Just cried reading your comment, ❤ it was much the same for me, and how much I also loved helping my father and learning things. I wish I could have learnt more from him and have found these videos quite wonderful to watch. As a child I was so ever keen to be there watching Dad closely as every important detail unfolded into what I saw as perfection driven by the patience and love only an artist can feel. Those memories are a great thing in my life, as are yours too. 😊
1:29 I think this is your most impressive shot yet. The timing of when you walked in front of the mirror and everything was brilliant!
I was about to comment the same thing. Damn clever camera work there.
Your videos really are some of the best furniture restoration/makeover videos currently around!
always love seeing how your mind works as it deconstructs and reconstructs. i also appreciate how tidy you keep your workspace.
You are so organized. It is bliss to watch everything you do , plus the bird on the fence...
why am i kind of in love with this guy
Your work is so meticulous. And your aesthetic is always so flawless to me. Stunning console, imaginative re-purposing yet again. Once again you're demonstrating that less is more in design. So classy. ❤
honestly, i don't really mind wether you paint your pieces or not. your pieces are always very pretty, so i know you'll make the best choice! i'm just here for the ride and enjoy the process lol
as always, great job!
I really like when you make your own pulls, no need to buy hardware! 👏🏻
...and I love how the colour of these pulls tie in the entire piece.
Another stunning piece and LOVE those little handles! ❤
As someone else remarked, I just today noticed your ring and realized that you are an engineer. Your creativity coupled with that discipline explains a great deal about the quality and the simplicity of both your designs and your work. Also about your eye for detail, and your obvious appreciation of nature. This was to my mind the most expressive of your projects that I have seen. Using the headboard was really just a shortcut, not a makeover, and the outcome is all original. Beautiful piece of work! 💕🇨🇦
(Sorry, I don't understand how the ring and the engineering are connected? Is it some kind of graduation ring? 😮)
@@granny-nyan in Canada a Professional Engineer receives an iron ring upon certification to symbolize both entry into the profession and the responsibility being an engineer entails. The original rings were made of iron salvaged from a fatal and catastrophic bridge collapse in Quebec. Nowadays, the rings are still iron but not so exotically sourced. 💕🇨🇦
@@granny-nyan I believe it's only a Canadian thing. He is wearing an Iron Ring, which is only for engineering students when they are about to graduate from an engineering program. It symbolizes the responsibility professional engineers have and the pride they have in doing that. If you look up "Iron Ring" you'll find more info on it.
@@granny-nyan I think it's called the Iron ring worn by Canadian engineers
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Ring
@@granny-nyanI didn’t understand either but after quick Google search, it appears to be a Canadian where the iron ring is presented to engineering graduates in a private ceremony
Your vision and the work you do to make it happen is just so impressive!
Wow, incredible transformation as always!
your videography and your work are brilliant and we just love your channel.... peace and love from Hawaii. aloha!
This came out beautifully. An amazing transformation and interesting process. 👍
The shot with the garage door closing? genius 🔥
Pretty low bar for ‘genius’. Shows how mediocre you are
Wow what a great looking piece.those knobs have an oriental look to them. Great work!
❤ you made again the most wonderful thing.🥰🥰🥰
I love the way you joined the wood pieces of the frame together, like Tetris pieces! Incredible work. ❤
Beautiful and creative project, I like this piece a lot. Thanks for the video
I love watching your videos, to see your videography and what your gonna build. As always your piece is amazing, I love the transformation. Take care.
Beautiful!
Everything about this was amazing! Your creativity is always impressive. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Oh and I'm so glad you had hoodies too! Can't wait to get them. ❤️🔥
Thank you 🙏
Oh man have I been excited for an update. Bet it’s gonna be a great watch 🙌
Superb videos 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 you are very talented for such a young man 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You my friend are a superhero!! There is not one makeover that I have not loved!! Your work is stunning. Of course your camera work, editing and nature shots are all exemplary as well. I am so happy for you on opening a shop!! Congratulations you absolutely deserve it. I’m going to go check it out right now. Can’t wait to see your next video ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing final result! Love your channel. I have a similar one where I refinish and restore furniture. Absolutly loves it 🙏🏻
Not only are your makeovers always perfect and beautiful, but your garden is gorgeous too. I Love Hostas but cannot grow them in Texas, too hot.
Great work and great videos.Thank you for posting your work.
Really interesting design, and I love the handles. I was one of those who wanted you to stain the doors instead of painting 😂 but only having the handles stained looks much better; sleeker, tidier, and the handle design is more of a feature. You always make the right decision when it comes to your design choices.
Sir, you made one gorgeous piece of furniture! And the presentation is perfect as always! Well done!
My parents had a headboard just like that! Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Wow!! Good Job!
Всегда интересные идеи и путь их воплощения. 😃 Как приходят такие идеи?! Откуда черпаете вдохновение сэр?!
Andy -- I am in awe. I could not do what you do if my life depended on it. But I sure know when something is good, when something is done right, when something has that indefinable thing musicians call "soul." You've got it, sir...all the way up and down. Your filmmaking skills are phenomenal. The way you butted your Temu promo into your woodworking was quite, quite good -- and I darn near ALWAYS FF through promotional msgs. (I worked in advertising for YEARS, so I've seen all the promos I'll ever need to see, really...) Thanks for another great vid...now, my Friday is off to a mellow start -- and as Martha Stewart would say, "That's a good thing." I'm headed to your new shop to pick up a T. Late...
Wow, thank you so much for the very kind comment, I appreciate you ❤️❤️
That is truly a work of ingenious art and talent. Your videos make my day. Thanks for sharing.
very chic! i like the contrast btw the rounded and hard edges :)
As usual, really every time, another stunning work of art. You are so talented and I appreciate you sharing with all of us, watching you work is an absolute pleasure. Take care, stay safe.
"I want to make something cool and modern" yeah, becuase this is Modern Makeovers lol. Please send that rain to Texas!! 😭 I will definitely be checking out your site. This looks awesome, as usual!! 🤩
Stunning work as always. I love it!
Not obsessive at all! Completely practical because wood is so darn expensive. You have all those straight pieces that you got for next to nothing - or free - that would cost a fortune at a big box store or couldn't find as usually you have to hunt and go through stacks of pieces to find one that isn't dinged, damaged, splintered or mangled. Love the design of this piece of furniture ... you are brilliant!
I remember having a headboard with those sliding panels like that back in the early 1970s!
What you turned it into was pure artistry!
Well done!
Oh my gosh! Yet another great makeover! I'm running out of ways to compliment you. Such an artist. Bravo!
C’est toujours impressionnant de voir tes réalisations. J'adore la mise en scène et les plans que tu choisis pour ta vidéo.
Le résultat est impressionnant!!!!!!!! 🤩
Stunning piece!
It's magnificent!❤
I really enjoy your videos and your amazing creativity. Don't worry about obsessively collecting all that wood. Most creative people do that kind of thing. In the knitting/crochet world there is the acronym SABLE. Stash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy. It's normal believe me! 😀
Great work as always 💪 best regards from Sweden 🙂
THIS CAME OUT so amazing !!!!!!!!!! wow, great job , outstanding
Wooow! Love the final product, and your camera work especially in this video.
Your videos are contemplative pieces of art...from the filming and editing...the sounds...and the refashioned, refurbished furniture design. Its all so beautifully orchestrated. Never a disappointment. One of my favorite channels in this genre. BTW...really appreciated the plug for TEMO...discoved them awhile back, and was sceptical because of the ridiculously low prices with FREE shipping, but ive been happy with my purchases, and your plug only confirms. Thanks again for another very satisfying upload. ❤
ÇOK GÜZEL BİR İŞÇİLİK 👍
I want to create little people to perform on the stage or hang mini works of art…perhaps a small railing that’s silhouettes of the audience’s heads. Your work is so inspiring
this piece is so cool, I love your creativity.
Incredible makeover and video! I really liked the handles! Also i love your text, it feels friendly and easy to connect with. After watching your for at least a year now, I feel like I'm catching up with a friend when you post, not just watching an awesome video. Keep it up!
Amazing work, I would love to know how you acquired such making knowledge and skills. Really love your quirky and unique camera work also!
This piece of furniture makes a great entry hall unit.
Amazing! I love anyone who can work with wood. There’s just something about the “feel” of it. Your skills and design talent are extraordinary! Thanks for the enjoyment. ☘️
Beautiful craftsmanship. Thank you
Nice work!!
There is so much passion in your videos for so many aspects of the process (the design, sourcing materials, video- and sound editing, translating the meditative state that occurs with focused but repetitive work to the screen...). And, they are so educational! (I'm constantly making mental notes). You make a great teacher.
But I think most of all, I am fascinated by the ingenuity of your workshop! So practical and logical, even though it's filled to the brim.
oh I love this. The handles are wonderful. I had a similar bed frame as a child....nice to see what you did with it.
I'm grateful to see this video as I have a bed with a similar head board that I've been trying to decide what to do with it. Thanks for the inspiration.
Andy, I just figured that you are an engineer! This piece is absolutely stunning. You did a fabulous job and I loved the process.:))
Innovative and beautiful transformation. I always love the production quality of your videos.
As to obsessively saving supplies- the only way that is a problem, if you never use the supplies, and you run out of room to store them. If you run out of room, you force yourself to go through the entire storage of supplies. You will find things you have forgotten, and you will re-evaluate what should be removed. Be ruthless with what you remove, so you have room to store things in the near future, that you acquire.
Our rule of thumb: if you haven't used something within 2 years, it's time for it to go. Either it wasn't impressive enough to stay in your mind, or it was going to be too much work to get it into a useable shape. Or that grouping of supplies was problematic in some other way.
After that: you have many choices in what you can to with those removed supplies.
*You can 'casually' assemble some storage boxes... or book shelves... or little tables.... The key is to NOT put too much effort into these projects and sell them at a low price point.
*You can gather up the better quality pieces into 'lots' and sell them cheap at Online Market places.
*The utilitarian pieces or low quality stuff, give that away.
You should really do this Storage Clean Out every two years, or every year, if your storage area keeps filling up.
Your up closeness with the camera is top notch. Your precise hand movements! The silence is appreciated, then comes Sound of a workman. Nice.
Thank you for your channel.
Young man you are amazing. Woweee. Yes I love the tshirt. The reveal is always so exciting. What an artist you are. Love your channel
Super nice 👍🏻 love the lights
Another great vid, your editing style is my favourite of any person on RUclips!
Absolutely wonder transformation and workmanship !
It's so an eleg😢ant style. I enjoy it. The led-spots giving an artful shadow.
Your talent and vision is rare. A true gift.
I love the deconstructing/reconstructing because no one can do it like you, Andy! You never cease to amaze me.👏🏼
Quality work!
beautiful job.. thank you
garage door shot was next level Breaking Bad type stuff. great work
Man, not in a million years I would get a straight free hand cut with a Dremel Ultra saw! I always use the top grip handle for safety. I can say you are an "expert".
Loved the t-shirt! Michelangelo would be proud.
The end result was beautiful. The handles gave the piece a very nice touch. My only observation: I would have added at least 1 shelf on the lower part. It seems to me too much space was wasted there.
I'm going to check out Temu for sure. Glad you are getting sponsors.
As always your videos are so enjoyable to watch. You are an artist. Can't wait for the next one. 🤩🤩🤩
PD: Saving scrap wood is a wonderful thing!
The end result was just 👨🏻🍳💋🤌 i like the dark wood accents and the handles were very interesting. I like that you’re trying new methods to do things. It worked out well.
Bravo! Gorgeous
I get so excited when I see a new video from you. One of my favorite channels.
I am amazed at what you create. Great job!!!
Как же это красиво!!! Великолепное исполнение!
Oh those handles are so nice, wasn't expecting that. You have such great ideas, just like your shirt, I hope your business does well but I sure miss your videos 🤓👍👍
I love to repurpose everything, rather than tossing and buying new, thank you , beautiful ! You are creative !
Wow, that looks refreshingly different compared to the usual us-upcycling-videos...well done !!!
Thank for your passion and effort. Your camera work, woodworking skills and the beautiful nature backdrops are something I look forward to every time.
It's hard to describe how your videos just bring joy and peace when I watch them. And TONS of inspiration for my own projects :)
Ooo, nice yard. Yeah, as a gardener, I noticed that. Great project, by the way. And, your workshop is so neat and tidy.
Thank you!
Love that!
Black and walnut together are a beautiful combination.
The pair of cardinals are beautiful too!
Impressive as usual ! Well done and Bravo!
Oh my god, this is the most impressive and creative furniture makeover I even seen online. Such original!!
