Nice wrk on the VY matey 👍😃 Im doing same job Inlet Manifold Gaskets (ive already brought the plastic ones( i should of brought the Aluminium ones ) for my 2004 VY Calais, car is booked in tomorrow Wednesday 16th October 2024 ! Well my mechanic is doing the job( not me ) he is also replacing water pump/ thermostat, heater valve tap, dropping the old oil & replacing with fresh oil & replacing oil filter , he doing full Radiator Flush & Back flush through heater core & block & behind water pump ! Then next month money permitting he will start on front end suspension, Fulcrum Suspension did quote as did another Mechanic in my town & they were miles apart as to what i need to replace, so now 3rd time lucky 🙏 this new mechanic a mate put me in touch with will give me a more honest quote & price ! I'm sure some Mechanics & shops think we all haven't a clue about cars & parts , i didn't tell Fulcrum Suspension that ive worked on Holdens & old cars all my life , im now 59 with a spine condition that prevents me from doing the wrk myself, its funny when a Mechanic will tell me something that i know is utter bullshit 😂 so I just simply turn my back & leave his shop ! Without another word said , some shops treat us like fools , they do it with girls / women as well , they have no shame hey , there are plenty of great Mechanics out there 👍 Just have to sort the shit from the clay to find a honest work shop , loved your video & young car guys can learn from them 👍😃 Cheers from Qld 🕺🍹
Thanks for the support mate. Yeah it’s unfortunate. There’s a lot of mechanics out there that try and take people for a ride, and most of the time they get away with it!
hey mate, good tip is to cut out the centre of the thermostat, deleting it will also make it run warm when skidding as the coolant doesnt have enough time to cool down in the radiator, so if you cut the centre of it, it gives it a bit extra time to cool down
Yeah noted mate thank you. I’ve done thermostat deletes on L67 before and has worked well. But during the driving process on this car when we were running in the new diff (that episode will be out in a couple of weeks) we noticed the temp was very erratic. Even stopping at a set of lights it would get up to over half. So we have now installed a 175 degree high flow and works much better
came here to ask where you got the upgraded lower intake gaskets, but it is in your initial comments.....MACE Thanks for the vid, will assist me in doing mine!

@@cassarindustries_wheelwerk awesome mate! hope the build goes all sweet, will continue following along
Thanks so much mate. Appreciate the support
Before I put it back together should I put gasket sealant on the thermostat at the back
I normally put a very thin smear it can’t hurt. But you don’t have to. Just make sure it’s cleaned really well
@@cassarindustries_wheelwerk well I just put it on no sealant fingers crossed next is the coolant inlet
Do you just use Grey Permatex for Silicone?
Yeah mate I do, I use the CRC brand one
Thanks, got a bunch of work to do to my 3.8L V6 Ute I just got yesterday lol.@@cassarindustries_wheelwerk
