I met Rolly once, got him to sign his book, listened to some great stories, then a couple of years later visited the museum exhibit dedicated to him in Oceanside, CA. Without a doubt my favorite imagineer, if only because all the classically trained guys hated him but Walt loved him. Walt saw potential that others did not. A shame how he and Mary Blair were treated after Walt's departure but he did go on to make some really cool rides elsewhere like the Knott's Beary Tales ride. I wouldn't say that he (exactly) used ideas from the museum of the weird, but a lot of his unused ideas did end up going into that ride, especially the gypsy wagon.
Rolly Crump & Mary Blair were my favorite Imagineers, too (Team Disney Anaheim and Burbank Staff were jealous of both, because they had great relationships with Walt that did not involve getting yelled at!) Love my Rolly Book, loved that Oceanside Exhibit, too (really love what Rolly did for Knott's Berry Farm).
Is the exhibit in Oceanside still around?
I also got to visit his exhibit in Oceanside (was there for a family reunion) and fell head over heels in love with his art and designs. I now proudly own several of his doper poster prints and read everything about Rolly. What an amazing man and an incredible life.
I’m just now realizing why I’ve always been so fascinated with the Mansion; its development resembles a movie more than a ride.
Just consider all the concept art, storylines, characters, dialogue, music, special effects, set design.
It all came together over years of creativity to create something that feels so richly immersive. With the exception of Pirates, I don’t think any other original theme park attraction has come close to this masterpiece.
I would honestly still love to see a museum of the weird made!

It always fascinates me when listening to the history behind these iconic, beloved attractions at Disney. To me, it really makes you appreciate the work that goes on behind the scenes into making these attractions what they are today! #DisneyIcons 🏰✨
This is by far may favorite ride of all. This is the first and the last ride i do when i am able to visit. I can't wait to go back once everything gets back to normal. Miss you Disney❤

My favorite Disney Imagineer, Rolly Crump!! I have all of his books!! I too, would love to see the Museum of the Wierd.
It's very unfortunate that the Haunted mansion possibly may not open this year, even for the holiday overlay. I'm glad we got to see the 50th before all this happened.
It would be pretty funny if they had TWO Gingerbread houses in 2021 to make up for the lost year.
@@garrettcarter5622 that would be cool, it would also be cool if one of them was a moldy themed gingerbread house since that's in 1 year, and obviously gingerbread probably can't last that long. I don't think they would do the idea I thought of though since they go for more of a cartoon ish clean and colorful look.

The candle wax man is the coolest concept. When I saw the concept art at Disneyland last year I really thought how cool if they had gone with it.
The HM and POTC are the best two rides of DL and it's even more awesome being next to each other! 🏛⚓🏰
Haunted Mansion all time favorite ride in the world I never actually nobody get tired riding this ride such most fun right next to Pirate of Caribbean not so scary and everytime I go ride on it I take a nap so dark also every holiday they change into Nightmare Christmas which is best part ever lot great spooky decoration every year have different kind of gingerbread mansion at party room it amazing.

I wish they would have build that museum of weird. I own an oddities shop and love everything weird. This is my favorite part of Disney.
