Just watched the new movie and I gotta say its cool how they worked all elements of this attraction in the movie and build a story around it. Even the "ghosts will follow you home" part etc.
Insane level of theming. Can't believe this was made back when it opened! With how detailed and how immensely large the attraction is. Also was originally planned to be just a walkthrough with storytellers guiding you around. Glad they made it into the fun doom buggies, more personal, creepy and also somehow cozy in those buggies, haha. Also works great for being a people eater for capacity since it constantly has seats/cars flowing through the ride.
It was very scary when it first opened in the late 60s. Scared the bajezzus out of me as a young boy, but I loved it! I remember some groups tried to ban it, much like religious groups and the lot.
For those who don’t know yet: The mansion itself is just a front. The ride itself takes place in a ride building behind the mansion. You can’t see it from the park. The stretching room is really an elevator. The portrait hall is really a tunnel that goes under the train tracks. The loading dock takes you into the ride building itself. Same goes for the tunnel that takes you back to the park.
This might be my new favorite ride too, I haven't been on it since last year here in California, it was closed. If it is opened, I will definitely try it!
The special effects on The Haunted Mansion are extraordinary. I can remember going on this ride, when I was a kid and wondering how the special effects were done. This ride certainly has state-of-the-arts special effects.
The hall at 4:30 particularly spooked me as a child in the late 70s as I would be visiting my grandparents who lived near Disneyland and they had a house full of antiques and a hall just like this.
Happy Haunting Memories! One of my favorite attractions at Disneyland! My parents took me when the Haunted Mansion first opened back around 1969-1970. I remember watching The Osmonds on TV being some of the first to visit in what? 1969 or so... As a young boy of 8 years old, this scared the bejeezus out of me, the first time I experienced the attraction, but I loved it!.. 'Grim Grinning Ghosts' is one of my absolute favorite creepy songs!
This ride is amazing. Its a classic and hopefully stays that way for the future years. Thank you so much Disney for making your rides both unforgettable and amazing.
Yes, The Ghostly Hitchhikers...When you go through the mirror sequence? Man, the first time I experienced the attraction and saw the "spook" next to me? I about jumped out of my skin as a youngster in 1970! (8 years old back then!)

I rode this in Walt Disney World, got scared out of my mind, did some research and memorized the whole ride as well as the way the effects work, but still-I don’t want to go back. 😂
My daughter and I were so excited to book the ride early after we watch the fireworks. Headed there, we went inside the mansion, experienced the stretching room and were stuck in the hall way. We didn't have a chance to get on the ride and had to head out 😢. Too late to wait for another one. So thanks for this video. We may try next time when we are back.
I have only ever been to Disney during Halloween time so I have never seen this ride when it wasn’t nightmare before Christmas themed and it is equally as cool when it’s just the haunted mansion!

Ezra Bridger in the role of HatBox Ghost Sabine Wren as the Bride Hera Syndulla as Maid Waitress Kanan Jarrus as Hitchhiker Ghost Phineas Arihnda Pryce as Madame Leota Now i note that Rosario Dawson Is playing Haunted Mansion and i Imagine that Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader if they should here in Rebels season three, they will comment saying That Ezra and his crew are great to play the role of Haunted Mansion and seeing that Sabine eats the Heart of horse made by Gummy bear that Qi'ra teach her to eat It.
When hinges creak in doorless chambers, and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls. Whenever candle lights flicker where the air is deathly still - that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight! Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion. I am your host, your ghost host. Kindly step all the way in please, and make room for everyone. There’s no turning back now. Our tour begins here in this gallery, where you see paintings of some of our guests as they appeared in their corruptible, mortal state. Your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of forboding, almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis. Is this haunted room actually stretching? Or is it your imagination -hmmm? And consider this dismaying observation: this chamber has no windows and no doors…which offers you this chilling challenge: to find a way out! (Laugh). Of course there’s always my way. (Lighting)(scream) Oh, I didn’t mean to frighten you prematurely. The real chills come later. Now, as they say, “Look alive”, and we’ll continue our little tour. And let’s all stay together, please. There are several prominent ghosts who have retired here from creepy old crypts all over the world. Actually, we have 999 happy haunts here - but theres room for 1,000. Any volunteers? (Laughs). If you insist on lagging behind, you may not need to volunteer. And now, a carriage approaches to take you into the boundless realm of the supernatural. Take your loved ones by the hand, please and kindly watch your step. Oh yes, and no flash pictures, please. We spirits are frightfully sensitive to bright lights. Do not pull down on the safety bar, please. I will lower it for you. And heed this warning: the spirits will materialize only if you remain quietly seated at all times. We find it delightfully unlivable here in this ghostly retreat. Every room has wall-to-wall creeps, and hot and cold running chills, shhhh, listen! Let me out, let me out of here! (Music) (Clock) Serpents and spiders, tail of a rat, call in the spirits, wherever they’re at! Rap on a table - it’s time to respond. Send us a message from somewhere beyond…. Goblins and ghoullies from last Halloween, awaken the spirits with your tambourine! Creepies and crawlies, toads in a pond, let there be music from regions beyond! Wizards and witches, wherever you dwell, give us a hint, by ringing a bell! The happy haunts have received your sympathetic vibrations and are beginning to materialize. They’re assembling for a swinging wake, and they’ll be expecting me….i’lol see you all a little later. (Ball room organ) (Piano) (Small laugh) Here comes the bride! For better or for….worse. Well live happily ever after. Till death do us part. I do…I did! (Knife sound) When the crypt doors creak And the tombstones quake Spooks come out for a singing wake Happy haunts materialize And begin to vocalize Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize Now don't close your eyes And don't try to hide Or a silly spook may sit by your side Shrouded in a daft disguise They pretend to terrorize Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize As the moon climbs high o'er dead oak tree Spooks arrive for the midnight spree Creepy creeps with eerie eyes Start to shriek and harmonize Grim grinning ghosts come out socialize When you hear the knell of a requiem bell Weird glows gleam where spirits dwell Restles bones etherealize Rise as spooks of every size Ah, there you are! And just in time…there’s a little matter I forgot to mention - beware of hitchhiking ghosts! They have selected you to fill our quota, and they’ll haunt you until you return! Now I’ll raise the safety bar, and a ghost will follow you home! (Laughs) Worker: Please exit to your left by stepping away from the carriage with your left foot first. Step out and stand on the moving platform, please. Hurry back! Hurry back! Be sure to bring your death certificate….. if you decide to join us. Make final arrangements now! We’ve been “dying” to have you…(laugh)

When was the ectoplasm effect removed from Madame Leota's seance circle?
I only got to go to haunted mansion during the holidays so I’m curious do they play the music box song in line all year round or just holidays. Also this is my favorite ride ever! I love how spooky it is, it’s so fun I went on it multiple times because it’s my happy place.
4:40 They still haven't found a way to make the candelabra illusion work correctly. You can still tell there is a mirror and see the reflection of the candles

Are those the original animatronics, including the Hitch-Hiking Ghosts?
Ok, but if the chambers are doorless, where do we find the creaking hinges?
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 The thing that really scare us inside this mansion: people. 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Impressive effect of apparitions
The best part is they disabled the internet access once we get under ground so we can experience more when in the ride and give us a sense that we are in the middle of nowhere
Six YEARS ago, i made a wonderful draw about Haunted Mansioni but played by Ghost Crew from Star Wars.
Ezra Bridger in the role of HatBox Ghost
Sabine Wren as the Bride
Hera Syndulla as Maid Waitress
Kanan Jarrus as Hitchhiker Ghost Phineas
Arihnda Pryce as Madame Leota
Now i note that Rosario Dawson Is playing Haunted Mansion and i Imagine that Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader if they should here in Rebels season three, they will comment saying That Ezra and his crew are great to play the role of Haunted Mansion and seeing that Sabine eats the Heart of horse made by Gummy bear that Qi'ra teach her to eat It.
1:59 *WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH-HWOO-HOO-HOOOOO... AAAAAAHHH-HOOOOEEYYY!!!*
(Lighting)(scream)
Oh, I didn’t mean to frighten you prematurely.
(Music)
(Clock)
Serpents and spiders, tail of a rat, call in the spirits, wherever they’re at!
(Ball room organ)
(Piano)
(Small laugh)
Here comes the bride! For better or for….worse. Well live happily ever after. Till death do us part. I do…I did! (Knife sound)
When the crypt doors creak
And the tombstones quake
Spooks come out for a singing wake
Happy haunts materialize
And begin to vocalize
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize
Now don't close your eyes
And don't try to hide
Or a silly spook may sit by your side
Shrouded in a daft disguise
They pretend to terrorize
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize
As the moon climbs high o'er dead oak tree
Spooks arrive for the midnight spree
Creepy creeps with eerie eyes
Start to shriek and harmonize
Grim grinning ghosts come out socialize
When you hear the knell of a requiem bell
Weird glows gleam where spirits dwell
Restles bones etherealize
Rise as spooks of every size
Ah, there you are! And just in time…there’s a little matter I forgot to mention - beware of hitchhiking ghosts!
They have selected you to fill our quota, and they’ll haunt you until you return! Now I’ll raise the safety bar, and a ghost will follow you home! (Laughs)
Worker: Please exit to your left by stepping away from the carriage with your left foot first. Step out and stand on the moving platform, please.
Hurry back! Hurry back! Be sure to bring your death certificate….. if you decide to join us. Make final arrangements now! We’ve been “dying” to have you…(laugh)
