  • On this adventure, I used the MegaBass I-Loud, and the fish just couldn't resist. Watch as they explode on the surface, hitting the lure with insane aggression.

    Been using these for several years. For starters you’re already sitting super low to the water in the kayak if you were able to stand up or have a higher advantage point, you wouldn’t have to hold your tip as high. The hooks are too heavy for the bait, causing it to sit lower in the water, which is not gonna allow it to wake as well as the original hooks. this was specifically designed to be used at an extremely slow pace to put off a loud knock in the water. It’s a great bait. It catches fish. It’s just very much so tedious because you have to reel it so slow on the surface, the way it was designed to be fished… Aldo great for night time

      @@fishingthe4102 thanks for watching! I’m curious, are you fishing in a river or lake or both? Did you find a difference between current and no current? And yeah, I could see this bait being really good at night!

    Could you sometime try a Strike King® Shallow Hybrid Hunter Jr …make sure it’s the shallow version. A much lighter lure which I can handle better. I just got a few in to try for smallies this summer and fall and plan on using them on inshore reds and trout this winter. Thanks for all your excellent work and have learned a lot!

    It looks like you’re using a fluorocarbon leader, which I also use, especially when there’s pike around. This may be contributing to keeping the lure just under the surface. I get it though, Megabass lures are expensive. Either way, great video man. Thanks for sharing your adventures. 👍🏻

      @@TAK-1127 Good eye! Yes, it’s definitely a tough balance between having a heavy enough leader to protect your lure and the fish while also getting the best out of the lure. Thanks for watching 🙏

      @@seangalvin7394 Yes! I think the guides are good. They also have a Fuji Fazlite ring which seems to help provide long smooth casts as well.

    Loose the swivel and go straight braid or use a heavy mono leader to keep the bait from going under. As far as hook sets go, let the fish take it and let the rod load up and lean back on them to set those trebles. Good luck

    • @sotayakfishing
      @sotayakfishing  23 дня назад +1

      @@lsl1512 💯agree I’d love to use braid or mono leader to get the full benefits of the lure but it’s too easy for pike or musky to break me off, so I’ve gotta stick with the fluorocarbon to save expensive baits and fish. Thanks for watching and commenting - Much appreciated!! 🙏
