The one truth my Dad (RIP) taught me that stays with me is this; "Never be afraid of what you like." He would probably have hated Babymetal music. And I'd ram that doctrine right back at him. (I loved him dearly, btw; but on this sort of thing we would probably clash.)
@Erik Lerström A matter of opinion, I guess. Personally, I love _Metal Galaxy._ I think it's their best album yet. Even without YuiMetal. I mean, how can you beat _Oh! MAJINAI!,_ which is best described as a J-pop-infused heavy metal pirate sea shanty. XD But this album is definitely more experimental than the previous two. Which says something, since, let's face it, BABYMETAL has been an experiment from the word go. :-)
@@peckoltia31 yeah, people always forget that. I remember watching a anime from year ago, where the heroines get treated like idols across the nation. They were the cutesy type....but there was 1 of them that was super metal, and she was dominating the world
I am a 55 year old metal bassist and songwriter, found BABYMETAL about 2 years ago and they have become my favorite band by far since then. The band was created around Su-Metal's powerful, pure voice. I emphatically suggest "BABYMETAL - ROAD OF RESISTANCE, Live In Japan". If you liked this, you will LOVE Road of Resistance.
@Erik Lerström Its a great album, with a wide variety of different takes on metal, great production and musicians. Some songs are truly ground-breaking.
I know for me, during my first viewing of BabyMetal (Megitsune), I was bamboozled. I had that WTF look on my face. I was, like most adult guys, looking over my shoulder to make sure no one else was watching me watch them. I felt guilty for enjoying them so much. I wanted to cry. I had left metal behind decades ago and they were bringing me back. There was no denying that the Kami Band was the real thing and the girls just set the whole thing off. It shouldn't have worked, but it did. Magnificently. Up until I saw Road, I thought I was one of the few weird people who liked them. When I saw the crowd, I was overjoyed that there were so many others.
51 year old metal head here, grew up on Priest, Maiden and love Bathory and Babymetal is outstanding. Try a live performance, Road of a Resistance live in Japan or Ijime Dame Zettai from Sonisphere 2014. They were young average age was in the 14-15 range in this video.
No its not wrong that you like this xD I'm pretty sure this is the official video which has the studio version over the video of the live performance :) But they are even better live believe me. Su has a wonderfull voice. The ONE will come and tell you more ;)
@@Singulitarian I really like the album versions but for me Babymetal is a live band. With the performance on stage, the music which is often heavier than on the album and Su's great voice i really think they are better live ;)
@@ROFLer1988 That's cool. As I said, I like both. My reaction is just to them being labelled as "better" live. More enjoyable to many, sure, but "better" to me is largely objectively measurable and given the album is precise vision of the BABYMETAL team, it's hard to argue live is "better" except in dance and crowd interaction. It's impossible to be better live when you don't have infinite takes and you have to compromise for local sound systems and acoustics. My reaction to these kind of comments largely stems from them coming off as dismissive of the albums, which are gold-plated brilliant. No arguing just explaining my comment.
2:50 I love your reactions, mate, but they aren’t 9 years old. In February 2014 (when the video came out), Suzuka “Su-metal” Nakamoto was 16, and Moa “Moametal” Kikuchi and Yui “Yuimetal” Mizuno were both 14. And now Suzuka “Su-metal” Nakamoto is 21, and Moa “Moametal” Kikuchi and Yui “Yuimetal” Mizuno are both 20. So they were nearing adulthood in 2014, and they’re definitely adults now.
Great reaction (and thanks for the free uncut version on Patreon). I will try to answer some of your questions - and you may have missed 9 years of Babymetal but I think there are still tickets available for their UK tour in February next year (Glasgow, Manchester, Cardiff and Hammersmith) if you're interested in going to see one of the best live shows you can see right now. They started in 2010 as a sub-unit of a Japanese Idol group (Sakura Gakuin) which is like a school themed stage school for girls aged 11 to 15. The sub units are like after-school clubs (cooking club, baton club, science club etc - Babymetal were the 'heavy music' club). Each club has its own songs and choreo and the group performs live shows and releases an album at the end of each school year. The girls are Suzuka Nakamoto (as Su-metal - 'vocals and dance'), Yui Mizuno (as Yuimetal 'scream and dance') and Moa Kikuchi (as Moametal 'scream and dance'). They were aged 12, 11 and 11 in 2010. This video was filmed the day after Su-metal's 16th birthday in December 2013, Yui and Moa were 14. Yui left the band a year ago having not been on stage with them for the previous 12 months because of an undisclosed health or injury problem, so Babymetal is now a duo - Su-metal and Moametal (now 21 and 20) and they are supported by any one of three other girls (known as 'avengers' dancing in Yui's place, but so far the avengers do not have a vocal role). The whole concept was formed around Su-metal with her unusually loud (for a J-pop singer) singing style and extraordinary stage presence - she has been singing and performing professionally since about the age of 8 or 9 and was modelling and on stage when she was as young as about 5 I think. She is an incredible singer and performer, Yui nd Moa have less of a singing role (although they did have their own songs as 'Black Babymetal' performed without Su) but are also highly talented and one of their main roles is engaging with the audience, getting the crowd involved. Their producer, Kei Kobayashi (or Kobametal) saw Su's potential, as a metalhead, to front a metal band with J-pop style vocals and perhaps to bring metal and rock to the attention of a new audience as it was being forced underground with shrinking audiences in Japan by J-pop. The talent agency Amuse considered it a mad idea with no money to be made, but allowed him to continue with his project - but provided no extra funding or budget. Babymetal gained unexpected (by everybody) attention and popularity quite early on despite no budget, having to borrow clothes from other students and teachers for their first shows and videos shot on a shoe string and have gone from strength to strength ever since. In 2013 Su was 15 and graduated from Sakura Gakuin. Babymetal split away from SG with Su to become a separate band in their own right. Yui and Moa continued to work in both SG and Babymetal while also continuing their studies (as their main priority - their parents said they would have to quit the band if their studies suffered) until they also graduated from SG in 2015. About 'Gimme Chocolate' - this song polarises people, it is one of the songs with the biggest 'WTF' factor, so what you were told about loving it or hating it is true. You were right about the "parapapaparapapa" bit of the song - that is the one part of Su's vocals that not sung live and is on the backing track. They have far more meaningful songs, most with a positive message (eg 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' means 'bullying, no more, forever') Babymetal got a lot of flak and hate from 'trve metalheads' early on, but have gained respect and support from many top names in metal (Metallica, Dave Mustaine, Rob Zombie, Rob Halford and Judas Priest, DragonForce, Anthrax and too many more to name). The video you watched is live footage from the show (Legend 1997), but has the studio audio dubbed over the top - which is a shame as most Babymetal fans will tell you they sound better (especially Su-metal) live. At legend 1997 the ''band' you saw in the video in skeleton costumes were known as 'Babybones' and they were miming the instruments to a backing track. For the encores (5 songs) they were replaced by the Kami Band (some of Japan's very best session musicians) playing live. Ever since that show the Kami Band have been supporting Babymetal in all their live shows. There is a core of Kami Band members, but they play on a sort of rotation basis depending on their availability with their own bands and projects. For this year's tour in the US the Kami band were the guitarists and bassist from Galactic Empire and Anthony Barone, the drummer from Shadow of Intent. If you watch more live videos from 'Legend 1997' you will see what the 'Mary' statue at the back of the stage was about and what happened to it at the end of the show - this comment is too long already to go into that now. I really hope you do more Babymetal (I would suggest 'Megitsune', 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai', 'Headbanger' and 'Road of Resistance' to start with). Their official videos are very good but Babymetal live is where they are at their very best.
Supposedly Suzuka started at 3, but I've never seen anything of that (not that it's that important). My guess is they put the studio version on top of some of the live MVs to get the video uploaded quicker. Easier to just get one person to edit it all in a short time and then upload.
@@autohmae Suzuka started acting lessons very young in Hiroshima her home. Later moved to Tokyo joining Sakura Gakuin. Babymetal held a concert in Hiroshima on her 20th birthday which is the coming age for the Japanese, so she could celebrate with family and friends.
@@outwest1014 I think you'll find that Actors School Hiroshima is a misleading name. :-) (as far as I can see Suzuka did not take acting lessons while there, I don't think I've ever seen anyone do that, it's all dancing and singing)
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🍫 💝️ This concert was 'Legend 1997' (2013), celebrating Su-metal, the lead singer's 16th Birthday. Although this music video has the studio audio, they always perform this live. The real audio from the live concert version sounded great, but record companies love using studio audio in promotional videos. Gimme Chocolate!!' is definitely one of their poppier songs. They also do more technical metal songs like 'Road of Resistance': ruclips.net/video/zTEYUFgLveY/видео.html Great audience interaction with this one. The solo songs from Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) are pure fire. Here's 'Rondo of Nightmare' with an instrumental lead-in by their live Kami Band: ruclips.net/video/QxYAcIyk2Co/видео.html
It's a combination that shouldn't work, but somehow does. A combination of pop and metal, of cute and badass, of theater and music. These girls are entertainers (and part cheerleaders), pure and simple, and the backing band are top notch musicians. Very entertaining to watch and a complete left turn to traditional heavy metal. Something that the genre has been begging for for a long time. Enjoy the long, strange trip.
Saw BABYMETAL The Hu and Jinjer in a three week span last month in DC and Baltimore. Su-Metal's talent shows through much better live. This is a studio track over a live video. Just like Jinjer Pisces, it may be their most popular on youtube but isn't even their top 10 best songs. Check out Road of Resistance Live in Japan or Rondo of Nightmare with mischief's of god intro. Just because my favorite food is a rare steak, doesn't mean I'm embarrassed to enjoy ice cream on occasion.
@@kekelaward I saw an announcement Babymetal will be playing a festival in Switzerland, other bands are: Nightwish and Jinjer. I wouldn't mind to see that. :-)
Haha, I really enjoyed that reaction! Your reaction was a pretty accurate representation of the very essence of BABYMETAL: They combine different musical worlds to something that shouldn’t work, yet somehow manage to make the result mindbogglingly satisfying. The ultimate goal is to just make you smile and enjoy, which they definitely succeeded in. And technically there‘s not much to complain about, either. Whether you are a fan of the voices or not, there‘s no denying that the vocals are good, the same goes for the instrumentation. A positive effect of the high pitched vocals is that they throne nicely above the Metal foundation. Add to that the flawless dancing and the general quality of their live presentation, and the result is the most entertaining band ever. This was actually a studio recording played to live footage. I‘m sure you will soon find out that their real live performances are even more awesome! Their catalogue covers a wide range from more poppy to more Metal tunes, while often incorporating influences from other genres as well. I‘d like to recommend two songs after this: „Road of Resistance“ is less catchy, but fast and heavy and a good example of their live qualities: ruclips.net/video/zTEYUFgLveY/видео.html „Megitsune“‘s official music video for more cuteness and a very unique and Japanese composition and video: ruclips.net/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/видео.html Looking forward to your next step down the foxhole! :-)
OMG im so happy right now 😂😂😂😂 thats the reason why i watch babymetal reactions for months now lol you havent seen tiny bit of what babymetal has to offer :) just listen to what people offer and you will be very surprised :)
What always gets to me is that before they were brought together for BabyMetal, they had basically no clue what heavy metal was, and as soon as they were introduced to the genre, they fell in love with it. That's the power of metal, and I love it.
Can you imagine whoever pitched the idea if babymetal? What if, and hear me out, what if we create a heavy metal band that sings about eating chocolate XD I love baby metal.
I always say this when someone refers to a song or artist as a guilty pleasure. Don't let something be a guilty pleasure. Guilt implies something is wrong with what you are doing. There is nothing guilty about listening to awesome music that makes you happy!
This is actually not live, it's the studio recording over a live performance. Road of Resistance live in Japan is really live, and if you watch it, you'll be impressed as hell. Just go for it!
Great react. Here is a list of what to watch next 1. Road of Resistance Live in Japan- their epic masterpiece 2. Legend of 1997 Head Banger- their second epic performance 3. Karate the official video- a true work of art. 4. Pa Pa Ya feat F. Hero - the girls are all grown up and stunningly beautiful in an insane performance After that it's up to you bro
Please dont do Pa Pa Ya ... I'm one of those "their new songs are crap"-folks... well, why's that? They totally changed their direction, they wanted to try new things for other regions in the world. I can kinda understand from a money-driven-point-of-view but as an audiophile who i call myself with a big hang to metal-influenced music i just cannot find ANYTHING good about their newest album Metal Galaxy. Not even one song or live performance comes even CLOSE to whatever you take from all their former songs!
The Choreographer for the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan is Mikiko Mizuno. She is also the Choreographer for Babymetal, Perfume and Sakura Gakuin! So you can see that they have had world class training from the beginning! And as other have said, its the studio track over this Live performances...for some unknown reason, as their live is just as good if not better! Thanks for the reaction and I'll suggest 'Road of Resistance Live in Japan' next please! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
Everybody goes through the same 3 stages when reacting to BabyMetal for the 1st time 1st: WTF did i just watch 2nd: It's wierd but fun 3rd: I'M ADDICTED
Boy you are in for a wild ride! I've been a huge fan of theirs for the last 5.5 years, since I first saw this video. I saw them 3 times in concert just last month. The girls were 14.5 & 16 in this video. The 2 younger girls are not twins or related (everyone thinks they are) but they are very close in age. They started in 2010 when they were 11 & almost 13. They are now 20 and almost 22. Sadly one of them left the group last year due to health reasons. She was 19 and in the group for 8 years. We still miss her very much. Their music is described as kawaii metal (cute metal), or a mainly a combination of J-Pop idol music with heavy metal. Although they also like mixing in a lot of very different genres such as rap, edm, reggae, ska, dubstep, bollywood, as well as all the various different subgenres of metal. Gimme Chocolate is a bit more on the poppier side but they have songs that are much more metal. Everyone says that Babymetal is better live, but I think their music videos are still worth watching. In this video, you heard the studio recording of the song, although they weren't singing live at the concert anyway. In their first few years they mainly lipsynced but since 2014 they have always sang live. Also, when you see the guys in the skeleton costumes playing the instruments in their early videos (like this one) they are only pretending to play. Later on they got actual musicians and they are pretty awesome. They dressed in white with white face paint and called themselves the Kami Band (God Band). I think the videos you should try next should be, Megitsune (meh-GEET-soo-neh), Karate, or Road of Resistance. You will probably like all of those. Megitsune ruclips.net/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/видео.html Karate ruclips.net/video/GvD3CHA48pA/видео.html Road of Resistance ruclips.net/video/zTEYUFgLveY/видео.html The last one is a live performance video with the Kami Band and live singing. It will give you goosebumps. It was a crowd of 20,000, twice the size of the concert in the Gimme Chocolate video and it was only a year later. Both of these concerts were the largest ones they had had up until that point.
Yuimetal & Moametal were also meant to look like twins. :-) "So my instinct was that rest of the member should have been the opposite character. Also they added a feeling of dancing twins, so I thought Yuimetal and Moametal were a good choice. Feeling of twins was must-have, that I wanted badly. Symmetry was good, I thought."
Just felt the need to make a quick correction here, the lip sync claims are not true - ".... In this video, you heard the studio recording of the song, although they weren't singing live at the concert anyway. In their first few years they mainly lipsynced but since 2014 they have always sang live. ...." Su was indeed singing live throughout the whole of this concert (apart from the opening number) and always has sung live (except in some Sakura Gakuin shows and TV appearances perhaps), Yui and Moa possibly had more help from a backing track but sang live a lot more than they are given credit for doing.
@@flippynips6946 Word. As if one of the producers said, "I know! Right here, let's put a really generic rap over this really generic beat. That'll make the song sound awesome!" Such a shame too, because that one bit before the last chorus, when F-Hero goes "Papaya! Papaya! Papa-papa-ya!" with the guitars and kick drums accenting the vocal rhythm, sounds fantastic. They could have done more of that during the main rap section but chose not to. Makes me mad.
If you want to hear and see them performing a far more serious song (about/against bullying) I absolutely can recommend you to watch *"Ijime, Dame, Zettai"* live at the Sonisphere Festival 2014 in the UK. They opened the mainstage this day and this gig was a real make or break moment for them! ruclips.net/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/видео.html P.S.: And this will be definitely live audio. And you won't be disappointed. I guarantee!
Yeah, that's BABYMETAL. Welcome. As far as how many people they have at their shows... If you told me Ticketmaster said that a show wasn't sold out I'd ask what was wrong on the Ticketmaster site the day the tickets were released.
I am a BABYMETAL fan and I can't FUCKING wait for you to react to more brother. You're in for a ride. Remember this comment because you will not be the same person soon. ;)
I guess that everyone of us had an expression half awkward half cheerfull when the chorus of the song is heard for the first time. And that's why I ll be always grateful for those who participated in babymetal. I felt like a child listening to it. Is like two worlds collided but in a funny and creative way.
It seems so wrong but if feels so right! I'm 57 mate and love Babymetal, seen them in the summer and will be seeing them again in February. They are so much fun live - if there are tickets available do yourself a favour and buy one.
Welcome to BabyMetal! Many others will give you plenty of song recommendations; so I will just share my experience coming upon BabyMetal. I am a hard rock and metal fan in his late 60s and I got into BabyMetal back in 2014 when the hate towards them in certain quarters was at its height. Like so many, I was uncomfortable and felt awkward that I took such an instant liking to them, and wondered if there was something wrong with me. Gladly, I was able to get over myself, open my mind, open my heart, and truly believe that accepting BabyMetal into my life has made me a better person. By setting aside my prejudices and Western preconceptions, BabyMetal became the gateway to other great Japanese groups such as Wagakki Band, Doll$Boxx, and, oh hell yes, Band Maid!
Great reaction! You're far wiser than I was back when i discovered this music video. I gave it a miss and didn't bother about them for years. Now it's my favorite band and I've even been to Japan earlier this year to see them four times live at their big arena shows! Grington and many others already sent you so much information, i won't add anything more for now :'D but i'll also suggest Road of Resistance live in Japan as next reaction! have a fun time discovering them! see you
"I've even been to Japan earlier this year to see them four times live at their big arena shows!" Me right now: grumble, grumble and slowly turning green-of-envy. ;-) ... glad you had a good time ! ( I assume )

@@ThorfinnrKarrson The reason for Tilburg and Apollo is because it's special (I suspect Kobametal sees it that way), because of Judas Priest. Their Epitaph World Tour started in Tilburg and Apollo was later in the tour, but Apollo always be a special memory for many Judas Priest fans.
You gotta see them in concert, the wow factor increase by 10x. Love your video!!! 🤘 Rock on!! There are so many more videos waiting for you from Baby Metal!!! Please review more!! 🤩
Seen them twice and both times they were excellent. I always tell people that look at me weird when I play them BabyMetal. I tell them, "you have to experience them live" It's a whole new level.
I know, Babymetal is a bit... different from regular bands. :-) Really glad you liked it ! Very important: every song is very different from the next, you need to check out more and also: Babmetal live best Babymetal
Ah! Welcome to the BabyMetal foxhole. It goes deeper than you can possibly imagine. :) BabyMetal is a very serious band. Very serious, indeed. Chocolate is a serious topic. I used to spend hours in agony and contemplation trying to decide whether to eat chocolate or abstain from indulging. BabyMetal have solved my dilemma. Now I just listen to this song instead and get same sugary-chocolaty bitter-sweet burst of energy as I would if I ate chocolate. Always more BabyMetal forever! :)
Since this is an official video of a live performance there is post work done on the audio . Thats why it sounds "mixed" as you said. Plus in the early stages they sang with a backing track instead of a live band. But having seen them live 6 times, I can say they sound incredible in person and Su has a great voice. They are insanely professional for their age.
Hahaha!! That was my first reaction too. Wtf followed by heck yeah! I discovered them in 2014 and I haven't looked back. I've been to 20+ shows including a couple of trips to Japan. I've never traveled more than 200 miles away from home, much less to a different country. They are AMAZING live. I'm sad to say you juuuuust missed their American tour but for those in Europe and the UK, February 2020 will be an exciting month, as this is when they go on their European leg of their world tour. Many have already given suggestions as to what to listen to next. I'll tell you right now, it doesn't matter what you pick. Every single song is different. They hit on every single genre you can think of. From Dragonforce style power metal like Road of Resistance to Djenty NüMetal like Karate, to Indian metal like Shanti Shanti Shanti. Just pick a song at random and enjoy. Welcome to the world of Babymetal. There is no turning back now. Bwahahahaha!!!! Sharing on my Facebook group, Babymetal, TX
Hi Jarrel (I hope I got that right)! Great reaction! Thanks for checking out my favorite band BABYMETAL! "Gimme Chocolate" is a straight up WTF song especially for people new to the band. It's certainly one of their more poppier songs. You nailed the message of the song, it's about wanting to each chocolate but also worrying about gaining weight. You have a really good ear as this was the studio recorded audio played over the proshot video from their live concert "Legend 1997" celebrating Su-Metal's (lead singer) 16th birthday. The name BABYMETAL is actually a play on words in Japanese. To write "heavy metal" it's "ヘビメタ" (hebi meta), but with just adding 2 marks to the first character you get this "ベビメタ" (bebi meta) which is BABYMETAL. It signifies a new type of heavy metal being born. BABYMETAL are obviously not like most music groups today as their primary focus isn't their recordings, but it's their live performances. Think of them as musical theatre. If you're going to react to more I would absolutely suggest always checking out live shows as they are one of the few bands these days who are MUCH better live! This is an older video where the girls played with the miming "Babybones" band in the background. Since this video they've always been backed by the legendary Kami Band which is made up of absolutely masterful metal musicians. Here are my recommendations for more. They are all live audio and I would recommend this order: "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" Live Sonisphere 2014 UK - ruclips.net/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/видео.html - This was the last song of their first big show in the west. They booked a smaller side stage but were bumped up to the main stage and the girls were terrified how the UK metal heads would react to them. "Rondo of Nightmare" with Mischiefs of the Metal Gods Intro Budokan Black Night - ruclips.net/video/QxYAcIyk2Co/видео.html - This is a Su-Metal (lead singer) solo but it really shows off the Kami Band. "Road of Resistance" Live in Japan - ruclips.net/video/zTEYUFgLveY/видео.html - This is how BABYMETAL ends an arena show. If you're only going to pick one of these to react to, this would be the one. They just released their third album "Metal Galaxy" this month and I saw them during their US tour for the first time last month! They were flawless and I can't wait to see them again! They're doing a whole european tour early next year including 4 shows in the UK (I'm assuming that's where you are based on your accent). If you like what you see, maybe check them out live!
They keep up that pace the whole show. It's really amazing and you should check them out. The 'Pa Pa Pa - 2 2 Late" part is mixed. There are a couple spots in the concert, this is the main one, where they do that. It's not consequential stuff, but I think they do it so Su-metal, the lead, can maintain her breath with all the bouncing around. She is incredibly versatile live. They were 16 and 14 when this was filmed in 2013, and are 21 and 20 now. You should check out Pa Pa Ya to see where they are now, or Shanti Shanti Shanti to get some idea of Su's range
What you just watched was BABYMETAL, back then, the audio for their performances were pre-recorded (members in band were actors playing a role) but the vocals were live. The 2 back-up singers sing in perfect harmony to eachother (sadly, Yui has left the band so Moa sings by herself now) and the lead singer as you heard has a quality in her voice that sounds like she is singing harmony to herself (which may be a mixing board "trick") on that song anyways...
Fantastic reaction! Love watching peoples' WTF moments when they first experience Babymetal. I'm 58 and had the same feelings of awkwardness about liking this. Luckily, I decided to embrace the cognitive dissonance, delve deeper into Babymetal world - down the fox hole - and now have tickets to see them in Feb here in Cardiff. Gonna check out your other reactions to watch your journey down the fox hole. Great reaction and honest comments from you, which is refreshing.
You should listen to another live version and you will see they sound just as good live(sometimes better) as off the studio track The energy from a live crowd increases the enjoyment factor
Thanks for choosing to react to BABYMETAL, they're amazing! As someone who is new to the group, I thought I'd give you and your followers a little background on them. BABYMETAL is a Japanese Kawaii Metal group consisting of (for the most part) SU-METAL on lead vocals, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL on backing vocals/dancing, or "SCREAM AND DANCE" as they like to call it. I say 'for the most part' as Yui & Moa have a few songs that they do as duets without Su and Su has a few songs she does as solos whilst Yui & Moa take a well deserved break. They were formed in 2010 as part of the idol group Sakura Gakuin, before touring on their own in 2011 and have gone from strength to strength. They started singing to backing tracks with actors in skeleton suits pretending to play instruments (known as BABYBONES) but soon incorporated the Kami Band into their concerts, bringing them in full time at the end of 2013. The Kami Band consists of some of Japan's premier musicians on rotation based on availability. The most popular configuration consisting of Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikio Fujioka on guitar with Leda Cygnus as stand-in, BOH on bass and Aoyama Hideki on drums. These are the people you will see most often in videos. Since the untimely passing of Mikio at the end of 2017 they have enlisted the talents of Isao Fujita on guitar. At the end of 2018 YUIMETAL left the band because of health problems and in 2019 there are 3 girls named AVENGERS that will take her place in a rotating manner. Below is a list of some of their best performances that I hope you will consider for future reactions. Should you decide to do more BABYMETAL reactions in the future, you should be aware that RUclips will block almost all videos that incorporate audio. Your reaction was pretty much the same way I reacted. Did not expect it to be as amazing as it was between the music the girls voices sits just all a masterpiece. I’ve played this song over and over for the past 30 minutes and I’m obsessed.
This is my favorite song of theirs. Saw them in Paris in 2014; the two small ones were 15 and almost 15 (like a matter of days. The older soloist gave each one the Mike to sing a solo part on their birthday, one in Paris and one in Germany which was too far for me as I'd taken a bus😁. It was very sweet!); the oldest was 17.
you definitely should try "Catch Me If You Can" at Makuhari Messe 2015. in my opinion, it's one of the most powerful songs of Babymetal. and, btw, it's just about playing hide and seek, but if you don't know it then you could think it is about summoning of a demon :))
Nice to see an older metalhead not gatekeeping and instead embracing and enjoying something new! The audio is the studio version for the best audio to match the video, but having seen them live (they obviously played this) they are fantastic. This was from their first album which was admittedly scatterbrained and kinda gimmicky-the album was good but it worked as Babymetal were new. Their second album is much heavier with much more variety and even an English track. Their recently released third album has some absolutely fantastic songs, the closer, Arkadia, blew me away. From the first album I’d recommend Babymetal Death (heaviest from their first album,) Iine for a bit of fun and Doki Doki Morning for what I believe was their first song. From the Second album I’d recommend Road of Resistance, Karate, Awadama Fever, Meta Taro And Tales of the Destinies. From album three I’d recommend Elevator Girl, Distortion, Starlight, Shanti Shanti Shanti, Shine and Arkadia. Many people write this band off because of the j-pop aesthetic and vocals, but seriously, if you strip that away you are left with a very competent and decently heavy band!
Hell yeah, man! I'm glad you dug that. If you're looking for a heavier song from Babymetal, check out Sis. Anger. An incredibly technical track to try would be Tales of Destines. Babymetal are so great, man. A genuine injections of happiness and wellness.
I just stumbled on your video because I love BABYMETAL and BABYMETAL reaction videos, and your voice is so soothing to me. This video was great! Keep it up 👍
This is not live it is music video. I would recommend Babymetal "Road of resistance" live in Japan, "Karate" and "Syncopation". If you are looking for some other band I would recommend Nightwish "Ghost love score" live at Wackwn 2013.
I'd call the _Gimme Chocolate_ video quasi-live. The video is of a live performance (the _Legend 1997_ concert from 2013), but has the studio track put over it as the audio. :)
"is it wrong that I like this?" -Every single person that has ever listened to babymetal
Yep
And the answer is "No, it is not wrong"
Exactly. Nowadays I leave my home wearing a BABYMETAL shirt with pride. And I'm not 20 anymore...
The one truth my Dad (RIP) taught me that stays with me is this; "Never be afraid of what you like."
He would probably have hated Babymetal music. And I'd ram that doctrine right back at him.
(I loved him dearly, btw; but on this sort of thing we would probably clash.)

Welcome to the world of BABYMETAL.
Kitsune Up!

Don't underestimate the power of kawaii. Japan can, and has, made zombie hunting cute.
Japanese: People talking about their music is meral or not. BabyMetal is an idol group. People missed the point of the argument...

Some songs are truly ground-breaking.
next one should be babymetal road to resistance live in japan
Yes, this.
It starts off great, but they drag it out too long imo.
That's the natural order for reactors. They always start with GimiChoco or Karate and then follow with Road of Resistance.
And it works.
Need more Papaya love.
"I feel kind of awkward liking this" ... Pretty sure that's how everyone feels about it Haha

@@Singulitarian
I really like the album versions but for me Babymetal is a live band.
@@Singulitarian Answer For Animation With You is definitely better live than the studio version. ruclips.net/video/hwlHoJGU6UQ/видео.html
You are well informed indeed. It's also worth noting that many Japanese people are of small stature, so to speak. Thanks.
@@Hadrian1616 to be fair.... Moa and Yui were tiny as kids and Ive seen 9 year olds that look like they did as 12-13 year olds.
@@Bones12x2 they were picked because they were so short
They have far more meaningful songs, most with a positive message (eg 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' means 'bullying, no more, forever')
Babymetal got a lot of flak and hate from 'trve metalheads' early on, but have gained respect and support from many top names in metal (Metallica, Dave Mustaine, Rob Zombie, Rob Halford and Judas Priest, DragonForce, Anthrax and too many more to name).

I've literally been listening to Metal since the 80's, and BabyMetal are my favorite band of 2019. No shame.
I‘d like to recommend two songs after this:
„Road of Resistance“ is less catchy, but fast and heavy and a good example of their live qualities: ruclips.net/video/zTEYUFgLveY/видео.html
„Megitsune“‘s official music video for more cuteness and a very unique and Japanese composition and video: ruclips.net/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/видео.html

Same here. The reactions are priceless.
Most innovative international music group today. Third album is mind blowing in its expanse.
I always say this when someone refers to a song or artist as a guilty pleasure. Don't let something be a guilty pleasure. Guilt implies something is wrong with what you are doing. There is nothing guilty about listening to awesome music that makes you happy!
Grumpy old Metaldrummer here..We would have fun over a couple of pints talking about BabyMetal...😝
This is actually not live, it's the studio recording over a live performance. Road of Resistance live in Japan is really live, and if you watch it, you'll be impressed as hell. Just go for it!
Great react. Here is a list of what to watch next
1. Road of Resistance Live in Japan- their epic masterpiece
2. Legend of 1997 Head Banger- their second epic performance
3. Karate the official video- a true work of art.
4. Pa Pa Ya feat F. Hero - the girls are all grown up and stunningly beautiful in an insane performance
After that it's up to you bro
I kinda fancy him checking the sonisphere ijime dame zettai performance after RoR
How can you not have Megitsune on that list? XD

1st: WTF did i just watch
2nd: It's wierd but fun
3rd: I'M ADDICTED
It's like Jpop mixed with heavy metal, and sounding like the opening song to an anime series.....Dam I love it., as I like all Three of those Genres.
Megitsune ruclips.net/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/видео.html

The last one is a live performance video with the Kami Band and live singing. It will give you goosebumps. It was a crowd of 20,000, twice the size of the concert in the Gimme Chocolate video and it was only a year later. Both of these concerts were the largest ones they had had up until that point.
Yuimetal & Moametal were also meant to look like twins. :-)
"So my instinct was that rest of the member should have been the opposite character. Also they added a feeling of dancing twins, so I thought Yuimetal and Moametal were a good choice. Feeling of twins was must-have, that I wanted badly. Symmetry was good, I thought."
Just felt the need to make a quick correction here, the lip sync claims are not true -
".... In this video, you heard the studio recording of the song, although they weren't singing live at the concert anyway.
In their first few years they mainly lipsynced but since 2014 they have always sang live. ...."
Su was indeed singing live throughout the whole of this concert (apart from the opening number) and always has sung live (except in some Sakura Gakuin shows and TV appearances perhaps), Yui and Moa possibly had more help from a backing track but sang live a lot more than they are given credit for doing.
@@Grington300 Also Yui and Moa dance a lot more !

Have a look at PA PA YA! One of the newest songs
I'll double down on this.
JustMeAdam1 the guy who's rapping ruined the song... Sounds duck

You'll fit right in with the rest of us. :-)
Great reaction!
You're far wiser than I was back when i discovered this music video. I gave it a miss and didn't bother about them for years.
Now it's my favorite band and I've even been to Japan earlier this year to see them four times live at their big arena shows!
Grington and many others already sent you so much information, i won't add anything more for now :'D
but i'll also suggest Road of Resistance live in Japan as next reaction!
have a fun time discovering them!
see you
"I've even been to Japan earlier this year to see them four times live at their big arena shows!"
Me right now: grumble, grumble and slowly turning green-of-envy. ;-)
... glad you had a good time ! ( I assume )
@@autohmae hell yeah! it was amazing!
Japan was a childhood dream and the combination was breathtaking!
i've entered the lottery for both Legend Metal Galaxy shows in january, guess who'll be flying over to Tokyo for a short weekend trip? And that just 2 weeks before going on a central europe roadtrip to see them another four times... see you at least in Tilburg! :D
this band has a similar grade of addiction as getting a tattoo, after the first one, you simply can't stop :'D
@@ThorfinnrKarrson Tilburg yes ! I'm thinking about Apollo as well. I've been able to avoid starting with tattoos. :-)
@@autohmae if you see me somewhere in Tilburg, just come over :D i'll be the big bearded guy with the (hopefully) legend metal galaxy shirt(if not, i'll save my Legend M shirt for this show) :'D
Apollo would be nice, but there are only vip tickets left... don't know if i can spend another 500€ (flight+tickets and other expanses) for another show in europe xD i'll be flying to japan in october too, let's see what the 10th anniverary will bring :D
I love bodyart, so tattoos are a part of my life, but yeah, it's hard to do all the shows and get tattoos at the same time xD i need a second job i guess
Saw them in Denver and holy crap... their vocals live are insane.
Keep the confusion going! Pa Pa Ya!! or Shanti Shanti Shanti official videos.
Glad you found BABYMETAL! The more you listen and discover, the more you love them... their new album, Metal Galaxy is brilliant!
Seen them twice and both times they were excellent. I always tell people that look at me weird when I play them BabyMetal. I tell them, "you have to experience them live" It's a whole new level.
I know, Babymetal is a bit... different from regular bands. :-)
Really glad you liked it !
Very important: every song is very different from the next, you need to check out more and also: Babmetal live best Babymetal
Ah! Welcome to the BabyMetal foxhole. It goes deeper than you can possibly imagine. :)
BabyMetal is a very serious band.
Babymetal serious fun !
Road of Resistance Live in Japan reaction please.
You will never be the same again, and forever be a Babymetal fan.
They were def young then lol they are currently 20 and 21! Also that is from a live show, legend 1997, but the audio over it is the studio version
Find their performance of "Karate" at the Download Festival and have your life changed.

I like people reacting to baby metal💖💖
They are all live audio and I would recommend this order:
"Ijime, Dame, Zettai" Live Sonisphere 2014 UK - ruclips.net/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/видео.html - This was the last song of their first big show in the west.
I believe these girls won the world heavy metal music championship last year - huge bands were part of it! Rammstein, Gojira etc
Aulern A heavy metal music championship?! What the...?!
What the?
Haha in his dreams probably
Can we get a fact check on this?
@@Hadrian1616 Here ya go. It's their second win: tinyurl.com/y6mlvpgs
This song is a straight banger!
Saw them live this summer, and they sounded just as good.
You get it mate! After Ijime Dame Zettai live at Sonsphere 2014, watch Road of Resistance live in Japan, on their Official youtube Babymetal channel.
是非、あなたには他の曲も聞いてほしい。特にライブを。
Babymetal is weaponized cuteness
The best way round this is to mute the video and provide a link that we can open in a new window and sync with yours. Just give us a countdown before you start playing it. The BABYMETAL fandom is very used to this way of doing things.

Iine! (Official Music Video)
Welcome brother!
Babymetal got me through a really tough time in my life.
Makes two of us.
You need to do more Babymetal man! :D Subscribed!
Cutie Metal...new music was born
Road of Resistance in Japan must be checked🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉Pleeeeeeeese💃
Many people write this band off because of the j-pop aesthetic and vocals, but seriously, if you strip that away you are left with a very competent and decently heavy band!
i cant belive these girls are older then me yet look the SAME and voices are still in perfect pitch
Road of Resistance Live in Japan - Please....you NEED to review that one!
its funny! Seeing them makes me smile. Love Babymetal.
I'm glad that i see more fans of BABYMETAL, welcome :)
I was just blasting them in the car, while I was out. Went and got the new CD today as well.
