  • We go inside the abandoned Orleans Parish Prison House of Detention in New Orleans to see what is left since it closed in 2012. We ended up stumbling upon a chop shop of sorts and were chased out by the guys running it!
Note: there is a hiss in the audio from my video because my mic picked up the loud interstate just outside the prison along with how windy it was outside that night. Any attempt at removing it just made the rest of the audio sound bad so I left it in. I apologize.

This is a sad, depressing and creepy place y’all found. People actually live there?!? Nope for me, even in the broad day light I think I would have to pass. Glad you went there for me!😁

I spent a little time in there when i was 20 yrs old.. im not sure why yall are only carrying mace, i hope its at least the heavy duty police mace that shoots five feet. Id be down to explore further with yall into the old jail and i think yall should have continued forward but i understand yall wasnt prepared for worst case scenarios.. im an amatuer mixed martial artist that comes prepared if yall ever want to explore it more in depth again... thanx for the abandoned new orleans videos

I worked there when I was 19 in 1981 or 82. That brought back memories. The room with the windows and the scale on the wall was the lineup room. Witnesses were brought in to view lineups. House of D 7th floor was where the homosexual inmates were kept. If an inmate identified as homosexual or was arrested for a male prostitution offense, he would be sent to that floor.
Before it closed, there was a story of at least one inmate who would let himself out the building and party in the French Quarter. He even took pictures next to mounted policemen. Thanks for the momories. Did you catually go in the CCC? I'd like to see that.
The worst place was OPP. That was a dungeon!

One could reasonably argue that, at least in New Orleans, the high jailed population is less a reflection of our crime rate and more reflective of our incarceration rate. Here, you can be incarcerated for almost anything, including being too poor to pay your fine(s) or swing bail.
